There he walks freely into the day,
His presence enough to make one's life gray.
No one is excused from his cruel wrath,
Tainted are those who walk amongst him in his path.

He who finds himself in his clutches,
Endangers all the others whom he touches.
A breath of fresh air he would lack,
A life he once enjoyed impossible to take back.

His unknowing victims stood at a line,
Before falling into a pit, thinking they're fine.
They lie between a man in white,
And the old man Azrael who walks the night.

As we danced with goodbyes in mind
Your stares pierced right into my soul
‘Tis something that happened out of chance
I see a new day that’s as dark as coal

While our bodies dance in synchrony,
Our hands are clenched oh so tight.
Darling I don’t want to let go,
I don’t want to lose you out of my sight.

To lay my eyes onto you one last time
Would feel like a strike, a stab into this fragile heart of mine
With a farewell that one would have to bid,
One can only pretend that one is genuinely fine.

With the last few steps that we can take,
I know that our love will age as fine as wine.
As time goes by and devours us all,
Always, I am yours and you are mine.

Something quickly pounds my brain
I'm about to go insane

It hurts to not be able to confide
What my soul is truly screaming inside

Most wouldn't understand, you see
There is no time that I felt free

We drink, we breathe, we dance
Shrugging the darkness that lies inside
We drink, we breathe, we dance
Empowering the mortal pride

'Carpe diem!' we vehemently scream
Carelessly into the mountain crest
We swam in the uncharted waters of life
And drove our lives from east to west

There will arrive a time that we must halt
But that does not mean that we are to stop living
The unrelenting journey will continue on
Even after our beloved ones stop grieving

Breathe deep, breathe clear, my friend
For the path is long and harsh
Do not dare close your eyes
Do not; even after you reached the stars

The roaring sound of the early morning breeze
Creeps through my ears
It tries its hardest to lull me to sleep,
By whispering my deepest, darkest fears

At the wee hours of the morning,
Where the calm and darkness dance and crawl,
People are dreaming deeply of a tomorrow
That may never come at all

As our cries are thrown silently to the void
And as the world sleeps tightly tonight
The solitude within the night comforts us
As we wait for the glorious morning light
As the title implies, I wrote this one when I failed to get some good night sleep and I cannot help but think of all the thoughts that make my head heavy.
