give us the days
that make a question
and all the things
that hold me on
ponder the ****
you can convince yourself
of anything you want
when you feel like this
I don't know what to say
cause I found a light
it told me things
you wouldn't believe
cause they're in my head
it gives me a choice
between black and white
do you want to end your life
I wish I knew what to say
a man cannot be free
it will tear me apart
eternally being turned
inside out and outside in
forced to explain myself
to everyone I know
it's crawling around
down my throat
a hairy darkness
choking me up
every word I speak
sounds like nothing
my head weighs
a thousand pounds
I heard my skull crack
It sounds impossible
but I've made up my mind
a heart like a hamster
give me more coffee
and hug me until this feeling
has passed and I can escape
the ideas I've created
old draft from 2020 about a bad trip.

Sometimes I feel like a Jenga tower
Built strong and high
As everyone takes their turn taking a piece out of me
Eventually, gravity does its work
And I collapse
Then it becomes someone’s job to build me back up
Just for the pieces to be taken again
Or until they become tired and my little game is over
Lost poem from 2020, I quite like this one.

any woman, any man

any beast, any land

any drug, any vice

any king, any country

any idea, any belief

any detail, any word

but do I sure love a good love song

Sitting like that all alone
Eating a sandwich in the dark
All dressed in black
My mother warned me about people like you
I never imagined it would look so pitiful
I can’t help but laugh
Sadness is a funny thing
Ain’t it
You really do crack me up

The first thing the people notice,
It’s just the way he is.
So little, in such a big world.
I don’t know what to call it.
He sticks his shoes underneath the floor.
Mumbling along to our beat,
With batteries in his hand.
Love the music, man.
Yeah,
Thanks.

Dousing ourselves blind.
The best night ever had,
Is a mile away from the end.
I’ll drink to that.
Hey, mumbles, what’s his name?
Sketchy is the word I heard.
Walls speak louder than words,
Is what they all say.
Yeah, alright,
Thanks for that.

*******.

Even under every blanket.
Dressed in my warmest clothes.
In the humid summer night.
I can’t help but shiver.
As I lie awake staring into the dark.
Everything feels cold.

Mom is gone,
And the dog is in her bed.
It’s been a while
Since my phone rang.

But that’s alright,
I suppose.

The sky is gray,
And my eyes are red.
It’s beginning hard to tell
What day it’s not.

But that’s alright,
I suppose.

My mind is running dry,
And the rain puts me to sleep.
Guess I’ll give it up
With all this thinking.

But everything will be alright,
I suppose.
