We are little boats
in the harbor
yearning to set sail
for the sea
Tied to the docks
the fear in us mocks
our God-given right to be free
Drunk as hummingbirds
We flirt around flowers
When a black sheet has been
thrown over the moon
and a million lazy stars
have fallen from view
I hear the wind has
grown tired of traveling
I hear the sound of mandolins
crying in the mountains
I hear the rattle of
gypsy wheels
I hear the heavy hearts
of horses upon the
restless roads of
broken poetry ...

Winds of change
always blowing
breathing strange
never knowing
what tomorrow
will finally bring
joy or sorrow
songbirds sing!
I've run out of sheep to count
Leaving me wide awake through this living nightmare
Sowing a seed of doubt
Is life's refusal to even consider fighting fare
Each step taken while walkin' about
Feeds on the back of my mind, whispering, "do it if you dare"
Fueling despair
Instigating internal warfare
Causing excessive ware and tare
Resulting in a head of hair gone bare
And I'm forced to bite my tongue completely off
To keep from admitting I no longer care

You have to fall in love with living first,
with moon and sun and stars.
With all kinds of human beings,
to make this world
overcome all kinds of fears.
To be able to dance.
Dance with you,
dance with you all night long.
All night long under the light of moonshine.
Until the twelfth hour.
