Tales of endless suffering
Of neighbours and strangers
The lives that dropped unripe
Do not my burden lighten
If I could lessen someone's woe
It would comfort my soul

Winter brings the bitter chill,
I shiver standing in the cold;
We warm ourselves near the fire,
We bring a tree into our home.

A blizzard wraps the wood around us,
A glistening blanket - snowy white;
Our forest is so silent now;
Stars shine like diamonds in the night.

In spring, the birds join in a choir,
Hundreds of songs in harmony,
I look around and hear them sing;
Flowers bloom so gloriously.

I smell the scent of fragrant rain;
Showers drench the fertile ground.
I see the trees begin to leaf,
Rustling rain comes pouring down.

In summer the sun radiates,
Filling the forest with all that's green.
Oak and pine fill my nose,
I walk beside the crystal stream.

The grass it grows higher, higher,
I feel it soft between my toes;
From time to time a storm arrives,
Clapping thunder, wind that blows.

Autumn brings a change in palette;
Squirrels hide their treasured 'corns;
The taste of nutmeg - pumpkin pie,
Jack-o'-lanterns at our doors.

Mouths are filled with apple cider;
Leaves piled upon the ground;
Children jump into them laughing,
Hidden in orange, maroon, and brown.

A thousand faces of the forest.
Winter; spring; summer; fall -
And yet the face of my beloved
Is more beautiful than them all.
"Hey!" I call out.
But of course it's unheard.
She flits back and fourth,
Like an uncertain bird.

She's tearing up piles,
Clothes flying behind.
She's frantically looked
In each region, but mine.

"*******!"
She yells to the sky.
"Of all things to lose,
This one goes in my eye."

I snicker. It's true.
A conundrum, she's got.
In the bathroom she speaks "Are you here??"
I am not.

She always sees through me,
What a wonderful girl
She brings me out with her
And I show her the world

Her life became clear,
The day I was hers.
Life before me, she recounts,
Was a blur.

She loves me, and I her.
You could say that I'm quacked.
She speaks through a sigh
"I hate you, Contact."
I wrote this for a class. The prompt was: "Write a poem that speaks from the point of view of a lost or misplaced item that used to belong to you."
It seems to me that Myths exist to put the mind at ease. It substitutes as reason for phenomena like these:
Why thunder booms
Why lightning strikes
Why the sun is gone at night
They ease our questions lending fears and banish out our fright.

Myths give life to many Gods
Who's lives compared to ours are odd
Some bring the sun to sky in day
Some ferri souls who've passed away
Some tend the earth, whom we call Mother
Some far more fair than any other

You ask me can these myths be true?
To decide my friend, that's up to you.
I wrote this for a Philosophy class. The assignment was just to write a bit in our journals on this topic, but why pass up an opportunity to rhyme?
Black holes share a selfish task: Imprison all existence
Voraciously consuming light with infinite persistence.

The death of stars gives birth to them
Bright light turned vacant chasm
And when you ask them where they went
They'll tell you no one has 'em

All across the galaxies,
these spots will span and spin.
Nostalgic of the stars they were,
they'll say "remember when?"

And even if you answered back, your
voice would go unheard
Cause just like light, no sound escapes:
It's trapped and that's assured.

Gravity's Relentless Pull
not only bends the light
It bends the minds of any who
bear witness to it's might

Now if I were immortal
also, if I couldn't die
and if I had the superpowers,
out to space I'd fly

And into hollow empty spans
Beyond the solar stretch
I'd venture to a massive hole
and into it I'd trek

How arduous, yet marvelous a
journey I would face
For the secrets I would come upon
have never been displaced
This is literally about black holes. It's not some deep metaphorical title.
I wrote this for a class. Me gusta.
the globe is warming
it's sickly sweet beneath
these thin sheets we share
as water levels rise
with every breath spit
into the atmosphere
by planes trains
and automobiles

maybe it's an inevitability
all i know
is that we've passed
the point of no return
it is irreversible
no denying a shifting climate
elevating seas and oceans
as seasons slip haphazardly
sending blood rushing
to our heads

let's live for today
since we could very well
be dead and buried
by the week's end
we won't go meekly
into the black holes
awaiting our solar system

apathy an enemy we'll transcend
hand-in-hand as champions
vanquishing impotent ideologies
steadfast sentinels
ancient as trees
guarding sacred mysteries
of this infinite cosmos
