Because of your faithfulness

I am able to stand
On the promise of you
Not the wisdom of man

Because of your faithfulness

I can see past the pain
Of what this world has to offer
As I fall on your name

Because of your faithfulness

What tomorrow may bring
Will not weigh me down
It's your song I will sing

Because of your faithfulness

You pour out your love
On a people in need
Of the glory above

Because of your faithfulness

There is not a one
That can't come to the Father
In the name of the Son

Because of your faithfulness*

I will boldly proclaim
The power and glory
*Of your Holy name

See the lonely

See the hungry

See the hurting

See the child

See the father

See the mother

See them struggle

See them cry

Know the reason

Know the answer

Know the one

Know His power

Know he's called us

Know he's righteous

Know the burning

Know his desire

To hold the lonely

To feed the hungry

To comfort the hurting

To love the child

To honor the father

To lift the mother

To stop the struggle

To end the cry

How many times must I ask*
For forgiveness for this sin
Just when I think I've conquered
It rears it's ugly head again

And with it comes the guilt, the shame
In my moment of despair
The vicious cycle starts again
A well traveled road that leads nowhere

My inner being knows what's right
And yet I do what's wrong
My spirit yearns to stand and fight
The flesh that holds me down

Without the power of the Cross
My life will not concede
Until I've finally had enough
There is no hope for me

So who will save this sinful man
When I have nothing else
Praise be to Christ, the Great I Am
*Who saves me from myself

Newly arriving in the Ever After
I noticed up ahead a child holding a sign
That read left or right there's no in between
All must chose a line

The line on the left went on forever
With no end in sight
Yet there was not much of a crowd
In the line on the right

I must have looked somewhat dumbfounded
The child looked at me and smiled
Why would anyone not choose the path on the right
Instead of the left, which goes on for miles

Oh, the path has already been chosen
Back when they fulfilled their earthly desires
They had plenty of opportunity back then
To do that which was right

But you my friend choose wisely
Though you did stumble along the way
You still held firm to Gods righteousness
The path on the right you chose those days
Not really theologically sound but hey...it's poetry!

We all, each one are born

With an inner light

Some of them burn dimly

While others burn ever bright

All of it depends on

What it is you spend your time

And what kindling you use

To stoke your inner fire

I've come to the point in my life
at what I thought would be a crossroad turns out to be a cliff.
Not one that I have to climb mind you
but one that I need to step off of.

...and yet I hesitate

I know that what awaits me over the edge
is the loving Father
and all the blessings and adventure I could ever imagine.

But could something also be waiting for me
beyond my imagination?
Could God ask something of me I'm not willing to give
or give up?

That's what frightens me.

I look behind me and see my comfortable life
with it's share of joy and heartaches and I do want more.

But do I want more of this

or more of

God

Will God ask me to move to Somalia or
just move off my couch.

I don't know what tomorrow might bring
but I do know that if God brings it...

It's all good!

and so here I am at the edge...

and...
            I...
                  step...

If I should boast of anything
The Cross Of Christ my living King

With outstretched arms His love divine
Held out for me, forever thine

You took the sin of this wretched man
Upon yourself with nail scared hands

All that you ask is all that I am
A humble soul, a broken man

There is a passion that rends the skies
dark of pain, to thunder forth
in this suffering world;

Grace that rains and brings forth
an oasis of refuge in this
world weak of flesh;

The spirit rises weighed on the cross
by the suffering inflicted in place
of Barabbases, thousands.

In the dunes of the desert, a call echoes:
husbandsman, tinkerman, everyman,

Never mind the pharisees;
The spirit to the letter is moon
to the mirage.

Weighed down by the burden of life,
you who have been told you deserve
nothing more than the dirt of the earth
you sinner, you sufferer,

A passion calls forth to you. So difficult
indeed is to see the father, aye,
lawmongers, enough for us to see
this humble son of a carpenter here;

O you crushed
under the wagon wheels of time
taste that love by which you are
before Abraham was.
Come, be pillars
in the mansion of your father;

Tiller toiling away in the sweat of life,
you on whose shoulders walk
the sweet-talking liars
who yet enthroned say
you are worth
only more taxation,

You can part waters. You are a miracle.
You drive away ghosts. You can
call the dead to life. Yet you are
love and see no difference
in Mary from Mary,

a secret ocean at the shore of an oasis
to drink of, until we are here
as He is in heaven.

Heaven for us to see and live here
not some unknowable hereafter.
Don't know how to describe this... liberation theology, or an inspiration, contemplating the approaching Good Friday...

Sorrow felt by both of us
Heartache only God can heal
As I whisper across the wind
"I can feel your pain and sorrow
Come, I love you dearly
We feel the same pain
And the wounds on our hearts
Have shed the same blood
Perhaps we can both
Comfort each other
As we feel the same pain"

Loving minds remember
And hearts open with love and mercy
Compassion how I strongly feel
And my heart goes out to you
Sorrow felt by both of us
I truly feel your pain
And though my words
Humble though they be
I hope you will in them
Comfort and solace find
To make your heart heal
For there is an everlasting peace
That comes from above
I hope you understand,
My dear one
That I feel your pain
This sorrow felt by both of us
And one day
We will see
Our loved ones again
God promises that
Rainbow promises
Breathed on a rose scented air
Sorrow felt by both of us

"I need no stained-glass windows... Just look at the sky...
Perhaps you'll see either a sunrise, rainbow, or sunset
And that, my dears, is my stained-glass windows
Which also shows me that nature is God's temple
Or church" *-Marian

Sunday's find you sitting in the pew
Listening to the words being said
Catching a few as they're thrown at you
But most blowing over your head

It's not like you haven't heard them before
After all you've been here for years
You know most of the hymns as you hum along
Even a couple might bring a slight tear

Back in the car, Bible back on the dash
On the go as your running late
You'll dust it off next time in the Church lot
It's not like during the week you share your faith

Cause it's all in your head but not in your heart
Just a few short 18 inches away
Don't be the one to miss out on the love
Between those 18 inches today

Next time your in Church, take in the word
Breath in deep the truth being shared
For it's inside the heart that God does his best work
A soft heart's more pliable than a hard head

God speaks something new to you daily
It's your job to listen with a wanting soul
Though it's easier to say than be done I'm afraid
But listen closely cause God wants you to know

Don't give dust a chance to settle on your Bible
And the wear it gets shouldn't be from the sun
But with you turning the page as you study each day
Able to share the Good News with everyone

Cause it shouldn't be all in your head but also your heart
Which is just 18 inches away
Please don't be the one to miss out on the love
*Of those 18 inches today

i worry not

the price is paid

my sins been bought

i'm not the same

let me explain

it has to do

with Jesus name

don't take it light

His sacrifice

for in return

a better life

so leave behind

that wretched life

and fall back on

This is God and...

I see you straddling the fence
I see you with one foot in the stream
I see you calling me your master
With the attitude of what's in it for me

I see you praise only when there's blessing
I see you with no mark upon your knees
I see you turning from your brother
When your brother is desperately in need

I see the dust that's on your Bible
I see you yawning in the pew
I see you passing judgement on my people
When your attitude is what is judging you

This is how the world sees most of you as Christians
This is how you represent my name
How can you expect a dying world to listen
When they look at you and then themselves and you appear to be one and the same
