In this park there are birds atop ice cakes
stiff mittened kids, cold nosed and half froze
they slide on paths of glass, toward home.
A small stream cuts through this place,
black water humming with coots and ducks.
Long toothed icicles waiting to impale the earth.
Beneath our feet, we crack and shatter tiny frozen ponds,
revealing muddied blades of grass, green as in summer.
A myriad of birds in the sun, come to puff and quiver,
but soon the mountain clouds will come to shroud
the day, the sky so cold, a frost in grey and silver.

Snow is falling
lightest snowflakes float
across fields deep
disappearing
densely slow
my feet

Night is glowing
snowy owl flies
from sight
lost in moon clouds
fading light

Stars are humming
in fields of velvet
black

the earth
the universe
the breath and pulse
of life

Lily white the mountains disappearing into sky,
silence of snow, growing ever deep the day and fades away,
I cannot tell where cloud meets dell, on such a winter's eve.
Night will glow in moon tones, cold the foggy grey,
stars will shine for another, some other world away.
Dark and light, void of color, a palette
in winter shades.

In spring with green buds
I dream of flowers, the silk petals of your lips
the flashing of butterfly lashes
soft upon my flesh
kisses flitting soft winged
across my face
in a myriad of colors
we'll create.

He is from fields, endless prairies
runs with buffalo on the Oklahoma plains
all of nature runs through him
restless as a river, he is winding
weaving, fording the depths of soul
masterful, he spends days exploring the outer lands
his hands must be winter leather worn, and warm
in Spring he gathers flowers for his lady's home
sees her essence in sky blue clouds
wanders the salt creek way back home
or sometimes lost in the wild hills
he may lay all the day, watching shadows fall
the wane of sun that melts into moon
or watching storms in gradient greys
windy skies sway with darkest rain
he is soaking in all that he can hold
all of nature transforms his soul
his words are woven - spun gold
sublime, are his poems
to behold.

Ocean swimming, buoyant blue
salt encrusted hair of jewels
seaweed shimmering, waves entangling
savoring, deep her belly breath of sea
with a mermaid tail, to flash in hues of green
wearing rings and pearls, she swirls in a sea of stars
radiantly, far below the moon.

The rain it pooled deep within the leaf, the hollow
and drank there - insect, vole and swallow
along a mud and marshy path, my feet for to follow
and tread upon the lichen moss, I sank softly greening
watching all the day, the trickling of the woodland trees
the light that breathed there glistening.

It was only ever flowers, in a meadow wild
tangled tendril vines, of blue eyed passiflora
caressing stems of blooming heart, delicate dicentra
shining silver in early summer, a pond of silken mirrors
leafy vines of garland rings, nature weaved
perfectly a tranquil scene of bonny swans
float silently amidst fallen petals
soft nests of downy feathers, wispy on the winds
that a woodland summer drifts on

You are a traveler of the South lands
brown, a leathered skin coyote
desert walker of the Sonoran sands
crafty, black magic witch
a shaman, lucid dreamer
Yaqui Indian spell weaver
of visions, of paintings in the sand
mixing colors, peyote flowers
red, the melting of the aloe bowers
dark blood, the blooming agave towers
thick with snakes, the fire and hiss
that burns black of sacaton grass
the quiver and flash of flying sparks
igniting night, time traveling to the stars.

There were birds, and yesterday's flowers,
the children laughing, never noticed fall retreating
or when winter began, forest faeries sprinkled snowflakes,
sparkling to cover the land, with magic until the Spring again,
when all their days were deep in lilies, silken petals
held dear in tiny hands, and very soon
Summer berries, reddest cherries
were laden sweetly, solely
just for them.

Sad the hour of denial's disbelief
a day that never comes when years young of frolicking
Playful sweetest boy, swaying tail pure of joy
fluff ball dog in white, too soon your tired night
Long did run, his field days sung
we say goodbye, so cold yesterday's
setting sun
My father had to say goodbye to his long time dog/friend Billy yesterday, a sad day : (

In a drowning river I went - to swim
only a short while with you
the flail and falter of cruel water
caught in the reigning thunder
impossible to breathe when held under
yours was a killing lure to be sure
a death trap of words
but no steel cage can ever hold
a sky full of beautiful birds.

My heart of sleeplessness
awakens me foolish
moonless from my rest
ache of cells and blood
a torrent, a flood
a rushing river
reaching for your hand
your reddened lips
soft a place to land

You were the gentle voice,
the moon that crept as I slept
caressed in lulling waves
Tides pulled heavily under your moons and beams
ocean's lost their way

Your hands shaped skies of day and night
planets all aligned
Your hair fell a streaming milky way
tangled celestial sighs
Moon cradled sleepily
long starried nights
