Two sides
One Dark
One Light
Where there is one
Another resides
Perhaps not seen
But there
You know it
Because one cannot be without the other
Like you and me

Firey flowers
Burst in the sky
Celebrating independence
On the 4th of July

Booms echo off buildings
Rockets launch sky high
Exploding into colors
Quickly floating by

Awestruck by the beauty
Infatuated with the sound
I love watching fireworks bloom
And its petals fall to the ground
Happy 4th of July!

It’s hard to keep myself together
When the world keeps pulling me apart
sheltered myself from pain
Hid behind a guarded heart

I just want someone brave enough
To scale these walls
Someone to catch me
When I inevitably fall

I need someone
To look me in the eye
And knows when I say
“I’m fine” its a lie

Please care enough
To save me from myself
Care about my physical
And my mental health

The world is cruel
But I am still here
I just need someone
Before I disappear

You’re not a poet because you know those ‘fancy’ words
You’re a poet because every word you write comes straight from your heart

You’re not a poet because people admire your work
You’re a poet because you write for your own contentment and not for people's consent

You’re not a poet because you feel alone
You’re a poet because pen and paper are your biggest companions

You’re not a poet because you understand emotions better
You’re a poet because you let them flow freely

You are not a poet because you’ve failed in love
You’re a poet because you’ve been in love deeper than anyone else

You’re not a poet because you are strong
You’re a poet because you don’t hide your weaknesses

You’re not a poet because you can heal hearts
You’re a poet because you know what it means to be broken
Dedicated to all the poets here. I feel happy to be a part of the community.

Silence isn’t always silent
Sometimes silence itself
Is the answer we seek
Confessions, dreams, fears
Our greatest truths
Are hidden in our silence

Losing friends is inevitable
I’ve lost many before
Death, distance, and lifestyle
Has already taken its toll

You were the friend
I couldn’t bear to lose
Although you are gone
My hope is not spent

I will keep you in my heart
Holding on to the sentiment
Even the lost can find their way home
If you leave the porch light on
She Writes Jun 2018
It amazes me
How quickly change occurs
You can be a part of my life
But I’m no longer part of yours

You found happiness
I am delighted for you
Does that mean I must be replaced
By the one shiny and new?

I thought you were my rock
A constant I could lean on
I thought we were un-breakable
I couldn’t have been more wrong

As our friendship dwindles
And we walk our separate ways
I know it’s time
To prepare for darker days
