he put stars in my heart
and it lit up the dark
It's so hard to stand,
firmly on your own two feet.
When you're pushed and shoved,
knocked completely off balance,
by every person you meet.
You sit there still and pick apart
the stitches from a fallen heart,
and thinking of times long passed,
wondering why they went so fast.

Its a long long road to travel,
Oh, Its a long long road to travel,
Its one big ride and then you die,
Now its a long long road you travel.

The pieces fall, get blown away,
you see your hair is turning grey,
and musing on times long gone,
memories caught within a song.

Its a long long road to travel,
Oh, Its a long long road to travel,
Its one big ride and then you die,
Now its a long long road you travel.

You lay there still and sleep so well,
your final note clear as a bell,
and bobo silent at the last
is grieving for the times long passed.

Its a long long road to travel,
Oh, Its a long long road to travel,
Its one big ride and then you die,
Now its a long long road you travel.
Thought I'd have a bash at writing a blues song.
I found her in the vapor of a summer dream
She was standing in the door to Paradise
When I asked if I could see her in the sunlight
Her laughter matched the sparkle in her eyes.

Her smile was like a sunlit pond at twilight.
Her eyes resembled sapphires at high noon.
Her hair was like a swirling touch of midnight.
Her voice as sweet as birdsong heard in June.

Her appearance gave me cause to stop and wonder
If who I saw was really standing there
Or was it just my wild imagination
Creating loveliness from smokey Summer air.

I crept a careful step or two towards her
My pulse was pounding madly in my throat
She frowned at me then edged a little backwards-
And suddenly between us was a moat.

There was no bridge or any walkway over.
She was securely on the other side.
It seemed as though she couldn't let me join her
She made that clear no matter what I tried.

I wrote a note of love on parchment paper
And sailed it to her in a little boat
She reached down to fetch it from the water
And read while lumps were forming in my throat

She tucked the folded note into her *****
And wiped a forming teardrop from her eye
She smiled and then she sadly whispered to me
The only word I feared - it was Goodbye.

The moat became a little stream of water
The doorway, two tall Jacaranda trees
The paradise that somehow she had come from
Transformed to smoke, soon taken by the breeze.

And I was left alone to stand and wonder
If everything I’d seen was truly there
Or was this just a middle-aged delusion
Providing me a thrilling tale to share.

Half finished for several months, it's not the story I started to write but I guess it is the one my pen wanted to tell. I was a big fight and I lost badly. sniff.

A PetSmart Experience

It was just a typical Monday
My wife was off to work for the day
I’m off today but don’t forget to take
Buckeye to the vet I heard her say

His appointment is at eleven and
You might need a stool sample too
Now I’m barely awake and I realize
I actually have something to do

So I get up and get ready to go
I take Buckeye for a walk
I’m pretty sure he’s hip to what’s
Going down but I’m not gonna talk

He tucked his tail and resist idly
Hopped into the car to go
It’s funny, you can’t keep it from
Them they can sense it and they know

So we get there and there’s a big
Black dog making his voice heard
For a moment I felt I understood him
He was upset and it was so absurd

It was if he was saying, I hate you
For this and I’m tired of the lies
It’s gonna take more than a pup
Cup for you to apologize

You said we’re going bye bye
Just going for a ride, right
Now I’m pretty angry and I’m
Gonna be like this the rest of the night

This dog was going off and Buckeye
Looked at him like he was delirious
As if to say I’m not happy either but
We all have to have A PetSmart Experience

Sad
So many
heartaches
In the world
Are we compatible
Boys and girls.
Love is like
A ring of fire
Rights and wrongs
Attached to desire.
I really don’t get it
That’s why I’m alone,
I definitely ain’t
A rolling stone.
On my grave stone
My epitaph will say
An unopened heart
Didn’t come out to play.
