Brilliant Black
By

Jude Kyrie

In a locked box
Inside a dark room
A lock of baby's hair
An old love letter
My darkest thoughts
No one can see them

Brilliant black

In a locked box
Inside a dark room
A love poem
written on a crumpled napkin.
An Empty perfume bottle
My sin
Hidden in total darkness

Brilliant black

In a locked box
Inside a dark room.
A house haunted and empty
Full of shadows
Full of pain
No one knows

Brilliant black

In a locked box
inside a dark room
My broken heart
shattered like crystal
Nobody knows
No one cares

Hello Poetry is a blue place this calendar year*
for we have seen many a good poet disappear
their inspiring words not around to delight in
of this expression the site is somewhat thin

Hello Poetry has experienced a considerable loss
gone all of that imagery so beautiful in gloss
the colors they deftly painted faded as they left
which makes the heart feel palpably bereft

Hello Poetry members those of excellent ink
missing from our writing fellowship's rink
we'll not forget the contribution they made
as each one of them showed the finest parade

Hello Poetry our brothers and sisters of the quill
departed us with yet more stanzas to spill
their individual styles we'll not sight again
*truly a thought which is so downcast of refrain
The corset of night loosens
exposing the flesh of light
Silver bells dangle from the sky
winter tidings
Dreams uplifting the soul

Dark skies
Lull the stars to bloom
A waterfall
Upon fallow ground
Like shimmering rain

One by one
I shoot them down
Gather them
Like seashells
Hear your voice echo

In every one
Clasp the sound
In my lungs
I breathe you
A rhapsody of life

Each breath reflecting
Each beat of my heart
I pull them closer
Like dreams in the mind
Internalize your soul

And burn with love
A yearn to be the only sky
That holds you
The only earth
To embrace your flame
Your Home

Where does my heart lie?
    In a church,
        On a stage?
    In a book,
        On a page?

How does my heart lie?
    On its side?
        On its face?
     In a pile,
        In some place?

Why does my heart lie?
    To my friends,
       Old and new?
    To my family,
        My own heart too?
Hearts are so well known, yet still a mystery.

What Women Want
The riddle finally solved
By
Jude Kyrie
She stole my turtle
Pulled my hair in class.
Tripped me in the schoolyard
grazing both my knees.

Ate my stash of Halloween candy
hidden in my locker.
She let the air out of the tires
on my bike so I was late for class.

Copied my math test
and got me an F.

She told my first girlfriend
That I was totally gay
so she would not
go out with me.

I married her last year
For God"s sake.
If that was all she wanted
Why did she not just say so.*

Inspired by the lovely Miss Natalie Wood
Wish me a rainbow
She was always beautiful

Pretty little tune
Wish me a rainbow
Lyrics
Wish me a rainbow and wish me the star
All this you can give me wherever you are
And dreams for my pillow and stars for my eyes
And the masquerade ball where our love wins first prize

Wish me red roses and yellow balloons
And caress us whirling to gay dancing tunes
I want all these treasures the most you can give
So wish me a rainbow as long as I live.

All my tomorrows depend on your love
So wish me a rainbow above
All my tomorrows depend on your love
So wish me a rainbow above

We like to say that stillness comes with night
That on hot summer evenings we can hear God breathe
But I disagree.

Summer nights, beautiful as they come,
Are filled with crickets, cicadas, birds of prey, and the sound of growing
They smell of burnt marshmallows and laughter
Bursting with life,
Loud and exuberant.
No, summer nights are not still.

It is in winter,
When death and slumber rule the woods,
Where even our breath is muffled by the cold,
Frozen into puffs of clouds.
The night does not sing as summer,
Cicadas and crickets and owls and coyotes
Calling out in the heat.
No.
Silence basks in moonlight on a bed of leaves
That tucked the summer away in their fall.

It is here that we find the still in the night
The quiet so deep we must look inward for sound
Heartbeats and whispers of breath,
Memories filling our inner ear,
Unable to keep the quiet.
But when calmed,
When frozen still by the cold,
You can hear it,
The throbbing in the dirt,
The heartbeat of the earth,
The subtle zephyrs through naked trees
The breath of gods.

Here,
We find the still in the night.
Why do I always feel overwhelm, and struggling.
Yes Christ is in control of every single situation.
Yes when we look back on each situation here.
We see so much that with his aid, we have succeeded.
In overcoming so much hardship in this here life.
But while it was happening, it felt very painful.
But after the fact, we realize with renewal strength.
That through Christ , we have become much stronger.
We have become through Christ great over comers.
Thus people praying does the same thing right here.
He uses other prayers to build us up through protection.
