i guess confusing cherry tree petals
with falling fresh snow
might just be a metaphor
for whatever's held in your soul.
but you should know
that the snow always starts to go:
when the sun rises (up!)
the snow is all gone.

It's more
than just
a smile
when my
brain forgets
how to
process
the blue skies won't fool me
the green grass can't use me
the far away mountains won't help me
and the cold river isn't freezing.

i'm getting a headache from exhaustion (?)
come kiss me
come kiss me
come kiss me
i miss you already
i think i miss you the most
your touch the most familiar
your smile the one i longed to smile with since all my teeth grew in
gotta credit a poem i saw on twitter for some of the inspo of this wording...it talked of craving their kiss before meeting them
people only realise
how much you're worth
once they've seen the door
SLAM        SLAM       SLAM
and you've turned your back
to prove a point, i'd say.

don't bathe me in liquid gold;
i don't want diamonds, i don't want coal.
my heart's desire is someone to hold
at night when i'm at my most
                                 vulnerable
and when i dream of getting old,
surrounded by nothing but lonely nights,
i just want someone to hold.

I stroke the armrest as if it were a cat
interesting - fingertips velvet lines palm erase repeat
I look up
then squint and my lips kiss a thought
and when I am done squinting
I breathe in as if to (but I don't) speak
slow nod
clock tick
interesting - lace curtain breeze sun spots carpet
your eyebrows so high
so low
slow shake
mouth open
interesting - mind focus emptiness abundance distance
then all of a sudden
get up brisk step door slam *******
yeah
interesting
asleep in her hot bed hot winged angel
sleeps beside the el's racket
during the night & all day;
four or five times in an hour maybe she
can sleep between the sparking scream
of rusty air brakes until the whole train
plows into the station in a fiery explosion;
stripper rolls over thinking the noise
was half-dream half disaster and she goes
sleepily to the window now fully awake;
every unemployed neighbor at their window,
her shift starts at midnight; fire & police
sirens whining & ringing for hours;
colored light swirling through her room
looking like for her work has begun sooner
than thought
& she prances dreamily in her white silk slip
through the dark lit by the shining emergency
lights; she showers & dresses checking
the clock; 5AM ***; she crawls back into
bed; she just worked a double last night
Midnight to Noon covering for preggo Sarah
