I drink from the cup
I ***** out foul poison
I drink it again.

i drank the poison
-not because i didn’t know it was poison
but because i hoped that i'd find a grain of sugar  
in those pretty lying eyes

they ask me if i'm still breathing
and i say, "yes,
i guess"
but maybe
we could all use a little more Jesus
in here
because weve been drowning
in storms we never had to adhere
to.

because if my poems have to be written in blood
to be noticed
i'd do it tenfold
so this
is where i stand
for desperation has replaced aspiration
and selfish gains have replaced passionate fame.

i hear my phone buzz
bzz! bzz! bzz!
and i hope its you
