Southern Wind In the Pines
Southern winds soothe the pines
Pitch sap oozes from the trees
There's the lap of tanic water
on the shores of lake
kissimmee
.
Takes more than gentle waves
to endow a restless sea
More than all the stars to make up eternity
.
A journey starts with a  first step
Then it takes many more to come
And when you've finally arrived at your destination
you feel empty , defeated
dumb
.
You were never promised a tomorrow
Today will always be your last
You will be who you are in the future
depending upon your past

The darkest dawn
The
darkest
dawn
always
comes
after
the
darkest
hour
of
the
night

She was a creature
a consumer of stars
Like a rabbit
hopping from bar to bar

The nighthawks few in precision
Feathers flagging
like fodder in the wars

Second guessing wasting hours
All the questions
fill the buckets with years
so dire

Rolling
stones
crush
bones

"War , children , it's just
a shot away" (Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones)

"Send me dead flowers every morning and I won't forget
to put roses on your grave."
(Dead Flowers by Townes Van Zandt)

I loved the night
My , how I loved the night
Oh , the sweet breeze of mystery
The warm breath of summer on my neck
Oh , how I loved it so
Oh , that could I go
but not a possbility anymore
The excitement in a strangers face
The closeness of companionship
The embrace and kisses
of give and take
where has my desire gone

Oh how I loved the night

Over that Rainbow
Dorthy sat on her swing
clutching Toto in her arms
She was in a trance staring
at imaginary mountains and seas that she dreamed someday she would conquer

The sun set sending a shiver through reality
Then she put her dreams back into her mental pocket and put Toto down and skipped back into the house

That night it rained and in the morning there were rainbow dreams for a sunrise

You've heard before ,

"You are what you eat."

That goes for the body

For your health

and for your soul

Adam and Eve

made the choice

who twisted in
ecstacy to the
shuffling feet
of joy . . .

The simple
The simple believes (his) every word , but the prudent considers well his steps .
(Proverbs 14:15)

He will send send your sons and daughters off to war and they will never return .
Then he will take your money , land , and then your life .
Don't you fools understand .
They are blinded by the lies . While they see nothing but the night . Even when the Son arise they remain a blight .

Wisdom or folly
Good or evil
Life or death

There are no third options for you to choose . The first will bring you life the other you will lose .

Yes she was a ghost
a vision in my sight
A delicacy to touch and taste
She appeared then  would vanish in the night

Just like a real ghost

What about midnight ?
One , two , three . . .
     One , two , three . . .
One , two , three . . .

     (Waltzing away)

I'm holding on ,

     tonic and gin ,

my silly grin .

I hear the strings

      of the violin ,

in the echoes

of my sin , in the din ,

the glory of my screams .

I long to fly ,

       nighthawks ,

diving ,

       in the midnight's

sky of lights .

The arcade of words ,

       pages shelved .

The parties made ,

       the glasses

emptied . . .

       in despair .

Clear as midnight ,

       short as a stroke ,

the ghosts

       of the faces ,

hiding within ,

        what about them ?

What about midnight ?

The Simple
The simple love their simplicity
They have a blank look upon their face
They wallow in their foolish ways
They hope it always stays
They scorn at any correction
for scorners often sneer
They will die lost in all their ignorance and all their
nonexistent fears

[For scorners delight in their scorning , and fools hate knowledge]
(Proverbs 1:23)

Poetry Should . . .
Poetry should flow
like a babbling brook
with soothing repetitions
easy on the look

Poetry should thunder
like Niagra falls
Be as serene
as the far off wolfen howls

Poetry should be pure
as a maiden's heart
Full of meade and mischief
from the very start

Poetry should come from the pitch heart of man
Anything less I just can't understand

Someday I hope to be the eclectic
While I sing the body electric

Restless
Those thoughts
. . . twisting . . .
Days . . .
listing away
where there is
no peace at heart

Sparks fly
. . . ignighting the flannel
of the past

The agony soaked in kerosene leap upward
heavenly bound

You rip out your heart and offer a sin offering and burn the rest

The breath of hurricanes
scurries away the aroma

Hallelujah is written across your lips in invisible ink

It is as you lived it

Never alone
Out of the starry night ,
By the way the moon glows
the monuments are lined up in rows upon rows

They glisten eerily though through the birch bark and oak
they be the condemned lost souls
now as ghosts flow

On the beach at night
with the sands and bonfires
To the woe weary waves
telling the shore all that transpires

The whales sing first
to one then another
Then asking of me
are we not all one brother

Overnight hanging
on the shelf of a cliff
face to face with stars
and meteors so swiff

I hear the owls
in the forest below
telling to me , Yes
We know , we know

So no matter where it is
or when that I go
I am never alone
For everything everywhere does tell me so

I just want to lay out back

pretending I am dead

The memories . . .
I can't lock them out
The feelings twist and shout out ,"If onlys."

The chill brings the dew
I'm just conscious of you
Some where I hope up there
If not then where

Just maybe one day

Hosea 4:2-3
"There is no truth or mercy in the land . By swearing and lying , stealing and killing and committing adultery , they break all restraint , with bloodshed upon bloodshed . Therefore the land will mourn ; and everyone who dwells there will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air ; even the fish of the sea will be taken away ."

The day
by daze
the days are due

Watching

come unglued

I twist
and turn
within my skin

There's no relief

I clasp

with shaky hands

Woolen lapels
compels
to truth to stand

The paige
is paid
in skin and bone

The cannibal
enthrawled
"Welcome home !"

See What's Become of Me
Carrying a glass at my remand
My liquid comfort close at hand

The leaves fall down upon the ground
Without making nary a sound

I don't need a mirror to look at me
It's so plain for all to see

Just look around and
let them be
They have no need or use for me

Just leave them all looking down
There's no use for standing ground

It's just useless you can
see
So it goes down harsh on me

Swinging Door
Your heart was always so fickle . It would open on one side then swing back only to open up to another .

I learned there was no such thing as ,"Wait on me !" You held every second down to a tee . And when you yelled 'Fore' you came crashing down driving me to the other side of the green .

I sing hymns in the Church of Holy Dreams . A cathedral dedicated to Sergeant Pepper whose perseverance lingers in the rafters along with the pleas of the discarded .

Someone whispered in my ear,'We're not obligated to leave."

Used to love poetry
Used to be more precious than gold

Used to be something to have and hold

To cherish and preserve
The honor they deserved

But no longer do they accompany me in the night

Nor bring forth the truth
Nor in darkness the light

bound by the words

I'm in pain
crushed by my verbs

The sentences lash out
The nouns sting

All of it in vain
All of it . . . insane

To me the best time of day's all

I watch without anxiety
coffee coffee coffee
nothing to eat
throw in two weeks of no sleep

You keep knocking me down
Even though you're not around

All this time I wasted
after my world
came to an end

All the wasted I was in time
Stumbling over amens

I can hear you
I can hear you

Gotta feeling you knew
All my hopes turning blue

Gotta believe that there was nothing
All the time I thought you were bluffing

Veering off the blinders
I was lost to
my emotional grinders

I can hear you

Can you measure
Can you measure
the love hidden
in the sacred hallows
of our hearts ?

Did you consider the
strength
it would consume
to take it down
and tear it all apart ?

Was it worth
the time it took
gathering the fruit
from the seeds
of shame
you've planted ?

And the harvest of dust
amidst the chaff
was it all for nothing
that you took
for granted ?

Who can measure the
spirit of love
Or direct the purpose
of its cause ?

Or likewise
cast it to the dogs
like the pearls
before the swine
or so they say it was

Who can counsel
the wisdom
found stamped
on the face of all our hearts ?

Who then can destroy
or resurrect
the images
and all of its parts ?

all your questions why

There is nothing in my defense that I can say
All I can hope to do is
live to walk away

First instincts is to run
But where would I go
I can no longer lie
After all you know

Everything is falling apart
Dictated by your icy stare
The reality of it all is that
you no longer care

I've been here before
I'll never learn it seems
If you turn over paradise
You cash out your dreams

Hopeless home in the dark
You and I know this all too well
There will be this one last time
One last final goodbye
And then we have to let go
and sigh

No love lasts forever
Both of us may deny
Both know all the reasons
and all the whys

A last kiss and all will be undone
Hands entwined slippng fingers past
One last glance , one sad smile
Goodbyes stuck on our lips fast

You and I know all to well
No love lasts forever
One who hides from the sun .
Rushes to the bullyrush where softly the wind weaves magic/reeds ìnto protesting spells of endeavor.
In the shadows of willoes
hang the serpents of time/chance waiting on deliverance .
Weathered/weavers form the ultimate slow living of a textiled existence .

Gulf Wind
I was raised
by a strong gulf wind
Muddy rivers and people
with perpetually brown skin

They say the sky's
the limit
Under a humid full moon
I've danced all night
hungover to the dawn's early gloom

Slide guitars sho' nuff boil my blood
Mudbugs and beer
make it easy to cheer

And I sleep
wherever I fall
Inside a shotgun house
made with cyprus walls

I drink cold dripped coffee
from small demitasse cups
sweet with the aftertaste
of fresh hazelnuts

C'est Chaud !

Crossed upon the Church
So now you claimed
your victory
In the name of
Our Father up above

Meanwhile you were removing the cross
from your shoulders
and raising it high wearing ****** gloves

You became an empire
demanding praise as if you were a God
All the while trampling down the insignificant and burying under sod

You pass a silver plate expecting food for your selfish thoughts
Without your permission Heaven can't be bought

You pray to lifeless idols made by mortal man
Meanwhile gathering flocks of gold and herds of mansions while flying your jets across the land .

Your fields of salvation
are stuble that fires of justice will race through

Not even releasing enough heat to warm your heart or bones
from the coming cold evening's dew

No One Anymore
The thing about her is
that I don't think about her anymore .

That doesn't mean the aches and pains weren't real . . . they were .

Sometimes in the darkest
endeavors of my loneliness
I drift off into the eternity of my doubts staring at my "what ifs".

Sometimes I become addicted to the silence , becoming numb to my existence .

But life is persistent , showers your darkness in strobic half truths and lies
. . . yes lies so blatant it stirs the hibernating thoughts against your will .

I look down on the scars of life and gently rub them with my fingers but the pain is gone now .

After all there's no one there anymore .

The potion was in the lotion

I heard the train's whistle
on down the side track
Harold flew in from Canada
with a Honda on his back
We called him Ole Weird Hendry
because he was way out of whack
Sharon was unsure that I finally figured out
Harold went on to become a doctor
Along the way I chose to dropout
Now the wheels have spun
and the future is past
My ways were never half empty or full
Cause I tipped over the glass
Now I'm dreaming of streaming memories
while I am looking past back
There's the rub in the lotion
the emotions on back
And I hear the train whistling
coming down track

I dedicated all my energies
to the wasting of my youth

Here's to love and family
and all my shady friends

That leave me cold and lonely
Was it worth it in the end

Bitter is as bitter does
The cup will measure up

Bitterness comes from a root
Buried deep inside the gut

Sure I have my memories made
They never let me sleep

I twist them into my dreams
the ones I never keep

The Indians left behind the old ones
who could not match their step

Perhaps it was kinder still
than prolonging the agony of their death

Whose bones I walk upon I will never know

Just know it's getting harder
to get off my *** and go

And pursues the east wind ;
He daily increases lies and desolation .
Also they (he) make a covenant with the Assyrians (Russians) , and oil is carried to Egypt .
Putin avoids the world sanctions on Russians oil by shipping oil to Egypt who then sell it for the Russians and distribute it world wide . Trump wants to end sanctions on all Russian goods and services .
