Our Paradoxism
We've got a problem and you know it,
We're both hypocrites and we love it.
Say it out loud, admit to it,
Say I'm a hypocrite.

She said I wasn't broken enough
but contradiction is my benediction
and I'm not giving up.

Backlit Villain
"Romeo, thou art a villain"
says Tybalt, Prince of Cats.
Perhaps he speaks the truth;
Point of view in act.

"If People Were Rain"
"I wanted so badly to lie down next to her on the couch,
To wrap my arms around her and sleep.
Not ****, like in those movies.
Not even have ***.
Just sleep together in the most innocent sense of the phrase.
But I lacked the courage
and she had a boyfriend
and I was gawky
and she was gorgeous
and I was hopelessly boring
and she was endlessly fascinating.
So I walked back to my room
and collapsed on the bottom bunk,
Thinking that if people were rain,
I was drizzle and she was hurricane."

Native American Code Of Ethics:

Rise with the sun to pray. Pray alone. Pray often.
The Great Spirit will listen, if you only speak.
~
Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path.
Ignorance, conceit, anger, jealousy and greed stem
from a lost soul. Pray that they will find guidance.
~
Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others
to make your path for you. It is your road, and
yours alone. Others may walk it with you,
but no one can walk it for you.
~
Treat the guests in your home with much consideration.
Serve them the best food, give them the best
bed and treat them with respect and honor.

Do not take what is not yours whether from
a person, a community,the wilderness or from a
culture. It was not earned nor given. It is not yours.
~
Respect all things that are placed upon
this earth – whether it be people or plant.

Honor other people’s thoughts, wishes and words.
Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them.
Allow each person the right to personal expression.
~
Never speak of others in a bad way. The negative
energy that you put out into the universe
will multiply when it returns to you.
~
All persons make mistakes.
And all mistakes can be forgiven.

Bad thoughts cause illness of the mind,
body and spirit. Practice optimism.

Witness Expression
I would give up all I have
to gain something intangible.
The world is so beautiful
and reason so optional.

My brain itches, my skin's abuzz.
Serotonin on the blink again; this familiar, aching nostalgia.
Sometimes I think I like this (how insane).

My mind sees things:
Awe-inspiring, thought-provoking things;
Mortal things, and things' otherwise;
Things you would see differently,
Perhaps things you would fear;

But I am only trying
to comprehend
the lesson.

Sublime Metaphor
It’s late, long past midnight
but not early yet.

There's a faint light in the sky,
On the edge of our atmosphere.

Is it the deep indigo of fading dusk?
The tinted aqua of rising dawn?
The harsh silver of a harvest moon?
The light of stars?
The glow of galaxies?

Superposed in these things
it is intangible, metaphysical.
It illuminates us, washing through
layers of human experience and community.

In the decay of atoms, and beyond the universe.
From The Empyrean, between their times;
Of your body, in your mind,
Sublime.

The Tale Of Two
As the sun fell beyond the land,
Two figures waited, hand in hand.

Walking down the line, out of her mind,
Elation afire in the depths of green eyes,
A sardonic smile creasing his lips,
A wicked gentleman waiting for bliss;

Sunlight faded as streetlight bloomed,
They explored the city, just the two.

Love and addiction soaring to new highs,
Like stars ablaze in each other's eyes,
Arms held together, bodies close,
Minds entwined as empathy flowed;

They wandered the city under the cover of dark,
Unafraid of it's depths for it was a paradise lost,
Unready to come out because it held them close,
Feeding their love and caressing their ghosts.
Hood drawn, wasted with grace,
City night streetlights shadow my face.

Here's the place where I left it behind,
The dopamine fix that broke my mind.

So much isn't enough for just some teen,
Romantic ******'s American dream.

Hallowed Eve
Stripped skin,
Get your intoxication on;
Night falls after dusk dawns.

I can't justify it,
Only explain,
It's on my mind,
Choice, Change.

Less than three,
More than words,
Under the influence
and high on her.

A Night In
Drink tea in space, listen to the moon baked.
Miracle rising, anandamide climaxing.
Interstellar weather, especially in November.
Night sky indigo, beautiful vertigo.

Reclamation Proclamation
Abandoned in place,
Time erased,
Sky in our arms,
Stars on the lake.

Fire on the beach,
Sensation on the rise,
Warm in the dark,
Candles inside.

Reclamation proclamation
made way out far,
We took what was forgotten
and made it ours.
An abandoned hotel in disrepair,
Far away from interfering glare.

Cataclysm Tryst
Finality on display,
Now, later, again;
Ever, where, when.
Lands break,
Tides rise;
Skies collapse,
Stars lie;
Reality is bent,
Time is rend;
The gods ascend,
As suns end:
Beautiful,
Euphoric,
Climactic;
Suspended radiance,
As worlds end.

Synesthesia
Wanting someone to understand me?
Selfish cliché.

I want to understand them,
Share empathy at a glance, for our perception to intertwine
and emotion to be enhanced;
Union of the senses.

Quench
I gazed into sky-deep eyes,
Beyond her and into the abyss.
As I did so did she, staring past me
and into that hollow emptiness.
That moment was like
the absence before
thunder cometh,
Giveth bliss.

What for
a lost palindrome
to grant me this memory
when I'm alone.

The Great Chain
Everybody wants to change the world but
nobody wants to change themselves;
Let me

help you. Won't you please
change me.
Chain me.
Deface me,
Erase me.
Replace me,
Scorn me,
Reform me.
Conform me.
Destroy me,
Enjoy me,
Rebirth me,
Begin again.
You start where you ended

and I'm unchained again.
Nota Tempus
Much of the poetry designated January 2013 was written before finding Hello Poetry. I doubt those poems predate 2012, but a year was a world of difference then;
So some such poems were indeed born of a lonely seventeen year-old.
I reckon he'd be abashed to see where his incantations would lead; yet I wish him the best, only hoping that he would be proud of me.
