I wish when you spoke of poetry, it was about me. When your lips licked similes off the page, I wish it was me. Always will

he is his own homestead
his heart on a string
he leaves it at home when
he goes out wandering
so he can follow it back
at the end of the day
he says his heart belongs
to me, yet it leads him astray

so he leaves traces behind
and collects as he goes
all the while waiting
is me and he knows
i wont wait forever
at the theshold of his abode
right now hes with me
for how long? unknown
edit; i like this more now, feels more worthy of the attention it first got.

I’ve got to move on from the grave of grief I built you in my backyard. Today’s the first and last day I’ll sit beside your final resting place. When they asked me where I wanted you to be buried I said I didn’t care, because I knew in my heart you weren’t here. You were weaved and wrapped around my veins, all drains lead to the oceans at least that’s what they all say. When I leave your body here and my body there, I promise I won’t forget you dear. I’ll grow my roots to you, circle back and tuck you in. Wrap you in the sweetest linen, and finally let the love in. I’ve got to move on from the grave of grief I built you in my backyard.

Do I have to display my pain on stage for pay? Do you need to hear the crack in my voice to earn the coin? To know the sincerity in my lack of integrity is worth the paycheck.
I see demons
I see death,
I see destruction,
My own demise
My own release
This is why
I cannot see peace

Tortured from days of young
An incarceration
A burden to wear
Private words in private thoughts
And the reason for all the unforgiving ways

You have yours
And I certainly have mine
1000mph
The trajectory never a tangent
But multiple and critical
Fuelling the cynical
Shameful, sorrowful, despondent , diseased

Once or twice
I actually spoke
The response
The valued diagnosis
A joke
No words to inhale
Just sit listen and choke

So my rugged path
Wayward and distressed
Has brought it's own fortunes
And not always impressed
I ask for nothing but the same
To be accepted and shoulder no blame

You don’t need mine
Nor I yours
The messages we'd send
Of such labour and chores
Accept the difference
And take no sides
Home alone
Is where the fear hides
