I’m the harshest critic,
the truest of nonbelievers,
when words of love are used.
Soapy words will not deliver
so please stop trying to be smooth.

Don’t compare me to a summer’s day!
I know that’s from some Broadway play.

Waste not flattery’s rose
praise not my grace,
at least not to my face,
you’re better off praising my clothes.

Forgo sweetness, promise nothing
then you may be onto something
say it, straight up, I won’t faint
trust me, sir, I am no saint.

eyes searching
for the source of sounds you hear

the Sun touches your skin
a gentle reminder
there is always a bigger picture

you taste the fruits of labour
often someone elses efforts
giving thanks for providence

the sweet smell of a flower
can transport your mind
to unknown places.

gnawing on old bones
the marrow long dried up

memory lane can be never ending rail tracks
leading to oblivion

a starved hatred will eventually die
out of boredom and banality

I have never seen a dead Swan
-except on the stage
Swans must have a very special place they go to
-when their time approaches.

when the ultimate goal is love
love along the way is inevitable.

White skin shorn
naked calves

Sun caressed
freed bare feet.

I can’t help ponder,
the essence of time,
For once time goes,
It is forever gone.

The time I’ve used to write this,
cannot be given back,
Me, the one in control of myself,
can only take time away from myself.

I don’t get to add it.
I can’t change it.

I do know I won’t waste my short term here,
doing nothing of some worth.
