Let me dream in rain

a song caressed by green trees

wet washing me free
CA Guilfoyle Jan 2013
Her hands bloomed with fragrant caress
soft as summer grass and petals
she touched the world

With gardens and tulips trumpeting songs
in reddish hues, amidst magenta
peony blooms

Apples and roses her face of flowers
ripe in autumn meadows, she held her children close
gathered ever near her love
before the winter's
dawn
CA Guilfoyle Jul 2012
A rocky trail ****** my gait, tripping
lofty lookout tower - now climbs the striking hour
clouds uncover sun's sleeping fire
hillsides purple dotted bled
I peaked the lonesome spire
CA Guilfoyle Sep 2014
I am lost in mourning winds, a desert sand drift
a dandelion wisp buried in ocean depths
an emptiness in the blue of longings
this traveling is slow mud, I trudge
blue red fields of life's blood
the disappearing of the ones I love
they have flown far and gone
leaving me to linger
looking for the sun
the moon to come
and so I walk on
heartbroken today my friends, absolutely heartbroken, losing my brother so soon after my Father, sigh..........
CA Guilfoyle Sep 2017
Fallen leaves, mud and trees
roots, willowy dark and deep
tangled and moving through the water
legs and feet, the moon-green heat
August's fiery stars, the red blood of mars
fretful season of fires and floods.
CA Guilfoyle Oct 2012
He was covered in oil that day
crawling undercover he did not play
Tossed out, abandoned to the rains
to join the ranks of strays
Green eyed guy found hiding, crying
shivering alone
Now Mr. Black is fat
in his happy
home
a little poem for my cat Jasper, whom I adore more than just about anything =^..^=
CA Guilfoyle Feb 2013
He had many cars
and slept sad each night alone
he drove love away
CA Guilfoyle Jun 2012
You came honey in hand
glint in your eye
sticky sweet summer pie

Honeycombed days, we sang
meadow-ed daisy laughter

Bees on blackberries, thorny fingered reaches
blowing sea grass, sandy toed beaches

You were intoxicating
in your honey house hive
piano keyed, golden heart sighs

Musical notes, deeply toned, hallowed we played
on softest wings we flew away.
CA Guilfoyle Jun 2016
It was more like alabaster, but I could only be sure
of one thing; it was an exquisite lesson in anatomy
cold ancient, pale Roman stone, the arm half gone
strongly curved, the rippling of muscle, hair and bones
a man held by pillar, marble like legs of smoothest stone
his eyes deep set that wended near, then waywardly away
the kind that strangely follow sometimes linger into the next day
broad faced, cheekbones perfectly amid the shadows
and I don't mind saying while on my museum trip
though he was a statue, I thought to kiss
those divinely sculpted lips.
CA Guilfoyle Jun 2016
Strange music playing
I never know from where it comes
always on a whim it wanders and goes
a flute, warm breathed upon my flesh
sometimes cool night jazz
a deep toned oboe, I breathe in wildly slow
drums synced in rhythmic beats
now a bass guitar strummed ever dark
a haunting violin that moans
ripping at the heart.
CA Guilfoyle Apr 2017
I play guitar unpolished
red rust of my finger tips, bleeding
no school for this, still I wish
I'd somehow gone or sang with
my mouth unbound and loud
sang like a deep well of bells
that rang each day and I had come to listen.
CA Guilfoyle Feb 2013
My home has no walls to look upon
no roof to stave off wild beasts or tame the restless seas
no window glass, so clear my days to gaze
A soul to dwell in mystery
so soon my days to fly away
yet stand the oaks of long ago
watching children play

Morning wore a robe of clouded sun
rain washed the day away, til broke the sun again
hidden in a thicket brush sang a tiny bird
sweet songs to light the darkness
from this world
CA Guilfoyle Nov 2014
Pretty they said, oh but it was summer
when she bloomed, and wildfires came along
dancing across fields - wind songs
blowing through her mind
and there she stayed
sleeping much too late
to flee the lake of fire
CA Guilfoyle Sep 2016
With eyes, like owls - great horned or a night cat's
his arms, tree branched, heavy laden, strong
with legs, sturdy pillars for mountains climbed
hair of silken silver brushed upon my skin
his essence, forged by nights and wildfire pines
his reddened lips, softly melting into mine.
CA Guilfoyle Mar 2013
Now soon the hills and days go green in flowering fields
sweet will sing, black red wings amidst the grassy reeds
silent lily pond no more to keep winter's secrets in
lotus blossom opens your eyes
the center, your heart
revealed
CA Guilfoyle Jun 2012
Summer sky nebulae
magenta blue kaleidoscope
interstellar clouds through telescopes
CA Guilfoyle Jan 2015
When I can no longer dredge, move water
dragging silt through sand, disappearing
my hands tied by seaweed, clawed and crabbed
strange ocean of paraphernalia, I trudge the land
my lips, red crusts and salty bled
fingers stiff, rusty locks, rubber gloved
swallowed up, fastening round a net, a trap
to pull the ocean in
CA Guilfoyle Nov 2014
Black geese on the waves today
crashed, then flew away
blackness was the water
that called my name, late
and never again the same
deep dark well, a cave
I went looking in, the deeper
I go, ever an echo
that calls my name
naked, stripped of shame
my heart revealed
never again
the same
CA Guilfoyle Feb 2013
It came soft the dusk across your face,
glowing rosy pink
A setting sea that drank the day
with silence wildly
Your eyes became the outer lands
and sang the night of summer
Soft as sand a bed of grassy meadow
our hearts to bloom fragrantly
open as a flower
CA Guilfoyle Mar 2018
In the evening comes the dim light, the swooping away of day,
the blue, gray clouds, the turbulent air of wild birds
small specs, black and disappearing.
After awhile only quiet,
and then a certain silence settles in
it moves like fog, alongside the moon
it comes cold, blanketing the soul
a depth of space unknown
a well of darkness, undiscovered
the losing of this day, this light
and in the long, lingering hours
dwelling in the dark caved places
touching the soul and flooding the heart
the crashing waves will come
to break one wildly apart.
CA Guilfoyle Nov 2014
two birds
a sky disappearing
lost in clouds with you
soft cotton, downy feathers blue
now soon the end of day
gives way, dark as indigo
black, as light strays away
we bathe neath blinking stars
through windows sparkling blue
candles of the moon, our room
of fruits and wildflowers strewn
here we lay, only to die
only to bloom
CA Guilfoyle Nov 2014
Walking this trail, all is strange
I am still round, remembering the rain
this desert with its saguaro looking people, my friends
snakes and the hissing heat of day, now crawl away
into the melting sea sky of orange, red
into the indigo rising, turning black
no sound of cities, no world out there to cry
only the calling of stars, musical notes
songs twinkling in time with
the hot honey yellow moon.

Tonight
a million flowers loom
clouds of gypsophila bloom
at my window and beyond
the jasmine vines, they crawl
saturate and scent my paper walls
these night lilies, only a dalliance
that blooms and fades
your hands soft upon my legs
we are drunk from dulcet wine
sung from the moon that dips
caress of your reddened lips
as we travel this world
lilting softly slow.

Tonight in this garden

clouds of gypsophila loom
at my window and beyond
with fragrant vines, that crawl
saturate, scented paper walls
these night lilies, only a dalliance
that blooms and fades
your hands soft upon my legs
we are drunk from dulcet wine
sung from the whisper of moon that dips
caress of your reddened lips
all other time is now lost
as we travel this world
lilting softly slow
CA Guilfoyle May 2015
This evening, with the wind
of my curtains breathing, I listen for night birds
watch the room grow pale
the finality of day, a nightly ritual
how skies reconstruct themselves over again
twinkle and murmur of stars
cynosure of all planets, even unseen
clouds like amnesia, hide things
our earthbound slipping away
of days lost irretrievable
CA Guilfoyle Jul 2015
It came softly warm, mist of fragrant showers
garden flowers of parchment petals
drank of sun, of moon, of rain
silent the Perseid showers
a falling sea of rain
sparkling in the night sky.
CA Guilfoyle Jun 2014
In the evening, by the sea
subtle ripples, bright as liquid silver, flash
an ocean of color, to drink away the sun
a line of light fades into skies of night
from the call of deepest dark
a birth of luminous stars
such blue, white fires, only burn
no cares, no seasons do they discern
they have come and gone, without our knowing
they will never sleep, only change in cosmic storms
burning away in the vastness
of other forms

Tears burn melt the flame
Ages fly - die the living
Final sleeps my dream

River, branches grasped
Earth,  my world spinning round
Released, I float on
CA Guilfoyle Sep 2015
Oh when I was north, cold
and white as snow geese
blue on water ice, I'd fly
glide on frozen ponds
cry with snowflake eyes
sigh of winter's long goodbye
CA Guilfoyle Oct 2014
How can I ever paint the sky with mere words?
my language, pales northern lights
waves of color impossible to derive
from ghostly glowing skies
spirit merges, flies
CA Guilfoyle Apr 2017
Clear water, drinking in - earth soaked
purple violets and fiddle head ferns
cold bulbs and garden tubers, buds and flowers unfurl.
The mating clash of birds, their chirpy squawks and words
an aromatic lilac trance in a variance of blue.
Grass and toes, cool and cold
northern winds of spring.
CA Guilfoyle Jul 2013
Pillow, soft nest of dreams, she slept upon
gorgeous birds embroidered flew
across lakes, blue water fields

swells of seas break, calling swans home
willowy winds sigh, whispers, feathers fly

willow tree shadows alight her slumbering walls
as northern summer fades to Fall
this is an older poem. revised
CA Guilfoyle Jun 2013
It was a lilac day, a dream of scented heaven
what world sings of this blue, green summer?
Early morning raindrops splash giant maples,
droplets of sun, above far hills
alighting flowering fields, with flashing wings
of tiny sparrows

Cormorant swoops, the falling sky, far beyond
clouds of pink edge the bluest sky
silvery fish, below in cooling waves
blue herons stalk long where
seaweed sways

Sunlight poured, warming mossy woods
tallest trees breathing steam - spectrally
lichen blooms, tiny flowers in the sun
before the dawn of washing rain
a silent ancient forest
CA Guilfoyle Oct 2013
Lies, sins, pretty grins
a face to dance you away
spins your days so grey
CA Guilfoyle Jan 2014
In childhood days of dream, with grassy greens,
and swings we soared the warmest breeze,
in blue skies of laughter.

Under a canopy of wonder,
we laid under, O' the hours of summer slumber,
the lazy slow of watching meadow flowers grow.

Spring it sings in budding greens and seeds
with rain and sun, the days you've grown
acorns planted for rebirth

I press my hands to your trunk
and feel myself divinely rooted to this earth.
CA Guilfoyle May 2017
Living on the ocean as I do, I hunt fish and mollusks
my kin are otters and whales, wide eyed we dive
the night waves, soft in lullabies
in a sea dream, starlit and moon cradled
my lips are sparkling and salt flecked
my eyes wide awake from sleep
in a myriad of visions these sea colors
all my days, swum in a variance of blues
oceans deep and streaked in silver shoals
the day skies fade and die, into nights
plush and indigo blue.
CA Guilfoyle Jan 2015
Green tangle, narrow spiny fingered
your prickling sharpens, midday's heat
bearing scarlet flowers
this bird feeder
a drink
CA Guilfoyle Dec 2014
Stillness bathes my room, the stars have gone
slow sweeps the light of dawn
watery windows breathe of cold
spider mandala art has gone
now sleeps the garden green
of gorgeous lily bowers
silence has come
the quiet of flowers
falling down
CA Guilfoyle Jul 2013
Today all the linden trees shrouded in black, no flowers only death, so quiet crept
killing summer bees, that can no longer sing - of honey flowers afield
death crying at the door, their silence praying to be heard
and still unthinking man poisons our fragile world
Today I attended a memorial for the 50,000 bees that were killed last week at a Target parking lot in Wilsonville, Oregon.  http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_27792.cfm

Pesticide and Herbicide use needs to stop, we are killing everything, bird, bees, bugs & us!
No round up either, that stuff is bad, bad news, lots of horrible health issues linked to it
CA Guilfoyle Feb 2013
Tears - blue water waves rolling in
rain falling sweeping cross my face
winds of palms waving
I fly away
CA Guilfoyle Jul 2012
The morning sang to meadow-ed fields
mountains hummed the clouds far off,
skies went wildly blue
Strolling fragrantly in the cutting rows
lavender florets fell between dreaming toes
Scented mounds infused the path
provence, grosso, royal velvet, I chose
Woody stemmed grey, green, blue
bent breaking fragrance in the heated dew
Cabbage moths danced to singing bees
daydreaming
- I flew in lavandula breeze
Went amongst bees today in the lavender fields...I guess it's as close as I'll come to feeling like a bee!
they buzzed all around me, it was magical!

It was Spring, late May
and I so late, for class
poetry lessons of Mr. Davis
the hours, soon and fast
how warmth would come
a fleeting sort of sun
language poured rain
cried words
never again
the same
To the single most influential person to me early on, here on Hello Poetry.
I thank you Frank : )

Of all the colors
or incense of fragrance imbued
of lavender in fields, violet blue
or softer still the lilac florets all abloom
pale silk, sweet the honeysuckle dew
drips and drinks the yellow painted tanager
and flits afield the newly winged swallowtail
the thrum and dance of bees bright in floral symphonies
gathering, heavy laden in the bending breeze
of all the colors, this bird iridescently shimmering
blue into the disappearing trees
too soon another day to lose
of all the colors, a favorite
I can never choose.
CA Guilfoyle Jul 2016
Very early before the birds
the morning moon travels to underworlds
gathering stars and seas of glowing pearls
when swift the sweep of darkness goes
the night from black to indigo
blue in layers, the light unravels
then wends the coming day
the dawning sky of gold.
CA Guilfoyle Aug 2014
In the garden, a bird, a flower
gold the edge, gold the dawn that hovers
a song of summer, a tiny sparrow perched
long upon the woody yarrow, that musky fills the air
a redolent warmly breeze, brushes by the maple trees
caressing sweet the singing leaves and breathes the air of heaven
in the gold of a halcyon summer
beyond the hills of sage, grey plumes
the stark blue sky cloudless looms
and sings with birds in lilting waves high above the field
they break the silence in a world transformed
a song - void of man's ordinary words.
CA Guilfoyle Dec 2012
Cool grass
wet rain soaked
fallen leaves bled
dead, decayed
ghostly offerings

wet bark, moss and bones
damp, gray and gone
birth of blue light sun lives one
burning into tomorrow
when yesterday becomes
the past, the dust
of us
CA Guilfoyle Mar 2015
The final blue hours of day
the falling to your sway
the mad of reason slipping away
under the pale moon, of night's dawn
with stars all strung, you'll come
so soon to taste, to kiss me
a crushing fire, to quench
to melt, to take me
CA Guilfoyle Mar 2016
December's child
with fire you were forged
your eyes are liquid amber poured
always I dream to kiss
your perfect lips divinely cast
the sweetness of your breath
the warmth that moves across my flesh
your hands and arms are sculpted bronze museum art
indelibly in mind when you are far
the hot of your delicious mouth
traveling gently, slowly south.
CA Guilfoyle Jun 2014
I will see you in the fields of days
in the blue or grey of thundering storms
though wild rivers change course
and I lose ground, you steadfast remain
you are the rousing dawn of birdsong
the silver sun of white light flashing
you are the wind, a whisper, a kiss
upon my face, that lifts my sullen eyes
all the tears, your infinite ocean washes away
and I am left upon the shore, where only love remains
