At least being sad
Is easier
When you know why
You cry

Instead of
Indifferent tears
Overwhelmed
By being alive

The desert sky is vast
A heavy blue spanning far
Rippling with the sun’s heat

Cacti line the horizon
Like an uneven barbwire fence
As the sky turns to orange

Like a flame licking the world
Dry and thirsty for a drop of water
The sun sinks into the Earth

Whenever I remember
I look up at the sky
And remind myself that the stars are there
Even in daylight
So there's no need to cry
Inspired by something said in the book "Wild Bird"

Fearless
rain drops fall upon her head
try push her to the ground
but she stands tall against it all
and strength and love are found

the torment and the cold
of the never ending drops
feed her very core with life
and eventually it stops

the hardships that we face
are not always as we see
sometimes they just happen
to be exactly what we need

the petals soaking wet
stem dripping down with tears
but still the flower stood
in lieu of all her fears

then the sun came out
as the rain began to cease
and her purpose came to light
and she enjoyed a life of peace

I
know
the distance between us
are
ivory
tip
into an ebony bone
still
my blood boils over
red as my heart,
tunnelling through
the
night
seeking the soul
who
ignited the light.

one of you
her skin was like mahogany silk
and hers was light as milk
his hair was straight
his was not
her skin was plain
and hers covered with dots
all of them different
no two the same
all of them lovely, each crafted with care
so i want you to know that your beautiful
from each hair on your head
to the tips of your toes

my biggest fear is you seeing me
the way i see myself—
the cracks beneath the surface,
the doubts i file away

i hide my flaws in shadows deep,
but what if you should find
the fractured mirror that i see
when i look inside my mind?
i really need to stop writing depressing poems

Sin
Tie the rope let it bite
Into the softest skin tonight
Beneath the moon that weeps
And stars that hide in grief

Upon the muddy earth where rain
Has kissed the dirt
And insects scurry onward bound
Towards the bloated heart

Slice the darkness with no shame
As the life now drains
Each breath a distant dream from now
A prayer with no sound

The end has come the tree’s have seen
But secrets stay that way
For they cannot bear to look no more
Instead just bend and sway

As flesh doth rot and blood now dries
A life has been returned
To the mother and her womb
So feed again another time
This earth that now entombs

Sin
He walked a path that darkness forged
Weighed down with forbidden dreams
Each painful step reminded him
Of the sins that lay within

Darkest heart and eyes so dull
No feelings can ever bloom
For once was a man so pure and true
Now plagued with evil ado

Voices seem to mock him now
As they call deep within the wind
Sold the soul that was not loved
For a promise never knew

Broken by the fate of hell
Destined to walk alone
Gave everything in good faith
Now pay the price of foolishness
And walk forevermore
