Life is the riddle that you will never solve
A multitude of complexities weaved together
By the black widow of good hope
With a dash of unmoderated uncertainty
As you find yourself toeing the line
Between sadness and happiness
Life is that simple riddle without an answer

Life is the nights you remember best
Being up at 4am
Making a home within your cozy corners
Eager to escape
Eager to belong
But too afraid to try

The rules of life govern it as such
And sometimes we are privy to its restrictiveness
And we are not as free as we think we are
But time bends
The laws of life
And patience
Is the greatest reward of all

Extensive ruminations on life are futile
Life is as volatile as it is big
And we are best left guessing
Our magician's next trick
Some things are hidden just to be found
Some things you see it
And then you

AM
I am the thinnest slice of pizza
A warm beer
A scratched DVD
A lukewarm shower

A last resort

I'm what one settles for when all other options have been exhausted
And what is disposed of the moment something better presents itself
i still smoke out of your bowl
i like to pretend i can taste you on it
even though i've cleaned it twice
all the time i get lit
to make my mind feel nice
cuz thoughts of you echo
throughout my whole body
i feel you in my blood stream
it makes me wanna scream
but your magic bowl fixes all

wow
guess i'm relying on you still
gotta get my fill
you've made me so ill
brain cells killed
i don't want to feel.
Men speak to them in the language of sweets
even their names,
sound like french delicacy
They drink from a flute of love-notes and make-believe
with a dash of sugar
and melancholy
An effervescent taste
is all it takes
for them to lose themselves
and lose track of time and space

They are the masters of treachery
ensnaring hearts of strangers
beguiling innocent minds
But mostly of all
deceiving themselves

They get drunk on the possibility
of escaping reality
perpetually

Alas,
it is inevitable
that the time will come
When reality will welcome them
with less than warm and welcoming arms

Nicotine filled lungs
Cherry stained lips
An ephemeral flame
if only they didn’t exist

Behind their dulcet tones
of eloquence and sweet-nothings
lies a heavier dread
that their saccharine smiles,
a dalliance of lies
attempt to dismiss

For it is only
behind this facade of
vacancy, vanity, and vacuous deception
That they can unwind and forget
even if its only
momentarily

For it is only then
when they
let slip their bitter past
forget about their pungent present
and masquerade for their tasteless future

I threw bread on the ground
watching, as the rivalry begins
black birds swooping down
chasing away their fair-weather friends

the birds, every one, trying their best
back and forth, the fight, the hurt
each piece a new conquest
while only a few feet away, more bread lay in the dirt
at our core, aren't we all just scavengers?
we are so short sighted that we no longer pay attention to our surroundings and lose sight of the bigger picture in our daily struggles.
She slept in the middle of the bed for the first time in a long time last night.
My breath fogged the window,
as I watched the snow fall
softly.
I
heard your feet drag
as you walked over the cow-skin rug;
feeling your eyes burning through my back
I kept my own glued to the somnolent scene outside
whilst I felt your resentment grow stronger and more absolute,
like a baby crocodile as it finally concludes that its purpose is to ****.
You walked into the kitchen, your anger tasting of cayenne and lemon
My deep exhale fogged up the window once again,
and my pupils dilated as I remembered
that we are one entity.
You are mine.
I am yours.
Yours.
Mine.
We.
I.
