I love that piece of you I rarely find
The one that slips out and shines in your eyes

You spit out poison that blinds
I'm dull, stop feeding me empty lies

I don't see how you feel that way
Do you say what you say, to scare me away?

I feel that way because I don't deserve you
You're the ray of sunshine and the sky's blue

And why, do you think, that the sky stays still?
Because you, my love, are the clouds that fill

Clouds eventually will be a downpour
And even the skies might fall

If you won't accept my affectionate words
How then, can I give you it all?

You should be free like birds?
There's no rise for me, only fall

You forget, I am the sky
I can't fall with you, but to lose you is to die

I NEVER ASKED YOU TO FALL FOR ME
but I should have just drowned at sea

Why can't you love me enough
To stick around?

You are too good for me,
You'll only break me later

Give me a fighting chance
I won't let you down

Your words are like a lance
They force me to form a frown

All I want is to love you, take you down from the shelf
But how can I love someone, who can't love himself?

In this darkest of hours
I am ready
to be lit up
like a firebrand
the liquid
heat is
already rising
way above sea level
and I am wanting
to extend out
my hand to you
take you to
my soft lair
of emotional rescue
where ecstasy
will drip from our fingers
like wine
poured onto our bodies
play soft or hard
yet keep it fair
no intention
to smash your heart
just to build you up
and take you apart
Each sweet piece
treated with care
re-polished
and put back into place
renewed rejuvenated
just as you will participate
in my tribal dance
and make me
glow
I will become
one with yours,
my ebb,
your flow

I wish to
reside in the
space between your
heart and your
loneliness so that
the two may
never meet again

Half-hearing the story
of a face I didn't know,
But the eyes I've never seen before
still remind me of my own.

The nightmare that she's living -
I don't focus but still see -
Reminds me of the shadows that pass
beneath my doorway.

The faces in her window match
The faces glimpsed in mine
But I know not who she is
Nor who I am
A glint of silver,
In thick fog and smoke.
A random spring,
In the driest desert when you need it most.
A fallen tree,
That stops you just before the edge.
A gentle smile,
In your darkest hour.
The hands on your shoulders,
That tell you to get a grip.
The harsh words,
You needed to hear.
The break in the clouds,
As the hurricane hits.
The gust of wind,
Revealing your face to a stranger,
Ripping off your mask,
So that they can see you for who you are.
A gentle nudge,
That leads you to your fate.
A slammed door,
To show you the other way.
The exploding star,
Who in their dying moments brought you light.

Friends are precious,
People who care are priceless.

There's something about water that fascinates the mind,
Hypnotic in its passive dancing,
Wheeling in panicked turns to the tune of an inaudible waltz.

The way it ripples with each drop of rain in the cold,
Resonates with me,
As though the water itself is speaking to me,
Desperately wanting to be heard,
It's voice crying in every motion.
Stop!
What is it saying?
Stop! Stop!
I don't know
Please! Stop!
It's too quiet
You're not listening!
All I know is how I feel when I see the way it glistens in the moonlight,
The way it reflects the beauty of a cityscape as dusk falls,
When the day is done water's true beauty is found,
It sparkles below me,
Pinpricks of street lights streak across its surface,
They seem to spread ferociously as my eyes are filled with tears,
Pinpricks becoming blazing stars.

The air whispers to me,
telling me what I need to hear.
Exactly what I need.

Water is pure beauty,
Eternally entrancing my closed-off mind,
Drawing me in,
Because sometimes
Water is more than beauty,
It becomes a perfect friend,
With no capacity to judge,
No way to hate,
Only to fill.

*My legs fold beneath me,
my body goes limp,
I fall.
Walking quickly,
Just to catch up with you,
So we can talk for a few more minutes,
So I can see your eyes just one more time,
Before tomorrow.

Walking slowly,
Just to make it last longer,
So I can feel your hand in mine for another eternity,
So I can see you smiling for another second,
Before tomorrow.

Holding you closer,
Just to feel your heart,
So I can hear the sound of every gentle breath,
So you can keep me warm for another moment,
Before tomorrow.

Looking back,
Just to see you step inside,
So I can catch another glimpse of your hair,
So I hear the last thing you say,
Before tomorrow.

Running home,
Just to make the time go faster,
So that the adrenaline can make each minute rush by,
So I don't have to wait quite as long,
Before tomorrow.
