A chance was taken
Thought hope there is
Leaving this story incomplete
Won't be a thing right to do

And thus it goes on
The script though seems
To have come to an end
A void there is

It seems of no consequence
To continue this charade
Need to ask that question
The question which started it all

But then it hits
Why cause pain
For a gain momentary
This is not what I am

Breaks me it does
But at least
It's just me
That it breaks
Attempting to draw parallels
Disregarding the dimensions interfering
Always anxious that
Lost might be the lead

Termed it might be
As a struggle fruit less
Understood it has to be
Perspectives are there many

With shifting sands of time
Shifts a man's mind
Going places never imagined
As the control is handed over

Reigns ending up in hands
Trusted which can't be

Really thought I'd found true love

Evil entered the picture

Prison was my life with you

Ugly soul as black as sin

Loving you my greatest regret

Staying away my greatest   accomplishment

I am free from you

Villain of my story

Exculpation....never

It won't be long now
It will happen soon
I'll be getting over you any day now
I can feel it

That loathsome ache will soon be gone
This feeling of suffocation will subside
I'll breathe again
I'll finally feel at peace

I won't feel that gripping
all consuming fear
The panic that has been my companion
ever since you left

No...I'll be letting all that go
Any moment now
I'll be free....
It's coming

The last bit of you
will soon be gone
No more pain....but..
I wonder....if maybe...

Will I miss you?
When I finally let it all go?
Will I miss it?
Should I just...keep it a little longer?

Perhaps I should still think of you
Only every once in a while....
Just for as bit.
For just a little longer...

I bow my head in prayer Dear Lord
and I lay at your feet
Those that suffer, those in pain,
Your children that are in need.

Your people that are preyed upon
are crying out in fear
Heed their prayers, protect them,
and all that they hold dear.

Touch the hearts of those in power
for they can end their pain.
With your guidance the sun will shine
and chase away the rain.

Help us to find our courage
to keep fighting the good fight.
May we choose the righteous path,
put aside differences and finally unite.

I have faith in you my God
I know you are the way.
Love can conquer hate this night
and make way for a brand new day.

                                       Amen.

The ashes of our loved ones are blown in the wind,
The blood of our siblings fill the streets,
Politicians we elected  rob us, with impunity,
Working tirelessly to reduce us to bits;

They **** our soldiers- our dearly beloved brothers,
Send them to a war which they themselves create,
They have underarmed the soldiers but arm the enemy,
Their callousness and negligence- we cannot underestimate;

Their is no one to speak for us- no one at all,
They sit in their noble seats lobbying for themselves,
They fill their homes with the resources of our people,
While these people are left with little to fend for themselves;

Our educational system has been brought to ruin,
Medical system is now in a deplorable state,
Fund looting is now the order of the day,
To impoverish my people even further is all they debate;

Our security operatives are those that **** us more,
Our hearts are always filled with fear when they come our way,
They maim and **** even when we protest for justice,
Who then should we run to when killers come our way?

The minority among us are disenfranchised,
Jobs belonging to our youths have been stolen away,
Those who create jobs for themseves earn too little to live by,
The pensions of pensioneers are hijacked day by day;

Our bills are on the increase while salaries remain the same,
The salaries of some are slashed day by day,
In the midst these difficulties is the firing of workers,
As wages become burdensome for companies to pay;

I pray that youths like me will open their eyes and see,
That all we have is ourselves not these enemies,
If this lesson is learnt we will quit fighting eachother,
And tolerate one another- finding ways to sustain peace;

Shall this oppression continue while we stand and watch?
No- we will rise and create a new era of representatives?
A people who will be elected from our very own,
People of our own generation to replace these theives.
This explains what Nigerians go through everyday in a nutshell.

The chill of winter bites into the skin
And the valley sleeps in muffled din
In the freezing blustery winter night
The shivering trees stay huddled and tight

Stars have lined up in the sky
With cotton clouds swiftly sailing by
The moon light seeping through the veil
Makes the foliage glisten in the dale

Sharp noises sounding eerie
Leave the valley a place so scary
These sounds parley in a tongue unknown
Of gory tales, to none ever known

Did some cannibal tribe once congregate
In this nether territory to live segregate
What midnight revels had they held
No one knows and history remains cold

Now, here amid thickets and thorny shrubs
Where darkness, like a Fiend proudly struts
And in leaf fringed corners and crevices wide
Serpents coil with poisonous fangs in hide

Look, the sly fox walking stealthily away
After feeding greedily on his hapless prey,
Through the ravine and down the furrow
How he sneaks into his covert burrow

The glassy brook that mirrored the skies
Now in dark, under a thick blanket lies
But the water rushing through pebbles and rocks
With sonorous music, the nightly calm breaks

Among the branches of towering trees
Birds have perched and roost in peace
Little birdies with downy feathers
Cuddle under their mothers splayed wings

From far off woods comes a shrieking howl
As frightening as the hoots of a night owl
Wind, rushing through needle pines
Sounds like a child when he, in pain whines

Now the valley sleeps in muffled din
Until the Sun for his daily ritual parades in
In day light this valley would be up and awake
And life for sure will a renewed turn take
