angels
sent from up above
woke her up
took her hand
and asked her what it was she hoped to discover
"turn your magic on"
she said
and so they went
on the adventure of a lifetime

"look at the stars"
the angels whispered to her
"look how they shine for you"
so she looked and reached up
a handful of stars
she lit up the world

and there awoke the sea
nature's own
the hills
they sang to her and so she danced
she loved  it all
the sense of belonging

stuck in reverse
the angels told her
it was time to go
and the tears streamed down her face
"lights will guide you home"
spoke the angels
"put your wings on me"
said the girl
and so they did
and so they went

leaving all of it behind
the girl let go of the stars
darkness now instilled in silence
a head full of dreams
now full of despair

the angels brought her home
to where she belonged
"goodnight"
the angels whispered
and so she slept
and dreamed
of paradise

I never thought
I could love You
More than I love
The stars
The sound of the ocean
Conversing deep within the soul of the world
I found it to be true
The stars shining brighter than ever before
Like they wanted us to see them
And wonder,
"What if"
Along the bay
Rocks walked all over
By adventurers
The realists

And You held the flashlight
So I followed You
Into the dark
Timeless
You asked me to write about us
How I fell in love with You
How I fell in love with the moment

And here it is

Shel Silverstein
Once I spoke the language of the flowers,
Once I understood each word the caterpillar said,
Once I smiled in secret at the gossip of the starlings,
And shared a conversation with the housefly
in my bed.
Once I heard and answered all the questions
of the crickets,
And joined the crying of each falling dying
flake of snow,
Once I spoke the language of the flowers. . . .
How did it go?
How did it go?

Walt Whitman
O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

William Shakespeare
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course untrimmed.
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st,
    So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
    So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

he played the same song
of love
running around in my dreams
all throughout my mind
the chords echoed in my head
touching the strings of my heart
oh so beautifully
he played
falling in love with him
like falling in love with the music
musically inspired by steve moakler

before leaving,
he spoke to me and said:

there are three things you must know.
remember them forever...

first,
never lose your sense of wonder.
crave adventure.
the unknown awaits you.

second,
never search for love.
instead,
discover it.

and finally,
never doubt your heart.
for it knows you better
than you know yourself.
