WHEN THE MIGHTY FALL
Cedric McClester Dec 2015
By: Cedric McClester

The law applies to all
So when the mighty fall
Just like the rest of us -  y’all
They hear the clarion call
When asked - Oh yes indeed!
They do regret their greed
So no matter their misdeed
For leniency they plead

And let’s keep it real
Cuz they’re not made of steel
They’d like to cut a deal
Found guilty they’ll appeal
And baby I’m not lyin’
By accident or design
Without them even tryin’
They’re lookin’ at big time

When they’re cut down to size
It makes you realize
They fall quicker than they rise
Right before our eyes
Past actions sealed their fate
But it’s no cause to celebrate
Cuz they got crushed under the weight
And they learned that lesson late

So you ask for the deductive?
It should serve to be instructive
Not at all counterproductive
How greed can be seductive
Although they celluloid it
By all means just avoid it
There’s no need to Sigmund Freud it
Just because they once enjoyed it

SOMEBODY CALL A COP
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Somebody call a cop
Make Tom Cruise and them stop
I think they’re over the top
We need to close their shop
You see I’ve figured out
They’re just another cult
Who have Hollywood clout
By going the science route

Somebody call the police
At the very least
Their madness needs to cease
And their numbers decreased
Perhaps you find it odd
That I view them a fraud
Both here and also abroad
They need to be outlawed

Somebody call a gendarme
There’s reason for alarm
They have seductive charm
For those fresh off a farm
I see the telltale signs
I’ve peep behind their blinds
And seen their Machiavellian designs
They’re trying to capture minds

Somebody call the Bullen
And that’s my final ruling
Who they think they foolin’
The ignorant need schoolin’
For those who go for hocus pocus
And  tend to lose their focus
Easily become the locus
Which they can use to yoke us

I don’t rightly know
What there is to say
About truth, justice
And the American way
Except it’s never
Fully been on display
Ask the indigenous people
Who are here today

Ask ‘em about the treaties
That were never kept
And the opportunities that
They might have had, but slept
To insure that their land
Was fully swept
Of those invading varmints
They learned to regret

Truth, justice and
The American way
The Superman announcer
Used to say
Before we started chasing
Immigrants away
Or we started treating greed
Like it was okay

God blessed America
With a gift
But the American dream
Is becoming a myth
And what the rich have
Can be taken away swift
If the people of this country
Keep getting stiffed

“There’s something going on
In the Mosques,
Something,
We don’t know about,”
Said Donald Trump
While on the stump
And I respond,
No doubt

There’s something going on
In the Mosques
Houses of worship
Made expressly
For prayer
But anyway, it’s hard to say
For those
Who've never been there

There’s something going on
In the Mosques
Perhaps,
Just religious study
But he don't know
Cuz he won't go
Therefore his perception
Is muddy

There’s something going on
In the Mosques
Like any other
Religious institution
You’ll find people
Praying on
Their knees
Seeking absolution

I'D RATHER A PRESIDENT
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

I’d rather a president
Who has my back
Than one who is busy
Talking smack
One who is deliberative
And thinks things out
Rather than one who is not
But rants and shouts

I’d rather a president
Who walks softly
But carries a big stick
Than one who stomps
And acts too quick
I’d rather one like
Cool Hand Luke
Than one who’s like
John Wayne the Duke

I’d rather a president
Who weighs the options
Rather than one
Who reacts without conscience
I’d rather one
Who can **** Osama
Than one who can bring us
Lots of drama

I’d rather a president
Like the one we have
Rather than one who
Doesn’t do the math
I’d rather a president
Who can take out
Jihadi John
Rather than one who
Who goes on and on

JERSEY CITY
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

He saw thousands celebrating
In Jersey City
When the Twin Towers crumbled
What a pity
It’s just another dangerous part
Of his total litany
Of outright lies
And that’s what getting me

He can say anything
And largely go unchallenged
Never mind the fact
That he seems unbalanced
Despite First Amendment rights
He needs to be silenced
Before his misstatements
Leads to violence

You can find him re-tweeting
Outright lies
Using that as an excuse
And as you might surmise
The usual rules and standards
Never applies
To candidates like him
You start to realize

I feel the need to tell you
Though you haven’t asked it
I think we’re going to hell
In a hand basket
What’s to be said about
That errant rich *******
Other than the world will be better off
When he’s in his casket

CERTAIN CANDIDATES
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Certain candidates
Are a joke
Like that boastful chump
Who never says he misspoke
Hopefully
The people are awoke
To his tendency
To insult and provoke

Insults don’t
A president make
And fuzzy facts
Are hard to take
From a candidate
Who never applies the brake
And speed dials past
Frequent mistakes

What the hell
Have we become
When outright lies
From the mouths of some
Seems to have the affect
Of making us numb
Or perhaps it highlights
The fact we’re dumb

We’re ignoring
The elephant in the room
And that might well spell
The candidate’s doom
His Armageddon
Is about to loom
And he’ll be gone
From the world stage soon

BRUSSELS IS NOW ON LOCKDOWN
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Brussels is now on lockdown
Which has us all in shock now
And because we are frightened
Our borders have been tightened
Ever since Paris was attacked
It’s changed the way we act
Sometimes it’s been extreme
If you know what I mean

And now our energy is spent
Finding new ways to be vigilant
So we seem to equivocate
While subjecting others to our hate
As for our values? fair thee well
Cuz nowadays you cannot tell
Exactly who we are
Because we’ve strayed so very far

They can shut down any Mosque
Because of safety at all cost
And so I fear for the time being
Certain things we’ll not be seeing
Like the liberty they once lauded
Now it can’t be that afforded
And so something does not feel right
In the city known for light

What are we prepared to lose
I don’t know, you care to choose?
And if I may be so bold
Should we abandon our very soul
So that we can feel secure
Or does that exist anymore?
Clearly I don’t have the answer
As to how we defeat a cancer

WE'RE FORGETTING
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

We must be forgetting
The intensive vetting
Refugees go through
Before they get into
The United States
Despite frequent debates
We’re relatively assured
Their past is not ignored

Why should we deny ‘em
From safety and asylum
In the home of the brave
How come we always cave
And give into our fear
When by now it should be clear
There is nothing to else
To fear but fear itself

The challenge of the day
Is what to do or say
When safety’s of concern
We needn’t crash and burn
Or fear the Boogie Man
The way you know we can
In frightening times like these
Let’s get off our knees

No one can guarantee
A hundred percent safety
None of us wants to die
At best we can only try
To be as safe as we can
But we needn’t try to ban
People who are oppressed
By those who are God blessed

You don’t love this country if
You want it to be exclusive
You don’t love this country if
Your mantra’s non-inclusive
You don’t love this country if
Your verbiage is abusive
You don’t love this country if
Your motives are conclusive

You don’t love this country if
You think it’s only Christian
You don’t love this country if
You are on a crusade mission
You don’t love this country if
You don’t have some contrition
You don’t love this country if
Hatred is your sole ambition

You don’t love this country if
You hate your fellow man
You don’t love this country if
You don’t want it to expand
You don’t love this country if
You let guns get out of hand
You don’t love this country if
You want all others banned

You don’t love this country if
You think it’s for the rich
You don’t love this country if
You take us in a ditch
You don’t love this country if
You undo every stitch
You don’t love this country if
You fall for a sales pitch

THEY ARE NOT THE TERRORISTS
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

They are not the terrorists
They’re the terrorized
Yet they are the ones
We’ve chosen to ostracize
Everyday they’re looking
Death squarely in the eyes
And yet we haven’t
Taken the time to realize

They are not the terrorist
They’re just frightened people
The majority of which
Are perfectly peaceful
And are in no way
Trying to be deceitful
Why can’t we treat them
Simply as our equals

They are not the terrorists
Though we like to pretend
That they’re all hell-bent
On bringing about our end
If we keep the Syrians out
That’s the message we send
And we’re no longer a nation
That I can comprehend

They are not the terrorists
They’re just their victims
Is it their fault that
Most were not born Christians
What kind of reason is that
To keep them at a distance
Because of some politician's
Constant insistance

APOSTATE
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By:Cedric McClester

They smoke, they drink
And fornicate
Then claim a religion
That they must hate
While trying to form
A new caliphate
Made up of gullible people
Led by an apostate

He’s studied Qu’ran
And got a degree
But routinely misleads
Muslim wannabes
By proselytizing
He makes ‘em agree
With his twisted logic
On how things should be

At the risk of redundancy
Let me restate
What I’ve said before
He’s an apostate
With his own religion
That’s comprised of hate
And most of the uumah
Does not relate

Some call him Sheikh
Other imam
But I call him apostate
Cuz I don't give a ****
Despite all his followers
Who’ve been programmed
Into believing his dogma
See they've just been scammed

THAT'S NOT WHO WE ARE?
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

That’s not who we are?
Then who are we exactly?
I don’t know, don’t ask me
Or take the time to task me
With answering that question
Not who we claim I’m guessing
If our actions are any indication
We’re a totally different nation

That’s not who we are?
Our president likes to say
So then here is the question
Who are we anyway?
We’ve become schizophrenic
And we weren’t yesterday
Afraid of our own shadows
Like we are today

That’s not who we are?
But how many of us know
Who we really are
When it doesn’t show
We just pretend to be
What we’re not although
We’d deny that premise
If you asked us so

That’s not who we are?
The statement seems so strange
When you take into consideration
How much we have changed
The way we treat some refugees
Could be called deranged
From our former selves
We’ve become quite estranged

WIDOWS AND ORPHAN S
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Why do widows and orphans
Cause us such fear
Who are running for their lives
And just seek a share
Of the American dream
That brought most of us here
How quickly we forget
Now we don’t seem to care

These are people between
A rock and a hard place
Who every single day
Stare death in its face
We can’t claim to be the best
With quite as much bass
As we could in the past
And in any case

Please don’t tell me because
They are Syrian
That makes ‘em
Twice as scary and
We can’t say we’re who
We try to pretend
That myth or that fantasy
Has come to an end

We’re faced with a battle
For the American soul
Once open and warm
Now we’ve turned so cold
That the American fable
Has now gotten old
Today we're  just punks
Who used to be bold

IT'S CRA--
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

You know it’s cra
When the NRA
Finds the need to weigh
In on guns today
And they choose to say
That it’s a-okay
For terrorists
To fill their shopping lists

And we don’t hear
From Wayne Lapierre
Who doesn’t seem to care
Or may be unaware
About the things we fear
Despite the salient facts
And Paris attacks
That’s the way he acts

Second Amendment rights
To put out our lights
Has us in their sights
And clearly highlights
Why we have sleepless nights
Despite the gun debates
We’ll do what it takes
To put on their brakes

It’s insanity
If you’re asking me
It should be clear to see
Why there needs to be
Some sort of prohibition
To tamper their ambition
Why give them permission
To get what they’ve been wishing

SEVENTY-TWO VIRGINS
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

So you want a ticket
To paradise
Before killing everyone
You see in sight
Read the Qu’ran
Maybe once or twice
And you won’t be listenin’
To a fool’s advice

You think if you die
You’ll get seventy-two virgins
So you blindly follow
A mad man’s urgings
Which will lead you to hell
After your conversion
You’ll be fuel the fire
And the devil’s diversion

Jihad Akbar
The great jihad
Ain’t about random killing
So before you start
It’s the battle that is waged
Within each heart
To stay on the straight path
Havc you done your part

Islam truly is
The religion of peace
Despite the things you see
Throughout the Middle East
Or the false prophets who are down
With the beast
Promoting ****** and mayhem
Which has increased

All of ‘em had better
Leave Islam alone
Because their religion
Is all their own
See they’re the last ones
Who should throw a stone
At others who disagree
With how their movement's grown

PARIS IS BURNING!
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Paris is burning
And the world is learning
As the hands of time
Keep turning and turning
The potential for terror
Is very concerning
In the face of the peace
For which most are yearning

Paris is not
The only place on earth
Where terror exists
For whatever it’s worth
Paris is convenient
For those who’d do harm
To Western interests
To cause us alarm

Paris is called
The city of light
Yet right now it doesn’t
Shine so bright
They’ve been raiding all over
Which heightens the fright
Trying to send the terrorists
Off into flight

Paris has lost
Some of its romance
Because people feel
They’re taking a chance
If they stop at a café
Or go to a dance
And fear seems to have
‘Em locked in a trance

TERRORISM!
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Concerned about letting
Those terrorists in?
They’re already here
Where they’ve always been
It wasn’t ISIS in Sandy Hook
Who killed all those children
And had us all shook
Nor was it al-Qaeda
Just for the record book

Concerned about having
Those terrorist here?
I think it’s too late
It would appear
From Kenneth McVeigh
And the list does go on
Terror’s been happening
Right here all along

Concerned about us having
A terrorist attack
We already have
As a matter of fact
We’ve seen it in Chicago
But we don’t react
And in Baltimore
We haven’t done jack

Concerned about terrorism?
Why don’t you define
Exactly what it is
That you have in mind
You want to bare weapons
Because it’s your right
Which hasn’t done nothing
To lessen our plight

LET'S KEEP OUT THE SYRIANS
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Let’s keep out the Syrians
Fleeing oppression
Someone’s gotta teach
Those rag-heads a lesson
And we’re not inclined to
Give them our blessing
When they may hide
A terrorist I’m guessing

Let’s keep out the Syrians
While housing our own
Christian white terrorists
Who at least are homegrown
With whom there’s no problem
None that I’ve known
No matter how bitter
The seeds that they’ve sown

Let’s keep out the Syrians
Who are at our gate
No matter how desperate
Or uncertain their fate
Our old sense of charity
Now is open to debate
And it’s become quite easy
To show them our hate

Let’s keep out the Syrians
The strangers we fear
While the enemies within
Are ever near
They’re our friends and neighbors
And folks we hold dear
Who have caused more mayhem
It would appear

OLD ADAGES
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

If you are free of sin
Then throw the first stone
But if you are not
Then leave it alone
If you point your finger at someone
As people often do
Don’t forget that three fingers
Are pointing back at you

When the shoe is snugly on
The other person’s foot
Where the onus usually is
More easily put
As opposed to when the shoe
Belongs to you
Then that’s probably something
You won’t want to do

People who live in glass houses
Shouldn’t throw stones
Because the glass might shatter
The window one owns
Look before you leap
Because you cannot know
If there’s any water
Down there below

Once bitten makes you
Two times shy
Chalk it up to experience
As the reason why
"It is better to give
Than to receive,"
Jesus once said
But how many believe?

BOOTS ON THE GROUND
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Has history taught us nothing?
That's what I’ve found
There are those still clamoring
For boots on the ground
Which may satisfy us emotionally
Just by the sound
But how lone are we prepared to stick around

Some suggest ISIS
Can be taken out
By boots on the ground
And American clout
But other than bravado
What’s that about
It’s a  confounding quagmire
Without a doubt

Certain things are
Easier said then done
Some act as if
We’re the Omnipotent One
Cuz we have the manpower
And also the gun
But history has shown us
Nation building ain't  fun

Fighting them over there
Rather than here
Might not be as simple
As it may first appear
If our strategy is not working
Which to some is clear
An effective alternative
I'd like to hear

DON'T JUDGE US
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Don’t judge us
By the actions
Of a deviant few
Who engage in activities
That we’d never do
Personally I think that
They’re missing a *****
And I believe, you know it too

Allahu-Akbar is not
A declaration of hate
The literal translation
Is that God is Great
And no God we know
Would ever conflate
Terrorism with His Will
At any rate

Don’t judge us by
The easily influenced who
Are in league with the devil
And spew what he spews
It’s not the religion
But I thought you knew
By the depths of depravity
They’ve taken it to

They’re winning converts
Every single day
Who are clearly malcontent
Quite a few people say
They think that religion
Makes it perfectly okay
So they don’t let their conscience
Get in the way

MY PRAYERS ARE FOR PARIS
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

My prayers are for Paris
The city of light
That descended into darkness
One fateful night
Many lives were taken
And that wasn’t right
But they’ll rise again
Like a phoenix in flight

My prayers are for Paris
And all they’ve been through
It was a night
That they’d learn to rue
When they got up that morning
How many knew
It would be their last
Once the cold wind blew

My prayers are for Paris
And the rest of the world
A new kind of evil
Clearly has unfurled
And one group’s hatred
Suddenly can be hurled
At unsuspecting people
Who die bent and curled

My prayers are for Paris
See the day will come
When they’ll smile again
And cease being numb
After they’ve buried their dead
Heard the muffled drum
Joy will come in the morning]
Not just for some

NOW IS THE TIME!
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Now is the time
To eradicate
Those merchants of death
Who practice hate
The world must unite
Cuz the hour is late
Let’s all join the fight
And help seal their fate

Now is the time
That God will reveal
The awesome power
That love has to heal
It’s stronger than hate
And I also feel
It will frustrate
All that isn’t real

If we are to find
Life’s greater meaning
Embrace the Devine
Do some house cleaning
Now’s a good time
To begin convening
Your higher angels
Whose wings are gleaming

Now is the time
To move ahead
Into the light
Not the darkness instead
Haven’t we seen
Where that has led
Or must we continue
To bury our dead?

PARIS IS...
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Sadly Paris is
Feeling the ravages
Of those heartless savages
Whose numerous miscarriages
Of jihad on the average is
A total mischaracterization
Of what they claim is the Muslim nation
And frankly speaking I’m losing patience

This I hope you understand
There’s no justification in the Qu’ran
For what they do to their fellow man
As if it’s part of Allah’s Plan
Show me the sunnah if you can
That allows aggression in any land
Things have gotten out of hand
If everything you do is banned

You can spread your hate
But I have to state
There’ll never be a califate
That’s solely built on one man’s hate
It will crash and burn under its own weight
And heaven help those who participate
For them I fear it’s much too late
And that’s not open to debate

Paris is crying, naturally
Because of the carnage don’t you see
But they’ll continue to be free
And enjoy the support of humanity
We all must ask how could this be
While sealing the fate and destiny
Of those miscreants who **** with glee
And have the significance of a flea

DON'T SAY, "ALLAHU AKBAR!"
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Don’t say,  “Allahu Akbar!”
Because the facts are
That while God is Great
He’s not a God of hate
And if you can’t relate
You have a second rate
Ideology can’t you see
It’s clearly blaspheme

Don’t say, “Allahu Akbar!”
While you blow up a car
To maim and ****
As if it’s God’s will
You won’t reach paradise
Because it isn’t nice
To harm humanity
Read Qu’ran like me

Don’t say, “Allahu Akbar!”
Who you think you are
God doesn’t sanctions you
To do the things you do
You think it’s heaven sent
To **** the innocent
And do it in a Name
That you clearly defame

Don’t say, “Allahu Akbar!”
When you know you are
Just an insane jihadi
Down with al Baghdadi
Who’s merely a snake
So give me a break
Because he’s a viper
Worthy of a ******

There’s no reason to morn
If Jihadi Hadi John
Is finally finally gone
He clealy was a thorn
Or a giant blemish on
The nose of ISIS face
An inhuman disgrace

May he dwell in hell
The place he must have fell
With no more videos to sell
Now that he’s met his death knell
Unlike the Farmer in the dell
It’s so plain that you can tell
He’s underneath the devil’s spell
So let him scream and yell

You’ve got to figure this
He will not even be missed
Cuz with his knife firmly in fist
He used to violently insist
Cutting heads for him was bliss
And I could go down the list
So as not to be remiss
But I think you get my gist

And just so they will know
We were glad to see him go
See we got him with one blow
Which only goes to show
How our drones kept him in tow
Too late he said, “Oh no!”
He should havce know he had to go
Too bad it wasn’t painful and slow

I'M WITH TRUMP!
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Call me a chump
But I’m with Trump
When it comes to Carson
He can’t be accused of parsing
When he says pathological
He’s being pedagogical
Using the man’s own words
Which completely under girds

What the man said
About the thoughts in his head
And it’s no more than logical
He said he’s pathological
We must wonder hard
If he’d still go that extra yard
To practice his absurdity
I know the thought’s occurred to me

Cuz if you take a look
Inside his true confession book
You’re gonna be amazed
As he recounts the different ways
He showed off his temper
With his mother front and center
Then a friend or relative
Who he tried his best to shive

It may sound like a joke
But thank God the blade broke
Then there’s the guy that he rocked
With a solid steel padlock
But no one can recall
Because the tales he tells are tall
Though he insists they’re true
But those who know him asked, "Who knew?"

You’re a Jesus freak
That’s just Jesus speak
But what do you do
For the poor or weak
Do you do unto them
As you’d want done
If you were in their place
Can you answer that huh?

You know the Bible
Front and back
But we’d never know it
By the way you act
You wanna take away
Everything in fact
You’re anti Latino
And you hate the blacks

You walk around
With your chest stuck out
Telling us you’re saved
Or just about
Your actions place all of that
In serious doubt
You’re not what you profess
Haven’t you figured that out

Your Christian credentials
Are supposed to be in order
But you wanna build a fence
All along the southern border
And throw eleven million people
Out of here on their ***
Whether or not they’re law-abiding
You don’t even ask

Stop your proselytizing
That’s just gibberish
You’re determined not to grant
Their ardent wish
Give ‘em something to eat
Or teach ‘em how to fish
You won’t get their vote
Or have you thought of this

ONE SECOND AFTER MIDNIGHT
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Stop living in the past
Because the past goes away
One second after midnight
Is already today
See the future’s not promised
Some people say
So there is only right now
Anyway okay

Consider mistakes
That you’ve made in the past
Building blocks for the future
That will get here real fast
It’s hard to change the color
Once the dye has been cast
View it as life experience
That you’ve amassed

One second after midnight
Is already today
Thank God for
Each moment
You’re allowed to stay
Another chance for forgiveness
Has come your way

None of us knows what
Tomorrow has in store
Whether it will get here
We can’t say for sure
If it does let's try to do it
Better than we did before
That’s the best we can hope for
We can’t hope for much more

Stop living in the past
Because the past goes away
One second after midnight
Is already today
See the future’s not promised
Some people say
So there is only right now
Anyway okay

IF YOU'RE GONNA BE A RACIST
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

A college president
Just looked the other way
In the face of campus racism
Like it’s okay
So he has to go
The black students say
But Trump believes that chump
Shoulda chose to stay

He doesn’t concern himself
With how we feel
If you’re gonna be a racist
Be one for real
Perhaps that might explain
Donald Trump’s appeal
To those who are asking
What’s the big deal?

Marco Rubio claims
Not to have a clue
As to what the man did
But it’s what he didn’t do
That had the student riled
Yet even if he knew
His response would be the same
Cuz you know how they do

Ted Cruz is clearly guilty
Of overreach
By trying to frame the argument
As about free speech
It might be free
But still, don’t we teach,
Not to use the “N” word
In polite company at least

WHEN IT COMES TO MEXICANS
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

I think their skin is thin
When it comes to Mexicans
And their immigration status
Though Cubans can come here gratis
They’re among the baddest
When it comes to having compassion
They act like compassion's old fashion
And so they’re continuously bashing

Others who want to come here
For the same reasons they hold dear
See the Green Card was a gift
For those from the Mariel boat lift
Though they were among Cuba’s worst
They got a path road to citizenship first
While law abiding Haitians were kept out
Tell me what was that all about?

Some want to send them all back
Like a matter of white and black
To the places that they come from
Even if that notion is real dumb
I think they’re talking out of their ***
Cuz who’s gonna cut their grass
Or watch their children night and day
If we take them all away

There are other beside them ya know
They might want to encourage to go
But nine times out of ten you’ll find
That never crosses their mind
So they can go ahead and build their wall
Make it ten or fifteen feet tall
But remember we’re all on the land
Of the indigenous forgotten Red man!

...HIS MOTHER'S HEAD?
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

He took a hammer
To his mother’s head?
At least that’s what
I think he said
Or perhaps it was
Something I read
Thank God he changed his mind
Or his mother might be dead

Say what?
A steel knife to the gut
Thank God
There was a but
Cuz the belt buckle
Did jut
And his knife got
Broken up

Then there was the guy
He tried to rock
With a solid brass
Pad lock
Much to
That other’s shock
He now claims
To have taken stock

But imagine
If you can
What manner
Of man
Would plot those thing
Then plan
So help me
Understand

THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

I don’t want to be
The devil’s advocate
But Carly Forina
In the aggregate
Looks like a demon
And better yet
She’d be a president
We’d live to regret

Donald Trump
Might have made a case
When he enjoined us
To look at that face
Who would elect her
And in any case
Her Hewlet Packard tenure
Was a disgrace

Anyone can provoke
Massive layoffs
Like a non-contender
For the playoffs
She says she’s a savior
Former employees scoff
It’s campaign rhetoric
She should knock off

I’ll give it to her
She’s very well spoken
But a business genius
She’s got to be joking
Which prompts me to ask
What has she been smoking
By the end of the race
She’ll clearly be broken

TO BE FAIR
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

To be fair
And I might say, perfectly clear
It his paradigm to prepare
Jeb Bush is quite aware
Of the tortoise and the hare
Despite fits and starts and a scare
He’s convinced that he’ll be there
And his victory is close it’s near

His burden was a ton
But when it’s all said and done
He’ll be the only one
Basking in the sun
Counting all his mon’
Happy to have run
Declared the favorite son
It didn’t take a Gatling gun

Jeb’s been
Mild mannered And meek
Going after What he seeks
Though it took a while to peak
It didn’t mean the man was weak
He’ll be dancing cheek to cheek
Showing off his new technique
A risen star so to speak

Now some might say
He’s dreaming
At least that’s how it’s seeming
But he’s plotting and he’s scheming
Quietly instead of screaming
See his future’s bright and gleaming
And he cannot help but beaming
At the others futile scheming

WHEN TRUMP AND CARSON FALL
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

When Trump and Carson fall
And the foolishness ceases
Rubio will be there
To pick up the pieces
He’s salivating
As his chance increases
He’s now looking at curtains
And White House leases

When Trump and Carson fall
And the race is in shambles
He’ll bet his  house
You see. The man gambles
He’s not alone
Cuz there’s many other examples
Of men who’ve picked up swatches
And other samples

When Trump and Carson fall
And they look towards the rest
Rubio’s convinced
That he alone is the best
In fact he’s thinking
Nevertheless
It will be him and not the others
There’s no contest

When Trump and Carson fall
As inevitably they must
And Marco Rubio watches the others
Bite the dust
As they complain
Then spit and cuss
Marco will be the one
To lead the rest of us

Cedric McClester Nov 2015

Conservatives, Republicans,
Potential voters
May I have your attention
I’m not here to praise Obama
But rather to bid him good riddance
Donald Trump and the others
Have said he was a disaster as President
And they are all wise and honorable men

They say Obamacare is a catastrophe
And I’m sure the millions now insured
Who wouldn’t otherwise be agree
Because they are wise and honorable men
Unemployment is at an all time low
As a consequence of President Obama’s failed policies
As his detractors are quick to point out
If elected they would take back everything he’s accomplished
Which isn’t much given he inherited a depression

Now that things have pretty much
Turned completely around
Why should he get credit for it
Things must have righted themselves
No thanks to him of course
As the wise honorable men and others
Would surely attest
Despite the fact that he received little help

He’s been thwarted every step of the way
And in spite of it all, succeeded anyhow
Yet he deserves no credit as we have been told
For they are wise and honorable men for the most part
President Obama is leaving the country
Much better off than when he inherited it
But we are constantly being told
That he has been a dismal failure as history will no doubt judge

Anything that ***** did
Is something they couldn't get with
When he succeeded, Heaven forbid
Republicans just blew their lids
Now let’s take ObamaCare
They’d like it to disappear
But it ain’t going anywhere
And that gives ‘em quite a scare

It makes them so distraught
They despise the things he’s brought
Seems B’rer Rabbit can’t get caught
Not as easily as they thought
Look at all that he’s achieved
They’re confounded - can’t believe
What he’s pulled from his sleeve
It’s hard for them to conceive

After all the hell he caught
And the battles that he fought
Who knew - or would have thought
That his efforts weren’t for naught
But when God is on your side
No matter what your enemy’s tried
Their results will be denied
And you know I haven’t lied

Now as much as he’s defamed
I believe he’ll still be named
Among the great ones that have came
And his critics will be shamed
When history records his record
And future generations check it
After they read and dissect it
What he’s accomplished won’t be neglected

UNCLE BEN AIN'T GONNA WIN
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Uncle Ben
Ain’t gonna win
But white folks continue
To humor him
He’s now ahead
In all the polls
Like others before him
Who’ve sold their souls

Uncle Ben
Had a violent past
He’d have us believe
That he’s cured at last
But the media said
Not so fast
No one remembers him
As a **** alas

Uncle Ben
Was good with his hands
And could do all the things
That intricate surgery demands
But the dark side
That he's tried to project
No one can remember
And so he's suspect

Uncle Ben
As a matter of fact
Hasn't a rabbit's *** idea
How to reach fellow blacks
Let me give him a hint
Not with a rap that is wack
Because all that demonstrates
Is that he lacks tact

Cedric McClester, Copyright © 2015.  All rights reserved.
Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson launched a pathetic rap commercial on black radio  that was geared to attract black voters.  Not only was the rap anemic but it was also insulting to a black electorate that traditionally votes Democrat with out the dumb down appeal that people in Dr. Carson's camp felt best would appeal to blacks, which they obviously view in stereo-typical terms.
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

If black lives really matter
How come black blood
Constantly splatters
In places like Chicago
And Baltimore
Or Boston, Mass
I’ve been keeping score
So you know I could name a whole lot more

If black lives really matter
Let’s not solely focus on the police
It’s not their bullets
That disturb our peace
We’re our own worst enemies
To say the least
So let’s keep the focus on us
If we want the killing to cease

If black lives really matter
How come blacks find it so easy to take a black life
And black communities are getting sadder
Because internecine warfare is rife
Some myths we need to shatter
Or cut them out with a knife
So we can stop the idle chatter
And deal with the stress and strife

If black lives really matter
Then take a panoramic view
It’s worst - in fact it’s badder
Than we even knew
We’ve fallen off Jacob’s ladder
And you know that’s true
So I’m not about to flatter
Those who don’t have a clue

A NEW RELIGION
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Judging by the way you’re living
You may need a new religion
You’re always taking never giving
I think you need a new religion

Ignorance tends to be blind
Some people have to have a sign
Before they have a change of mind
Take the advice that I’m giving
I think you need a new religion

I think you need a new religion
It ain’t all about just you
I think you need a new religion
And I think you know it too

Take a look within your soul
Each new day is one day old
Acquiesce before you’re cold
And if I may be so bold
I think you need a new religion

You’re not deserving of the glory
You should take some inventory
Get defensive and you’ll bore me
This is why I emplore thee
I think you need a new religion

I think you need a new religion
It ain’t all about just you
I think you need a new religion
And I think you know it too

Take a look within your soul
Each new day is one day old
Acquiesce before you’re cold
And if I may be so bold
I think you need a new religion

Judging by the way you’re living
You may need a new religion
You’re always taking never giving
I think you need a new religion

THERE'S ALWAYS A REASON WHY
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Planes don’t just fall from the sky
There’s always a reason why
Mechanical failure might apply
Or sabotage they will deny
But the truth will soon emerge
The very thing they want to purge
Sabotage is bad for business
And we know that they do get this

For Russians it‘s hard to take
Coming home from Sharm el-Sheikh
That a bomb ISIS did make
Could cause them that much heartache
But no matter what you say
They’re gonna make somebody pay
Cuz it can’t go down that way
So rest assured they will convey

Strong outrage and dissatisfaction
Against the ones who took that action
And their ire’s gaining traction
Soon we’ll all see their reaction
A lot of blood is gonna spill
Now that they will wanna ****
Those who wished them such ill will
So for ISIS it’s all down hill

ISIS had better eat their spinach
Cuz by the time the Russians finish
They will clearly be diminished
Beaten at the line of scrimmage
One shouldn’t target a non-combatant
But that’s clearly is what happened
And it fits their usual pattern
So look for ISIS to be flatterned

ADDICTION IN SUBURBIA
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester

Remember when addiction
Was just a black and brown affliction?
Don’t you long for those Halcyon days
Before your kids picked up their ways
Before the face of addiction changed
And the situation got rearranged
We share more in common than you knew
Your kids are becoming zombies too

So as you seek to absolve ‘em
Hoping they can overcome the problem
You put on a happy face and pretend
That you’re not at your wits end
It’s an old familiar song
You asking, " Where did I go wrong?"
Because it’s becoming very plain
That the pain is just the same

Now addiction’s a major issue
So you grab another tissue
As you try to figure out
How did this thing come about
But the answer is elusive
Drug addiction is all inclusive
See it never occurred to ya
That it would take over suburbia

Don’t even bother to explain
I understand - I feel your pain
And the thing you fear the most
Is one day they’ll overdose
So you pray they never do it
That they never take you through it
And night after night you cry
Hoping that they will not die

YOU CLAIM TO BE CHRISTIAN
Cedric McClester Nov 2015
By: Cedric McClester
You claim to be Christian
But where’s your Christian charity
You talk, the people listen
But what is it they see
You claim to be Christian
So why aren’t you helping me
Something is clearly missing
From your gospel ministry

You claim to be a Christian
But your behavior is absurd
Proof should be manifested
In more than just your words

You claim to be Christian
But you don’t live up to the creed
You’re against a safety net
For those who are in need
You claim to be Christian
But you’re so slow to forgive
In the final analysis
You’ll be judged on how you lived

You claim to be a Christian
But your behavior is absurd
Proof should be manifested
In more than just your words

You want moral supremacy
But that can never be
Faith lacking in good works
Isn’t faith at all ya see

You claim to be Christian
But you never keep your word
A more accurate description
Might be hypocrite (ya heard)
You claim to be Christian
And while that well may be
Nothing about your actions
Reflects Jesus don’t cha see

You want moral supremacy
But that can never be
Faith lacking in good works
Isn’t faith at all ya see

You claim to be Christian
But where’s your Christian charity
You talk the people listen
But what is it they see
You claim to be Christian
So why aren’t you helping me
Something is clearly missing

(DOA) DEAD ON ARRIVAL
Cedric McClester Oct 2015
By: Cedric McClester

They hope against hope
For survival
But what are they?
Dead on arrival
Historic footnotes
Perhaps archival
No longer contenders
Or arch rivals

Former debaters
At the kids table
Who wanted a chance
To prove themselves able
To break out and join
The rest of the stable
All they needed
Was a booster cable

But as another one
Bit the dust
Going down
In total disgust
The frontrunners
Remained nonplussed
While observing
All that’s left is just us

See their base
Was so hell bent
On making sure
That the message sent
Was conservative to the core
As far as that went
And they we’re determined
Not to relent

After all the words are said
And after all the blood’s been bled
We salute the fallen dead
Then we forge straight on ahead
Cos it seems we never learn
That the tide will have to turn
Though it should be of concern
Like I said we never learn

Take that books right off the shelf
As history repeats itself
And read the pages as they turn
Past the lessons never learned

After all the bullets fly
From the guns that we deny
Contribute to the reason why
So many young among us die
Cos it seems we never learn
That the tide will have to turn
Though it should be of concern
Like I said we never learn

Take that books right off the shelf
As history repeats itself
And read the pages as they turn
Past the lessons never learned

Where are those who came before
The ones who also did ignore
The futility of war
Here at home and offshore
Cos it seems we never learn
That the tide will have to turn
Though it should be of concern
Like I said we never  learn

Take that books right off the shelf
As history repeats itself
And read the pages as they turn
Past the lessons never learned

And after all the blood’s been bled

FIRST THE RHETORIC…
Cedric McClester Oct 2015
By: Cedric McClester

First the rhetoric then the violence
Can we have a moment of silence
From hateful words and the alliance
Of wing-nuts urging defiance

Corporations control the people
Now it’s turned violent and gotten evil
They're just like the boll weevil
Destroying lives of common people
The rich direct the politics
With constant lies and ***** tricks
Then add sound bites into the mix
And it confuses average hicks

First the rhetoric then the violence
Can we have a moment of silence
From hateful words and the alliance
Of wing-nuts urging defiance

A Congresswoman went to town
Only to have been shot down
The bullet casings found on the grown
Suggests he fired round after round
Now that’s no way to disagree
Or show anger as the case may be
See what it is that he didn’t see
He’s was manipulated like you and me

First the rhetoric then the violence
Can we have a moment of silence
From hateful words and the alliance
Of wing-nuts urging defiance

Are you beginning to get the picture
They’ve become a permanent fixture
Add politics into the mixture
And their bromide is no elixir
For the things that clearly ail
Their prescription is made to fail
Because the argument has turned stale
And all of them should go to jail

First the rhetoric then the violence
Can we have a moment of silence
From hateful words and the alliance
Of wing-nuts urging defiance

NOT OPEN TO DEBATE
Cedric McClester Oct 2015
By: Cedric McClester

It’s not even open to debate
ISIS or the Islamic State
Proselytizes nothing but hate
While trying their best to conflate
Islam with the things they do
Which is forbidden in Islam’s view
Look at the sins that they accrue
By doing what Muslims eschew

ISIS leader, Al Baghdadi can’t wait
To take on the mantle of the caliphate
Even though they always assassinate
Those who assume that lofty weight
There’s death and destruction everywhere
Which is evidence Baghdadi doesn’t care
How he conducts his foreign affairs
And the whole world's acutely aware

Was Nine-Eleven the catalyst
And the neo-cons the strategists
How did it all come down to this
And who said they’re the pragmatists
Now ISIS has gone full throttle
Because the genie is out of the bottle
But who called them a role model
When their own mothers they wouldn’t coddle

By now the only logical deduction
Is there were no weapons of mass destruction
That was just the introduction
To shock and awe the full production
So now we’re reduced to counting the dead
And all of the snakes from Medusa’s head
The whole Middle East has turned blood red
And we all must sleep in that messed up bed

WHAT GOES UP WILL COME DOWN
Cedric McClester Oct 2015
By: Cedric McClester

One life lesson
That I’ve found
Is what goes up
Will come down
For some that serves
To astound
When their poll numbers
Start dipping down

When number two
Suddenly surges
And juxtaposition
Is what emerges
Sometimes confusion
And fear converges
But there’s no need
For funeral dirges

There’s always someone
In the pack
Who most considers
Too far back
To ever makeup
That much slack
But that doesn’t
Have to be a fact

Watch out for those
In the rear
Who may be closer
Than they appear
The ones that
Finally get in gear
Can end up
Giving the pack a scare

Wall Street execs plundered
Everything in sight
Then the banks went under
That got everyone uptight
There’s something to be said
For experience
But that might well be *******
By judgment and common sense

Things are getting nastier
Than they’ve ever been
But what is it they plan to do
If they want to win

Folks can’t pay their mortgages
Or their grocery bills
They believe in country first
But that won’t cure their ills
Attacking the opposition
Doesn’t provide an answer
That can actually address
This ever-growing cancer

Things are getting nastier
Than they’ve ever been
But what is it they plan to do
If they want to win

One side’s throwing mud
At the camera screen
The other offers no solutions
You know what I mean
Desperation brings out insanity
But it don’t do a thing
For folks like you and me

Things are getting nastier
Than they’ve ever been
But what is it they plan to do
If they want to win

Things are getting nastier
Than they’ve ever been
While suggestions and solutions
Have been paper thin
The question shouldn’t be
Who is he or she
All I want to know
Is what they’ll do for me
