Please let these words dissolve
I do not mean what I say
But I must say something

Please let these words dissolve
Because my fingers tricked me
Into concrete existence

Please let these words dissolve
I have surrendered to the sensory
Now shallow beauty moves me

Please let these words dissolve
Because love is a word
And falling is a verb

Please let these words dissolve
Because the kids don't deserve
To see these days

Please let these words dissolve
And unbind me from the strangle
Of language

Please let these words dissolve
Because my mind is transparent
Like a blank page

Please let these words dissolve
Because I am flesh
I am not ink

Please let these words dissolve
Because I want to be remembered
For everything I am not

I believe in love
I believe in second chances
I believe in people
And God

I believe in sunsets on cold nights and walks along the coast
I believe in giving back
I believe in hope
And wisdom

I believe in spaghetti on Christmas
I believe in Taco Tuesday
I believe in grilled cheese when I'm intoxicated
And playing ultimate frisbee even though it's given me two concussions

I believe in soulmates
I believe in true love
I believe in love at first sight
And a broken heart being the worst pain imaginable

I believe in you
I believe in me
I believe in our ability to create a better understanding of each other
And sarcastic conversations over the phone

I believe in everything I've experienced
I believe in pain
I believe in frustration
But more importantly I believe in the potential to define all odds

And to fly even when the world is fighting to keep you grounded

Her laughter was better than the melody of my favorite song
If I could listen to it forever, I would
Too bad,
I haven't heard it for months

Her words were comforting
Even more soothing than the classics
She spoke the truth in the kindest ways
There are no words I'd rather listen to than hers
But her last words were the opposite

Her hug was warmer than the pink covers I've been using since I was six
If I could embrace her forever, I would
But when I touched her today,
She was cold

She was the best among all
If someone could have stayed forever, I wished it to be her
However --

bell
to be a poet
is to destroy yourself
and use the broken shards
to mend other people
perpetually
over
and over
until eventually
there is nothing left

to give

I know I can be rude and crass and my words are biting
But please understand that this is not easy for me
I don't know what to think of it
Fragility is the membrane
As peace is the crux
Our constant search for the latter
Devotes our journey through flux

Keys do not build
Doors, signs or the floor
Keys only open doors
That we build to hide much more

Within these doors hold grounds
For scents and aromas beyond mankind
It merely is a part of our universe;
Finding resemblances is a game of our mind

Locking doors to banish our demons
From flowing, entering and ruling
Reminds us that we must unlock frequently
To invite our guardians patrolling

Without a crack or two
What light are we letting in?
The descent may be filled with darkness
But we are our torch, shining from deep within
