My heart is paper thin;
As you tell me
                      you
                         love
                             me..

Do you mean it?

Or are you just telling me pretty
                                                      lies?
As you look me in the eyes...

Do you really care?

      Man;
           Im

                  *Scared....
My ex comes into my life and he screws me up. I have uncontrollable bursts of anger.. Is this normal? I want him back and he's showing he wants me but after I talk to him I'm in such a fowl mood...

Definition of
an American poet:
living a half-mile
from the canyon's cliff, but still
insists he lives on the edge.
A response to Impeccable Space Poetess' "This is a subultural song".

Being a musician and a poet most of my life, I have held many minimal-wage jobs to pay the bills.  Have lived on the scraps of American life for years, and lived in what most Americans would consider genteel poverty.  Rarely have missed a meal, and thanks to the kindness of friends and strangers, have never lived on the streets.  ISP reminded me in her poem of just how much I am grateful.

the Sandman
She says
Let's go
Live in a big city
And make art and change the world.
She can say this; she is art.
But my hands are bound
With ***** hair;
They cannot make.
He says
Come, run with me
We will live on the beach
And watch films and all will be love.
He can say this; he is love.
But my heart is strapped
With suds that wrap 'round it;
I cannot love.
They say
They are leaving
To live on the hills
And sit and think about life.
They can do this; they are life.
But mine is whirring and swirling
And whirlpooling
In a black drain.
Mother says
Get a good job, and marry someone
Who thinks like you and earns like you,
Eat, and breed, so your rabbits, too,
Can eat.
She can say this; she has bred, and earned, and eaten.
But I am held
By threads that catch
And tear on the jagged edges of my body:
Shoulders and eyebrows (sinking and rising,
in submission and rebellion).
Apartments constrict and choke;
Beaches drown me;
Hills are voyeurs with sharp surveillance;
And mansions
Have golden bars, that cling too tight.
For now though
— Shampoo, soap, drain, dry —
Monotony holds comfort
And museless function runs the key that jolts me
Onwards.
museless- uninspired and uncontemplated
Blossoms billow in slow-motion
Tender petals sigh to the ground
Cushioned upon a sunny breeze
And fat bees and lazy bluebottles
Are snoring gently
Bouncing softly
From bloom to gorgeous bloom
Glad-ragged and gleaming
In their gaudiest glory
And neon dragonflies drone
Adding to the sonerous  chorus
As they skim a sweltering pool
Where carp break the surface
Idly basking in the heat
There is a blackbird clarinetting
From the top of a nearby tree
And high-summer aromas
Pervade the shimmering air
And, just for this moment
Time itself stands still

ROLL ON!
O' bygone poet's,
For where hath
Thou gone;

O' bygone poet's,
I keepeth thee alive;
In mine poetic song's.

O' archaic poet's,
Arise from thy
sepulchre;

O' archaic poet's,
Hath thou gone
Lost; massacred.
