Sometimes the Moon is just
the Moon
Stars simply stars
They're just reliable objects
They just are
And birds are just birds
They're pretty
They fly
Often words are just words
They're witty
They lie
And colors are just granted
Sort of like you and I
Until each pretty petal
just withers and dies

Around this time
You realise that you aren’t okay

That everyone around you
Is safe in their dreams
While you’re kept awake
By all the demons that don’t let you sleep

Your thoughts begin to spiral
And downward you go,
As soon as your first tear falls,
It’s like you’ve called in a storm.

Your heart is in tangles
And your mind is a mess,
You find yourself scattered,
Drowning in a sea of your own sadness.

And now you lay awake
Wishing you spent the night
Counting stars,
Instead of all the problems in your life…!

I hoped that you’d protect me from myself

I never thought I’d have to protect myself from you
Just woke up from another nightmare and it still breaks my heart thinking of you

I mingle sometimes
and sometimes subside also
lost too, and wave too
sometimes; but here and there
there and then
washed up on shore, I am
glancing confusedly around, and I am
pecked and poked and
picked and tossed and turned roundround

and then, then
blue comes
and within it, glittery dust
and as I am slowly buried alright
and as I am alright almost
a tiding comes
from winds’ thick gossips
of a tiding bog
that will claim me again
and then falls, and pulls and it claims me, yes

and so the nights drip down on dawn
and I mingle, mingle almost, sometimes
