(Maddy’s Music challenge:
“Write a poem based on three words from a song.”
Song: 'Words of love' by the Beatles 1964
)

I’m the harshest critic,
the truest of nonbelievers,
when words of love are used.
Soapy words will not deliver
so please stop trying to be smooth.

Don’t compare me to a summer’s day!
I know that’s from some Broadway play.

Waste not flattery’s rose
praise not my grace,
at least not to my face,
you’re better off praising my clothes.

Forgo sweetness, promise nothing
then you may be onto something
say it, straight up, I won’t faint
trust me, sir, I am no saint.
.
.
A song for this:
Words of love by the Beatles
the birds chirp in the distance
the sun glows bright
in the cerulean sky
no clouds in sight
just sunshine
beating down on your skin
sweat trickles down your brow
a slight breeze
sways the grass
around your ankles
cerulean: deep blue in color like a clear sky
I came to the bend
in the road .
Confused ;
I stopped ,
then texted ,
hit send . . .
(END)

I came to the bend
in the road .
Distracted ;
I crashed
the barriers .
They said I was lucky
to live and
that was the . . .
(END)

I came to a bend
in the road .
Enraged ;
in anger ,
I sped up and crashed
into a tree
and that was indeed
the . . .
(END)

I came to a bend in the road .
I stopped ;
then prayed ,
and made amends .
Then God straightened out
the road again .

by searching for them

They come from living them
You see it all the time
Poems strung out on pain
Shooting up words
destroying refrains
People disguised in their disguise
Pontificating truth in fact lies
Will we be dressed in black tie upon the death as we say adios , goodbye ?
Make this coda dance as the music reaches the sky
I see you smiling
through the fence
of my enduring fears

See you riding your horse
this year after years

Watched you stir up the red clay dust that was whisped away by a thunderstorm's gust

See you wipe away tears
of joy and happiness

And the tears of sad goodbyes

What ever happened to Búzios Bay , Brazil ?

Now I will never know
I named the clouds just to feel known,
told secrets to a skipping stone.
The wind replied with riddles sweet—
I laughed, alone, on crowded streets.
Brave birds bop
On bare branches outside;
Grandpa’s dominating morning —
Grey and makes everyone flee.
Logic larks: get up and walk, see!
But bed, with an abundance of blankets
And rain, lots of rain, drips don't be insane,
Get warm!
Despite this, cold sausages and coffee call:
“Eat me!”
And I do oblige.
Im facing one of my greatest fears
My pleas are on deaf ears
People care less over the years
But still throw spears that stop my gears

I lay awake with my mind racing
Disappointment the only thing chasing
Can i keep up with the pain I’m facing

Wishing for help just leaves my eyes sore
Everywhere I look just a closed door
Paranoid about whats in store
Nothing more than an emotional war
long words can fill up the pages
putting value on silence is personal
waggling tongues curl around voices.
