I understand fear
fear says "run"
fear says "fire"
fear says "gun"

fear keeps us alive
if we keep our head
but step away from its brother:
dread

I don't understand dread
dread says "why try?"
dread says "love is fleeting"
dread says "you will die"

that doesn't help me
to survive
I don't want to feel dread
I want to feel alive

through a world
where we can be killed
by a drop of water
a grain of sand

we move mountains
and destroy rivers
determined to become gods
burning down eden
to tear down the stars

There's more than just humans
There's plants and animals
We don't even know

So you look at the planet
A beautiful planet
Gold grey and brown
White blue and green

When you're up this high
Looking at the big picture
There are no countries
Or people to see

It's a beautiful planet
Not the only planet
It's a beautiful Sun
Not the only Sun

If you take a step back
And look at the big picture
It's easy to wonder
About the other ones

So you send them some music
You send them some pictures
You send your address
Hope they'll write back to you

ghostly messengers

I wonder
if some ancient part of us
remembers that day

when the dragons ruled the sky

to wonder at this omen

really interesting
they come back to me later
like words from a song

whether a dramatic odyssey
or a page
ripped out of your diary

these silent lines really speak to me
out loud in my head
as I read along

It is the same
It is to rearrange

I wonder who is watching us
and where
and with what eyes

shimmering like an oasis
in the desert of the sky

whispering into the darkness
a strange symphony of light

trembling with sound and fury
in the silence of the night

If you have nothing more to say
Why should I stay?

Then it is done

I throw you back into the sea

I see what love does
it scares me

I tried to find a way around love

but that hurt more

kind of

Apple tree

I could see our Moon

where did we come from
stones and stars
and why are we the way we are
will we all learn the truth one day

is the light on the other side
alive
a dagger of the mind
a warning sign
a glitch in time
why is it so bright
who decides

will we still fight when we are beat
are we a secret we can keep
will we know if we go too deep
is life a language we can speak

will we live on beyond the Sun
where to
and what will we become
we know no matter which direction
we will have so many questions

To come to know you better
To decipher you

everyone
runs from the Sun
trying to chase their shadow away
sometimes they might chase you too
if you look like their shadow
or get in their way

when they see their demons in you
hidden desires
a fall from grace
they take up arms to drive away
the silhouette of their own face

do you hear the sirens call?
soft and low
on hidden shores

something strange and beautiful
that breaks the silence
of my soul

it echoes
back through space and time
and I refract it
like a diamond

interact
with all that I am

beckon me to worlds unknown

when the world is full of sound and fury
I may turn away
as if it never changed my mind
this melody entombed in time

and still that echo in my soul
comes back to me when I am lost and cold
a candle at the crossroads
when I need to read the signs

When you are in love
It does not matter
How beautiful other people are

Even the brightest star
Fades into the light
When the Sun shines

if this is all a part of me
some solipsistic fever dream
why do I choose to manifest
this soul destroying loneliness

reality does not reflect
my deep desire to connect
so I have reached the conclusion
I must not be the only one

sometimes I'm still afraid
of being seen
I'd rather be unknown
anonymous
and on my own
and on and on
and all alone

I try
to say I'm not afraid
why lie?
there's no one else
I try
to do things by myself
sometimes I'm still afraid to ask for help

sometimes I play the victim
even when that's only half the truth
sometimes I am the monster
when I cry
sometimes I am the wolf

sometimes I am the dragon
I am strong
I scare my fears away
sometimes I am so brave
only sometimes

sometimes I'm still afraid

sometimes I think
we hide                inside
so we can                      forget
the scale                         of it all

 these                      walls
I am so small

I believe in myself
I know I am real

I might not be
How I appear
But I know

The world may be
A grand delusion
Altered wavelengths
Of confusion
Illusional
Balance wheel

But I KNOW that I am real

down at the crossroads
I fold my wings
breathing in flowers
burnt offerings

out of the darkness
into the light
light as a feather
soft as the night

crazed as a raver
craven and brave
low as the raven goes over your grave

take what you want from me
leave your control
down at the crossroads
give me your soul

we are not really there

I wish that I could understand
Other kinds of animals
Know what they think about
How they feel
What their songs mean

Most of the time
I can barely understand other people

But I can still dream

it is strange when I look back
at all the things I chose to say

I am quite aware that I might
come across a little odd

thinking about thinking
looking at the sky
looking for God

it gives me shivers when I see
the pattern running through it all

staring out into the void
and reaching out behind my walls

strange encrypted souls
building our bridges into the unknown

strange to feel so understood
strange that I am not alone

Every time someone forgives me
I forgive someone else
And so on until we
Wash the whole world clean

dark sparkling clouds
deep within the sky where there
is no up or down

you are not the only one
who can bring love to me
there are a thousand rivers
I can follow to the sea

I want to know
why I'm afraid

was this choice
a mistake I made?

or was this brave
and necessary?

sometimes good things
can be scary

I don't know
where I am going

there is terror
in not knowing

all I know is
I am here

courage feels the same as fear

I am god
you are god
and there is nothing more

it is all in our mind
there is nothing beyond

it is only a dream
it is mine
it is yours

and our souls
are like shadows
that dance on the wall

we are light
we are emptiness
we are the door

we are all
we are everything

nothing at all

we have not yet been born
we are already gone

this is all just a story
it already was

I move through this avatar
you move through yours

through the smoke and the mirrors
that almost seem real

through reflections
of how this illusion feels

the illusion of distance
that makes us feel lost

missing the oneness
that we forgot

we cling to this world
and forget to be god

sometimes we remember
and that is called 'love'

that is all that we are

When the truth                                                            ­    
shines too bright                          
and to see                              
   blurs our eyes
                      we weave a
                               veil of lies
                                   and we hide

I found my soul
Hidden in the forest
Right where I left it
The quiet gentle trees
Kept it safe for me

this is not worthy of my shame
it's not worth crying for

love is not a numbers game

I won't play
anymore

circling the searing Sun
far too bright to see

now I feel
its shadow betray its shape
where it falls on me

Any viewpoint,
when taken to an extreme,

often comes to resemble the viewpoint

at the other extreme. When seen up close,

points of view seem to fall along spectra,

but when seen from far enough away,
they seem to be arranged
around spheres.

I see the world
unraveling
the future
hanging by a thread

I try to memorize the spring
I hope I never will forget

the joy and hope
of innocence
new life
in the trees
on the ground

I try to walk
the Fool's calm steps
to face the sky
and not look down

tomorrow will be different
tomorrow I will make the change
those are such easy words to say
tomorrow isn't a real day

The world belongs to all of us
Not companies and kings
To one and all both great and small
The living moving things

If we should choose to burn the world
Today to turn a profit
Tomorrow never is too early
To find our way off it

Are there still days if there are no more stars?
Eternal night unbroken by the dawn
The darkness was here long before the light
And will be long after the light is gone

The storm has washed away
And the flowers
Open their trembling hearts
To the Sun
