Dear Amal , last night I had a strange dream about you.
I dreamed that suddenly you lived in my house.
In the morning my washing machine sounded.
I saw you washing all your clothes.

I took a shower and then I drank coffee on the terrace.
After that I cleaned my car while waiting for you to take a shower.
Then after taking a shower you wore a blue shirt , pink jacket and black jeans.
You put on your makeup and put on your ugly glasses.

I took you around my hometown Batu City , East Java.
A very calm and beautiful mountain town with cool air.
I drove my car slowly while you sat next to me.
You seemed happy to see the rice fields and vegetable gardens along the side of the road.

We stopped at a roadside stall.
We had chicken soto rice with boiled eggs for our breakfast.
The broth was very tasty with the addition of lime , koya powder and black soy sauce.
You tasted it and felt the deliciousness.

While eating you talked about your life.
You wanted to forget all the trauma. Because you suffered too much for a long time.
You just wanted to be able to feel truly alive again.

After breakfast I took you to visit Jatim Park 3.
This is one of the famous tourist attractions in Batu City.
You looked excited when you entered the dinosaur park.
We rode a small train around the entire park full of dinosaurs.

With a happy face you took photos and videos many times.
After exiting the dinosaur park I took you to the aquarium zone.
All the walls are made of glass showing many fish in the water.
Shark , manta , clown fish , turtle , octopus and others.
It looks beautiful with coral reefs and underwater lighting.

You asked me to take pictures many times.
You posed while smiling at each wall of the aquarium.
We also took pictures together while laughing.
Then we recorded videos many times while walking.

After leaving the aquarium zone you felt hungry.
I invited you to eat cheese burger and drink boba at the food court.
While chewing the burger you uploaded all the photos and videos.
So that Aya , Asmaa and Malak would see them immediately.

When it was noon we left Jatim Park 3.
You asked me to take you to a beauty salon.
You wanted to do hair and ****** treatments.
So I drove my car to the nearest beauty salon.

When we arrived at the beauty salon I took you in.
Then you were immediately served by the salon employees.
I waited quite a long time in the parking lot.
While smoking and listening to music.

When you came out of the salon your face looked so fresh and beautiful.
You also dyed your hair a bit maroon.
Then I took your picture several times. You posed while smiling in front of my car.

We went around Batu City again.
Then I drove my car to the mountainside.
After that crossing the vast rice fields Along the road of Pujon village.
Until we arrived at Selorejo Lake.

A calm and beautiful lake on the edge of the mountain.
The air was cold and looked a bit foggy.
We ordered grilled fish rice for our lunch on the lakeside.
Then we drank hot chocolate while talking about each other's lives.

Then we walked along the lakeside while taking pictures together.
After that we rented a boat to go around the lake.
You looked excited going around the lake while recording video.
While I smiled seeing you happy.

Towards the evening we left Selorejo Lake.
We returned to Batu City through the same rice fields as before.
Then you wanted to shop for cosmetic and fashion products.
So I took you to Batos Mall.

When in the mall you were busy choosing various clothes , t-shirts and pants that you liked.
Then you chose various cosmetics such as lipstick , powder , eye shadow , blush on , perfume and others.
After that we bought a lot of snacks to eat at home.
Chitato , Twistko , Taro , Beng Beng and others.

It was getting dark when we came out of Batos Mall.
Then I invited you to hang out at the Fifteen Celcius Cafe on the mountainside.
The weather was getting colder but we sat outside.
So that we could see the sparkling city lights from above.

We ordered a pepperoni pizza for our dinner.
Then we sipped warm macchiato slowly.
While jazz music sounded softly in the calm atmosphere.
We sipped macchiato while seeing the beautiful sparkling city lights from above.

After that you made a video call with Aya.
With great enthusiasm you showed Aya the sparkling city lights.
Asmaa and Malak also saw it.
They all seemed excited to talk to you.

The night was getting colder we went home soon.
After arriving home I smoked on the terrace while you immediately took a shower.
You took too long in the shower until I felt sleepy.
Slowly I fell asleep on the terrace.

When morning came I woke up in my room.
I felt strange and confused.
When I came out of the room I looked for where you were.
But you were not in my house.

It turned out I was just dreaming.
It was a really strange dream.
Maybe because I thought too much about you.
You who are still trapped in Gaza.

Dear Amal , this world is so unfair.
We live on the same planet under the same sky but my reality and your reality are so different.
How can I live my normal reality while your reality is so far below normal ?!...
if only I could bring you to my reality I would always see you smile just like in my dream.

You can see corpses covered in blood.
But you can't smell it.
You can see the explosion of a jet plane bombardment.
But you can't feel the danger.
You can see children seriously injured.
But you can't feel their pain.
You can see hungry children queuing for food.
But you can't feel their hunger.
You can see people displaced on the streets.
But you can't feel their fear , despair and exhaustion.

On your smartphone screen.
You've still been watching for over a year.
Endless daily horror show from Gaza.
Like a Hollywood apocalyptic film but not fiction.
Real blood , real corpses , real bullets, real explosions , real scenes.
Everything you see really happened and makes you confused.
Because you can only watch for over a year.
And it still continues while you can't do anything.
You pray , pray and pray for a good ending.
But you don't know when and how it will end.
So you still continue watching every day.
Until you lose your sanity.

A Gazan man named Hassan told me.
In the past his grandfather used to live in the city of Jaffa.
His grandfather was a farmer who had a large orange orchard.
The harvest every year was very plentiful to be exported.

Hassan said Jaffa oranges taste sweet and juicy.
The size is large , the skin is thick and only have a few seeds.
In the past so many merchant ships carried crates of Jaffa oranges at the port.
Transported across the Mediterranean Sea for export to many countries.
Palestinians used to feel proud that Jaffa oranges became Palestine's mainstay trade commodity.

But that was only the glory of the past.
After the Nakba 1948 the city of Jaffa was conquered by the Zionists.
Hassan's grandfather and all the residents of Jaffa were expelled.
Leaving behind their homes , orange orchards , whatever buildings they owned.

After decades have passed oranges from Jaffa are still an export commodity.
But Jaffa oranges have become an Israeli trade commodity and no longer belong to Palestine.
Palestine has lost oranges from Jaffa that were once proud of in the past.

Hassan often imagines about Jaffa oranges.
If one day Palestine is truly liberated Hassan has the right to return.
He will return to the house and orange orchard that belonged to his deceased grandfather.
Hassan will continue his grandfather's work of planting and managing orange gardens.
Becoming an orange farmer like his grandfather is his biggest dream.

Hassan also promised me that every harvest season I would be sent a box of Jaffa oranges.
Of course I would be happy if one day I received a shipment of oranges from Jaffa.
I think I'll be addicted once I taste what Jaffa oranges taste like.

In Gaza there are many painful ways to die.
For more than a year death after death continues to occur which seems tragic and sadistic.
You can see on TikTok like an endless daily horror show.
And if you are curious about what it feels like every day to escape death.
Try to imagine yourself in Gaza.

If you hide in your house jet planes will bombard until it's destroyed.
Then you will die under the rubble of your house.

If you are not alert when you are on the street snipers, drones, quadcopters will target you.
Then you will die from being shot or hit by an explosion.

If you are injured but there is no ambulance or civilian rescue to pick you up you will slowly bleed out.
Then you will bleed to death.

If you are injured but there is no medicine or adequate equipment in the hospital you will be in prolonged pain.
Then you will just die.

If no food aid enters Gaza you will starve until your body become weak.
Then you will starve to death.

If you are caught by the soldiers you will be tortured while being interrogated.
Then you will die in a mass execution.

If you are caught by the soldiers carrying tanks you will be forced to lie down on the ground.
Then you will be crushed to death by a tank until your body is scattered on the ground.

If you live in a tent various unexpected dangers will threaten you.
Then you will be killed by a jet , helicopter , drone or quadcopter.

So now you must be horrified to imagine yourself in Gaza.
You're lucky , you only see death after death on Tik Tok.
Without ever truly feeling that your life is threatened by death everyday.
If your life is as chaotic as people in Gaza.
You will not survive even just a day.

Setahun lebih aku masih tak percaya.
Jaman modern terjadi pembantaian besar besaran.
Terus dipotret dan direkam oleh orang orang Gaza.
Mengguncangkan normalitas seluruh dunia.

Setahun lebih aku lupa rasanya hidup normal.
Yang kulakukan tiap hari hanya membuka sosial media.
Terus melihat pertunjukan horor harian di Gaza.
Pembantaian demi pembantaian yang tak ada habisnya.

Setahun lebih aku terus berpura pura normal.
Dari luar terlihat baik baik saja tapi dari dalam terus menderita.
Penderitaan orang orang Gaza yang berkepanjangan.
Juga menjadi penderitaanku.

Setahun lebih....

Setahun lebih aku kehilangan kenikmatan.
Soto , rawon , bakso dan makanan apapun tak lagi terasa nikmat.
Aku teringat terus dengan orang orang dan anak anak Gaza.
Mereka sering kelaparan hingga kurus kering kekurangan gizi.

Setahun lebih aku kehilangan kesenangan.
Film , musik , game dan hiburan apapun tak lagi menyenangkan.
Aku teringat terus dengan orang orang dan anak anak Gaza.
Mereka selalu ketakutan terancam kematian yang menyakitkan.

Setahun lebih aku kehilangan ketenangan.
Tidurku tidak pernah terasa nyenyak.
Aku teringat terus dengan orang orang dan anak anak Gaza.
Mereka selalu kedinginan saat malam tanpa punya apapun untuk kehangatan.

Setahun lebih....

Setahun lebih aku tak lagi punya semangat.
Segala macam urusanku jadi berantakan.
Rasanya aku kesulitan berkonsentrasi penuh.
Setiap hari pikiran dan jiwaku terus tertuju pada Gaza.

Setahun lebih aku terus mengkhawatirkan mereka.
Orang orang Gaza yang telah kukenal hingga kuanggap saudara.
Jika mereka terlalu lama menghilang tanpa kabar.
Rasanya aku benar benar sangat khawatir.

Setahun lebih aku merasa seperti orang mati.
Terlalu sering melihat kematian demi kematian yang menyakitkan.
Darah terus bertumpahan , serpihan dan potongan tubuh terus berceceran.
Angka statistik para martir terus bertambah setiap hari.

Setahun lebih....

Setahun lebih aku masih merasa heran.
Melihat orang orang tetap menjalani kehidupan normal.
Bersenang senang atau sibuk urusan sendiri.
Tanpa peduli apapun tentang Palestina.

Setahun lebih aku masih tetap heran.
Melihat orang orang muslim yang tampak religius.
Hanya sibuk beribadah siang malam.
Tanpa peduli apapun tentang Palestina.

Setahun lebih aku masih tetap terheran heran.
Melihat gerai dan restoran Amerika masih tetap ramai.
Produk produk Barat masih tetap dibeli.
Tanpa peduli apapun tentang boikot.

Setahun lebih....

Setahun lebih rasanya benar benar memuakkan.
Melihat para pemimpin Barat terus beretorika.
Bicara perdamaian dan kemanusiaan.
Tapi terus mendukung pembantaian.

Setahun lebih rasanya semakin memuakkan.
Melihat para pemimpin Arab terus membual.
Pura pura peduli dengan Palestina.
Tapi diam diam mendukung Israel di belakang.

Setahun lebih rasa muakku semakin tak tertahankan.
Melihat media media Barat dan buzzer buzzer zionis.
Terus menerus menyangkal dan membenarkan pembantaian.
Tak peduli seluruh dunia sudah tahu kenyataan yang sebenarnya.

Setahun lebih....

Setahun lebih aku telah putus asa.
Kehilangan harapan yang tampak terlalu sulit diwujudkan.
Seluruh dunia terus melakukan aksi protes menentang Israel.
Tapi tak terjadi perubahan apa apa.

Setahun lebih aku telah kecewa.
Tak percaya lagi dengan tatanan dunia.
Yang tak lebih sekedar ilusi kemunafikan.
Bentukan Barat yang merasa berkuasa atas dunia.

Setahun lebih aku telah lelah.
Menunggu keajaiban yang tak kunjung terjadi.
Seluruh dunia terus bertanya tanya.
Kapan dan bagaimana semua ini akan berakhir ?!..

Too long people in Gaza often went hungry.
They were also fed up of only eating canned foods and flour mixed with maggots.
But after the cease fire they can get delicious foods and cakes every day.
Maqluba , shawarma , baklava , musakhan , qatayef , ouzi and others.
The volunteer team cooks it all every day.
Then they distribute it all to people in refugee camps and people who are on their way home.
Everyone has forgotten the taste of delicious foods and cakes which for more than a year has been considered a luxury.
They immediately chew it all with big smiles and laughter.
They eat not only to fill their stomachs but also to satisfy their appetites.
Delicious foods and cakes are the smallest piece of life that they could immediately enjoy.
It's about a little celebration of the life they've got back.

Then American mercenaries and Israeli soldiers shower them with gunfire , tank attack and also grenades.
Many of them are killed or injured.
While anyone who managed to get flour have to quickly return to avoid the gang of looters.
The winner of this ***** game is the person who can return carrying a sack of flour.
Of course , this ***** game that is dangerous and degrading is watched by the world.
But as usual the world just watches without doing anything.

People in heaven felt fully alive.
But then the horde of greedy and hypocritical demons came.
planning to stole , destroy and take over heaven.
With misleading tricks and ***** methods.

The people in heaven fought back.
But instead they were blamed.
They became victims and had no power to defend heaven.
Until finally they lost heaven.

What remains is hell.
A dark rotten hell filled with...

chaos , fear , destruction , danger , bitterness , painfullness , hassle , despair , difficulty , fatigue , tiredness , sadness , grief , fragility , shackles , limitation , poverty , wasteness , loss , anger , disappointment , misery , powerlessness , helplessness , hunger , thirst , anxiety , panic , ineligibility , humiliation , madness , sickness , agony , sorrow , oppression , and all the other bad things.

People in hell are still alive but don't feel alive.
They are dying slowly while waiting for a miracle that never comes.
But maybe there is still some strength left.
The last remaining strength for the decisive struggle.

Tapi di dalam ada banyak orang berbelanja.
Membeli produk produk P&G , Nestle , Mondelez dan Unilever.
Tanpa peduli dunia sedang memboikot.

Tak jauh dari minimarket ada taman bunga.
Kami nongkrong sebentar sambil merokok.
Ada banyak juga orang yang sedang nongkrong.
Sambil meminum Coca Cola atau Pepsi.
Tanpa peduli dunia sedang memboikot.

Kami merasa heran dengan semua orang.
Apakah mereka tidak tahu atau tidak mau tahu ?!..
Bahwa produk produk Barat yang mereka konsumsi.
Berlumuran darah dan bercampur serpihan tubuh.
Orang orang dan anak anak Gaza.

A week after the cease fire.
All the Gazans who were displaced in the south.
Finally able to return to the north.

Saturday morning October 7 2023.
Was the end of normal life for people in Gaza.
They thought the chaos at that time was just a small chaos as usual.
Without realizing that the big chaos had just begun.
Continuing for more than a year until city after city had been reduced to ruins.
And they can never return to their destroyed houses.
All they took with them were house keys.
Just like their grandparents who experienced the Nakba in 1948.

Now people in Gaza are forced to get used to the new normal.
Trying to survive day by day for more than a year.
Tiredness , sadness , poverty , hunger , fear , loss , they feel it all continuously.
Bombardment by jets , helicopters and artillery.
Terror by drones , quadcopters and snipers.
Attacks by troops , tanks dan gunboats.
All are dangerous threats they have to face every day.
The sense of imminent death continues to loom day by day.

The long chaos has made them forget the old normal.
They have lost everything they had.
Only the smelly ***** tent they live in.
Only stale bread they can eat.
Only shabby clothes they can wear.
The beautiful past has been lost.
While the present is full of suffering.
And the future is uncertain.

It's midnight the moon looks big and bright.
I look that moon on the edge of a quiet and dark rice field.
Near the train track on the outskirts of Surabaya.
Which goes towards Sidoarjo.

I'm taking a photo of that moon.

I see there are lots of photo posts from the people in Gaza.
It turns out they were also looking at the moon.

A few minutes ago Maha uploaded her photo.
She was sitting on the roof of the house with her cat.
She looked at the moon while drinking coffee.
Without caring that jet planes were bombarding the neighborhood in Deir El Balah.

Half an hour ago Omar uploaded his photo.
He was hanging out in front of the tent with his friends.
They were looking at the moon while smoking hookah.
Relaxing after helping volunteers in Khan Yunis.

Half an hour ago Mariam uploaded her photo.
She was sitting pensively in front of the tent.
She looked at the moon while remembering her family who had died.
Buried among the rubble of her house in Tel El Hawa.

An hour ago Dr Abraham uploaded his photo.
He was sitting on the balcony of Al Nasser Hospital.
He looked at the moon while complaining.
Tired of taking care of the injured people who were arriving.

An hour ago Saleh the journalist uploaded his photo.
He saw a group of young people dancing dabke and playing oud guitar.
They were standing together on the rubble of a building.
While the moon seemed to be shining brightly behind them.

This big and bright moon really looks beautiful.
Decorating the night of the people in Gaza.
Who are still trapped in the long chaos.
Without knowing when it will end.

They do what is called the Turmeric Trend.
A glass of water is placed on top of a smartphone flash light that is on.

When the powder dissolves it looks like a surreal show.
Accompanied by the tinkling of gloomy music.
That is the weird entertainment for the exhausted souls in Gaza.

The number of necessary goods is getting smaller.
While people continue to need various necessities every day.
As a result prices are increasing so high that it is difficult to buy.
While people no longer have any income.
They only depend on Paypal or Gofundme donations.
And the worst is the game of greedy importers.
They take advantage of the bad situation to make a lot of profit.
While aid trucks can't enter Gaza because they are blocked by Israeli army.
If there are trucks that can enter Gaza the bandits ordered by Israeli army will loot the cargo.

It's really a painful reality.
It's painful to see people and children starving.
It''s painful to see babies lacking milks and diapers.
It's painful to see women wearing scraps of tents for *******.
It's painful to see children wearing sandals made from pieces of bottles or cans.
It's painful to see prices rising so high and people can't buy anything.
