So amusing
So amusing
just abusive
Words are blessings
in disguise

Pierce right
through me
Words of violence
deceitfully

Vows are choking
Only to be broken
Leaving pleasures
to blame

Just like
the viloence
the silence comes
crashing down

So amusing
Just abusive
Words are blessings
in disguise

Beyond the Streets
Walking on the streets
I used to know
In the cold night's winter air

Stepping back in time
to see if I
could recapture those
moments I lost there

In that tall oak
of baren arms uplifted
Where once kisses were freely gifted

And the cracks
in the sidewalks
makes me wonder
did I break a back

Way back when
When I claimed
these lands as
mine

Now I am a ghost
of what I was before
Without merit
Disinherited

The cold my constant
companion
A bank of ever
widening cracks

The cold
is hungry for
my heart
It demands my soul
In the dark made agitation
The memories are bound
The hounds out of Hell
Come running you down
You say now your lucky
To even be alive
But deep down in your heart
You wished you had never survived

You count the wrinkles
One day at a time
All of your dreams and wishes
Are hung out on the line
Saying you've got nothing
To look forward to
While your looking . . . looking
Way far behind

Welcome to the burning
of the Hotel in California
Of the years and fears
To the lost yesteryears
Pack it up and get lost
Your leaving California
You can never go back
There's nothing there and that's a fact

You've been replaced
By fresh faces of today
They leave you behind
In their haste to make hay
No one remembers you
It was before they were born
What you once were
Now it's not the norm

So get ready to burn the
Hotel in California
It's outlived it's day
Don't stand in the way
Watching the flames roaring higher
Burning down the house
Such a lovely house
Such a lovely . . . home

The Everydays
Everyday
is built on lies
The kinds we
turn into truths
that we despise

We wake up
at uneven hours
Restless , bothered
with a stomach
that's soured

Everyday
turns out the same
so we make up
more lies to deal
with the pain

Such beautiful
sunsets spell out
our demise
So we crawl
into caves
just to let
loose the cries

You can't take away
from the already given
With empty hands
you stand and call
this living

My Moon Over River
I'm going down on river . .
going up in fever
I'll be sending you shivers
all night the long

See how I make quiver
When I tease her
Oh Mighty ! she say
how I please her

Ha Ha , how I kisser
my , my , my ,
um-um , how I
feeler

I my full moon fever
swimming on my river
Slowly pulling me under
as I drown in love

Disappear
sometimes
i want to be
nowhere
sometimes
i want to be
the shadow
instead of
the sun
to exist in the space
between wet
and raindrops
i long to be
the noise in the dark
you never see
the dark side of the moon
looking into eternity
the moan in the sea
mountaintop whispers
the wind blowing free
sometimes i just want to
. . . disappear . .

Seeking Inner Truth
You wouldn't know it if it was
clinging as your skin

You keep it buried under piles
of situational sin

Your tongue clamps down
refusing to let the words come free

Your dubious look somehow fits
that is all telling now to me

Listen to the words you let stumble
from the corners of your mouth

They codify your existence like the
hot dry winds coming from the south

You're afraid to give up what little
faith you hide away in fears

Then you are caught looking back
on the mystery of the years

Four Strings of Dissonance
....There were six
             then five
            then four

    Now in silence
       after the war
  that no one won

I listen to the symphony
    of failed angels
         of how they
were underscored

Trust in meaningless man
not a God thought
     of fearing man

Out of tune , out of key
             hums the
  cherished sound
       of disarryied
          dissonance

The caked dried blood
     flowing inside
            our viens
       powder puff
                breath

With all that was made
     fold and press
put up and away

It's just a paper cut
               but the
Drip , Drip , Drip
          becomes a
               Sunday
             sacrifice

Daylight
I can't write poetry
   in the sun . . .

Give me darkest nights
     and undercover I will run

Let no light penetrate my eye
lest it be by stars and comments going by

From hiding all my words
        come out

They hate the sun I know
       now without a doubt

They like to bask in glow
        of moon

Conversing amongst the
           punctuations . . .

is it now or when or way
             too soon

They start to shuffle before
           'say daylight

Anxious with intent ,
   hurried on now by their
        plight

First rays they soon all
        disappear
           . . . . . .

Well I will be waiting
          out the day
It's not like waiting
         for years and years

Soon the sun will be getting
                   tired

And deep inside I will be gettiing . . .

             so inspired

Don't want to be the only one at last call

You sling your arrows
I'll dodge the harrows
And then I'll record it in

That goes through many stages
In the end you may find it in

And I have recorded it in

You always wore
your face of frowns
Like a Queen possesses
all her crowns

The mornings found you
so depleted
All your will
had been defeated

You paid your dues
for cost analysis
They held the cup
for urinalysis

It's all there in
the black on white
Carved in skin
so pink and tight

You find
you're found
Roped , gagged
and bound

Estranged from
the freedom of life
Entangled
with all it's strife

And as , at last
the evening calls
Before the ghosts
stroll the halls

You prepare with such anticipation
For another night's
exhilaration

The Dance
Remember those moments of agony
Before the age of puberty
When you fumbled
confounded in surety

When you said those stupid things
that you never meant to say
And to this day it still stings

Remember the friends
you said goodbye to
before you could say  hello and how are you

My how the miles separate
The horizon just titillates
Never touching earth
while the sky scintillates

I picture the high school gym at the homecoming dance you see
Sitting on the pullout bleachers . . . no one danced with me

What it all comes down to
The beach , sea gulls and surf

The mountain , the hike and view

The wheatfields , waving seas of grain

The moonlight , on cold desert sand

The aligators , sunning on the river bank

The fireflies , amongst the evening shadows

The mustangs , running wild and free

The campfire , listening to the cry of the wolf

Golden fall leaves , and the silence of detachment and acceptance

Life , as it was , is and will be

If A Poem Was Less
If a poem was less
If it did not make you bleed
Then the love was untested
Left outside of one's need
If you could not squeeze a syllable
Make it scream in pain or delight
If the words were not nimble and
Danced not across a glazen heart
Shattering all in sight
If not a tear falls from joy
From the cheeks of rain
Then all words are useless
There is no loss to your gain

Soft Southern Nights
Warm and sweet as clover honey

Nighthawks in the sky

Cotton clouds silently fly

Moths do their Jubilee
under street lights

Blind Joe Death plays twelve string

Whip-poor-will calls
collect

But no one is home

Far off lightning clashes
without grumbles

As far off as Tennessee
I would say

Coyotes howl at the rising moon

No mosquitoes tonight . . .

Paradise . . .
Safe inside my cocoon and nest
Can't feel as secure anywhere else
When comes that rapping gentle tapping
Whose's that banging on my front door
It's the police yelling "Police !Open up the door !"
And then bang and the door falls to the floor
"Your under arrest !"
And I say , "What for ?"
So miffed they become and slam me to the floor
THEN one says it not here but the other one next door ! And they all scramble out leaving me cuffed on the floor .
Made up ! But happens everyday .

Withering Lows
Their love was never possibe
It could not be allowed to be
So deceptively decadent
The way the beach consumes the sea

Amidst the fields of flowers
Where no one would ever see
He stripped her heart bare
She begged him willingly

Exchanging dangerous glances
It made her heart to race
He consumed her every thought
They made it do in haste

But their days began to narrow
The path became unsure
Deceit flared out of it's nostrils
For their lust there was no cure

The parting was barely visible
She went about her way
He chose the other path
That led down to the cay

She sails on luxury ships
He sits in a crabber's shack
They both look over their shoulders
Always looking back

For their love was never possible

Black Midnight Blues
So black
So blue
You know that feeling
Don't know what to do

You sit at the desk
Looking out
Looking in
Asking , why can't I win

Black is the night
That my midnight blues
Haunt

Blue is the heart
Broken into a thousand
pieces

So are the memories
That lay black as death
While love ceases

Black are the days past
But the blues live on
they last and last

So be blessed my blues
Black be the rules

When I look out my window
It all seems so cruel

When stars rise
on occasions

When my heart
turns gentle in

When the cold

Embraces my
golden heart

of love's gone
despair

I turn to memories
of you

When I raise my hand
to touch

your face I paw
at the air

Then I sigh
and realize

It was just

Then my golden heart
shivers

More from the emptiness
than pain

Golden heart so cold

Golden heart so old

How I wish

Feathers of Care
The Eagle's wing gives us feathers supreme
Stroked against the face
Such a loving grace

The Owl's wing gives us knowledge best
Touching breast
Makes the ******* stand up to test

A Falcon's feather slim and fast
Teases the senses of all the lass
Stroked between the legs
And the young girl begs

And the sauge goes on

A Mockingbird's feathers
Between the toes
And soon soothing giggles
Just explode

Then twisting behind the knees
Oh mercy !
Only if you please

But the Dove's feather
upon the eyelids
Such pleasure !
Dreams are made of these

Now the pinpoint of any quill
Repetitiously pointed at will
Makes then shudder
before they squeal

And that is how you make
A Bird of Paradise
Shake , quiver , and utterly
Entices her will

Freedom of Love
The freedom of a sparrow
is the air under it's wings
The freedom of the wild horse
is the plains that recede
The freedom of a choice
is the choice not made
The freedom of love
is knowing you had no more to give

Winter is ending
and I am looking ahead
Even when winter has
one foot in the grave
It's not to be a stave

A sparrow without love
is a bird without feathers . . .
and cannot fly

A wild horse without love
is a horse without a plain . . .
and cannot run

A choice made without love is reckless
and bound to be wrong

Driving , slowly going
Nowhere back to all

The Race
Her hand lay upon his bare chest
His hand her back caressed
They just took their physical test
And both prayed they passed
He wanted feedback oh so bad
She wanted to tell but was afraid
But in silence was all both had
In the bedroom of his cave
He touched her face pure and soft
She kissed his lips and made a wish
Then his passion again took off
And dined on the gourmet dish
She moaned and wailed like a wraith
He extended out the pace
They ran together in a race and
Crossed the finish line together
Her eyes they pleased his face
In his smile she felt relief
Together they hugged
And said together , " I do."

Ooooooh , as the misery soothes my brain
and banishes my pain

Now the afternoon
warmth goes running after

My glorious moment chills in the black velvet
much like a Black Russian
drives me insane in jealousy

numbingly . . . cold .
He drove a statement through his heart .
He bled out numerically
before he had the chance to bark . They closed the lids to his accounts figuring there was nothing left there that he could bounce . Once he was wheeled to the lawns that closed , he was stripped of all equity even the diamond ring in his nose . There was no interest that accrued . He had no pension that gathered dust in the murmings due . They closed his file  , his coffin's lid , and all of his memories  too .

My labor of words
My words of labor
Far into the night
looking for the common denominator

Like a sculptor
and his chips of marble
Words fall from my thoughts
Off my tongue they
will tumble

Envious of those whose words can progress
Eloquent in manner
their efforts so blessed

I only dream of a maybe ,

But it seems all of my efforts only change
straw into hay

Perhaps no such work
will ever exist
Still I move on
I endure , I persist
