god made stars
for starving poets

when they look up
they forget
how hungry they are

a grandchild
   for her 9th birthday
very happy
    to be away from her older
   as well as her younger sister
  for a while
spent a  long weekend
with her grands

   they picked her up
   schoolbag and bathing suit
   and guitar & everything else

she had already mentioned
   that French Toast for breakfast
would be REALLY nice
and that’s what she got
together with chocolate milk
   1 minute in the microwave,
   according to her wish
patiently reading her book
while the oldies got their act together
   in their slow morning routine

they all went birthday shopping
   & out for lunch
she read her book again while the oldies
    were snoring their nap
& then they all had great fun
    swimming and horsing around in the public pool

watching some TV
   & improving her ping-pong game
happy & tired
after dinner some goodnight reading
doughnuts and hot chocolate for breakfast
next morning
   and then
    with grandma’s help
printing out a card for Mom on Mother’s day
AND baking real  brownies as a gift….

a happy & proud 9-year old
   was delivered to her parents
& presented her mother with the card
   & the brownies & the new dress
   & the homework all done

somehow
the guitar practice had gotten lost

yet she was the envy of her siblings
for the day

Your speaking in your sleep
Keeps me up all night trying to
Remember that favourite song
Of mine that your ****
Voice reminds
Me
Of

Girlfriends are real
Demons at
Times
Hell might be
Heaven
Men may
Be right

But nothing hurts when
You love
Enough
Just be
Laughter

Lighter things
Feel like love and
Lightness
Audience
Lucky as all others who know
This
Is
Unfear
We happen
Now

Slamming doors

Looking into mirrors with no results

going back rather than letting go

Jittery hands and helpless goodbyes

Wishing for a quarter yet repeatedly receiving a dime

Wondering when the time would come that you didn’t wish to die

Widening eyes and opening palms

Learning to stand but accepting the fall

Routines, repeat, redo, robust

Repetition is what hides the rust

Too much smoke not enough air

Inhale the breeze, exhale the year

Drink up the bitterness

Eat away the pain

Run it all off in a day

Start with a beat and end with a tune
August was a bunch of blues
I should start doing a month themed poem from now on hm

a certain morning stiffness
in your joints

you find your face
in the bathroom mirror
and wish you hadn't

the puzzled wisdom
    of middle age
wavers from your eyes
deepening wrinkles
   of many laughs
   many frowns

   how many more?

   nevermore ?!

the room becomes aflutter
with poesque ravens
the presence of absences
fills the void
your life is on the brink
of deconstructing itself
to the periphery of the universe
a discourse of silence
forever becoming ... becoming ...
what...?

   nevermind!

so

you close your eyes
   hard
for a minute or two

when you look again
you meet the stare
of a not-so-bad-looking
man in his best years

   graying sideburns
   receding hairline
   20 pounds too many
      BUT
   a firm decision
   to work them off

   still a bit sleepy
   yet determined
   to shave
      get dressed
      have breakfast

   and teach
   that wonderful seminar
   on 19th century poetry
   to eager graduate students
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I couldn't love you
the way
you deserved.
The time was against us
The prophecies were told
too soon
too wrong
to be true
too soon too swift too sorrow; and
I was afraid you couldn't
handle
The Future!
The
Only real voice
The only real vocation
Was of our hearts pleading:
Do - travel together !
Upon this only true Path
I ever knew would
Blossom effervescent joys
Green leaves trembling in cosy warm winds
branches offering us a shadow no matter day
or night or the Moon or this storm or the Sun
who knew no fear
who loved in colours
who to me ~was so dear!
We loved and we dreamed
And we laughed
As children do
Pine sparks burning
Tickling
Each-other's fire-flies
We loved the essence
Of a total freedom
sealed hand in hand. . .
The lovers freedom ~
never forgotten friends
and the trustworthy skies.
Stars were watching over us
and all the clouds ~ were angels of love
landing softly, soft, upon our shoulders
Amor !
Striked us in a cold cold night
Having a silent debate
With giggly winks
and embraced
nonchalances;
pionirs of a
romantic
fresh air;
mountains,
love beams, power steps
sprouts and cosmonauts
of misssed
little
nostalgia
Spinning in a spinn
of you ~ who were me ~ my beloved!
to dance to explore to eternity
hike
paths
together
. . .and i just. . . i just. . .
I couldn't love you
the way
you deserved.
And you knew She'd be more loved
With us, happier within our arms
To hold you
To hold
. . .
Our extraordinary Love
Love found
Us ~ a miracle in the old city lights
by my friend's mirage music collection
Under those lovely archaic stone arcs
You wrote to me on a little paper
A word I had to solve
I wrote: after. . . .
And we found each other!
walking
the streets of Vienna
with you
things come alive
   venerable palaces
   waltzing around St. Stephen's
   beautiful white horses
   from the Spanish Riding School
   galloping through the Schönbrunn Park
   old Sigmund F.
   ogling the Viennese Choir Boys
my drug myopia------my bitterness-----my sheltered life----like a harlequin----dancing a reel--then I'm camouflage-------a rotted tooth--
a euthanized dog-----the son of-a ***** -could do no good--- ..................
i see the fly on the wall-their brood found in stench-- so look away-- as I lie in ****--the sinner need savior-- pastor need flock---meat bounced from the back of a garbage truck--- ..........................
lonely-- impetigo----greasy--and willing----to slit my wrist -and risk no redemption----I'm the book you shut----kicking the ground--left to my own devices--- dead on the ground ...................
