*In the masquerade of a poet
he acquires secret wings,
becomes equal parts real and unreal,
treading the twilight zone.
He still is an apprentice
with the conjurer,
incomparable wizard
who never stops amazing
being the anarch of slight of hand,
the illusionist grand,
we in the flow who swim or drown
in the river, known  as life
that none ever defined the way it really is.

Inside his cubicle
transformed to a scribe by a curse
when he coveted it, was a boon
he is real, all  his magical powers robbed
by the day light, realities of life
he is grappling with news
that make  his heart grow weak.
He is now a sobbing poet within,
firmly  handcuffed to a pact strict,
only to write reports, that's his might
anything of beauty he couldn't  escape,
its all pain in forms unimaginable
most of it man made, even famine.

A life swinging between a hope
to come in terms with
the uncertainties of the ebb and flow
that breaks his heart bit by bit,
and facing realities stark that drives a knife
has become the rut, he wouldn't escape.

Dawn peeps through the window blind
he has lost meaning for day and night  long time back
when this double life, has trapped him in this pen
A poem beyond words
tenderly tugs my heart;
how to partake, she wonders,
"**** its nectar from my lips, lover"
Red rose
reflecting the color of love
in our cursed world,
since the day
you lost your gloss,
and looking so pale,
lost and forlorn
the moon has lost her sheen,
that held us close,
Waves of the sea lost their tune
and had fallen mute,
the sea breeze
completely evades
my path, as if I had
unfairly jilted her friend.
The beams of sun lost
their warmth,
the mingled fragrance
I inhale from my garden
where  variety of flowers bloom,
is now absent,
My pale, maudlin rose
disconcerted I am
beyond words,
what has the world done
to you for you to loose your hue,
shall I fall in love with you
all over again,
make your heart dance with love,
at the move of my wand?
Set the wrong of the world
right once again, with my tears
shall we be whole,once again
like before?

I was once four times in love.
The levels varied yet it was love.
These loves were destroyed by
Greener grass, addictions and lust.
I was once in love for the fifth time.
which I destroyed, because of fear.
I became hardened, mean and callous.
and pushed the love away.
Now I am alone, afraid and lonely.
I was once in love five times,
Dare I go on.

On a busy downtown corner
As the traffic passes by
Stands a man with a cardboard sign
Can't seem to look me in the eye

But he's going to live, forever, somewhere
So help me God
I've got to show him
How much you care

At a big bank on wall street
With its fancy marble floors
Walks in a man in a business suit
As his chauffeur holds the door

But he's going to live, forever, somewhere
So help me God
I've got to show him
How much you care

Every face that I pass by
I see you on the cross
Bearing all our guilt and sin
Not one of us should be lost

I'm going to take this message
Of love that I've found
And somehow share it with this world
So help me God

In a courtroom with its wooden chairs
Sits a little boy and girl
Their mom and dad are fighting
Their little eyes so scared

But their going to live, forever, somewhere
So help me God
I've got to show them
How much you care

On the third floor up in ICU
With a bandage on his head
He may not make it till tomorrow
Was the last thing the doctor said

But he's going to live, forever, somewhere
So help me God
I've Got to show him
How much you care

Every face that I pass by
I  see you on the cross
Baring all my guilt and sin
Not one of us should be lost

I'm going to take this message
Of love that I've found
And somehow share it with this world
So help me God
I would love to take full credit for this poem but my contribution is small and I added only one of the 4 stanzas. Two great lifelong friends of mine named Bob Browning and Ed Dixon we're the main writers.  Eddie passed of brain cancer four years ago and Bobby and I miss him very much. The reference to the ICU is a reference about Eddie. This poem is listed in his honor.

In unity should life be spent
Brotherly, sober, benevolent
Making live let live the testament
Remaining ever non-violent!

The lesson above is mine hard learned
Cats in my house their ahimsa be darned
Not exert once in hunting prey
Let roach and mouse grow by each day!

They have too keen a poetic sense
Don’t maul the mice suffer them pains
Believe in peaceful coexistence
Keep from the prey a safe distance!

Mice no more in fear run by
For with such cats no chance to die
They look thankful with cats so good
Making our home a friendly neighborhood!

I find it a wonder it baffles me
How cats find mice cute friendly
Shun bloodshed make idle claw
Keep blissfully wrong side of law!
pause a little don't **** in haste
curb the killer in yourself
trample them not as garden's pest
they need your kindness' help.

stop your feet see how they beg
lying on your garden's leaf
call out to you all the tiny egg
don't turn your ears deaf.

when they hatch may not look sweet
still they need you to be fair
not **** them but wait little bit
not be repulsed by stinging hair.

now they must eat more and more food
to grow in pace and quick
if you are patient and act like good
their life can get more week.

once you allow them to grow in strength
give their life the needed lease
they reach their goal of the needed length
turn themselves into chrysalis.

thanks to you it reaches the stage
on flowers as butterfly dance
become airborne beauty on human gaze
for you gave them a little chance!
