Elizabeth Squires
we've had an assortment of
weather
four seasons converging
together
whence I awoke there
was a coolish
nip
with associated cloud
like winter's
grip
by noon I dressed
in a light
blouse
for the air felt similar
to a summer
rouse
late eve bought
an autumn
feel
south east winds
blew upon my worn
keel
as night approaches
the true spring
lilt
is dancing around
my trunk's
silt

will be interesting to see
what's on tomorrow's
isotherms
as the climes vary in their
statement of
terms
Once full of beauty and wisdom -
A quintessence
Of substance--among other things,

This bare-naked Oak Tree
With no movement in its limbs.

Stripped of vitality and spirit,

Decades of life gone with it.

Hope is not lost,
Her lively old-self may return
Upon season's change,

The climate around her
Has been somewhat strange.

Her heart, broken, still beats -

Longing to reflect her beautiful soul
Through her leaves;
Internally, she weeps.

SEASON CHANGE
Cloudy above us
With the sun shining through
Rising rainbow beams
Commencement of harvest
In the morning dew
Temperature transition
Leaves bidding farewell
To their trees
Their color goes
Copper flows
Traveling in the wind
Blowing to the ground
At nature's ease
Season'  change

There is a holiness in the wind
these wisps of diaphanous clouds that fly
always I smile in the gentlest of winds that kiss
oh, but I do not like the harshness of winds that whip
how they come to blow the hollow of darkness
toward the light again, things buried underground
places - like death, the stabbing pains
I've met, awakened while
seeing and feeling.
