The table lamp

The single book of verse.

The ornament standing alone.

The photo in an unforgiving frame.

Or just
the dust

gathering comfort
in a bitter room.

Old Poem
Shaped to look like a table lamp.

I reached a crossroad
My integrity tested
I chose traveling justly
Knowing the path may grow ugly

I gritted my teeth,
Yet carried of firmly
And soon you approached
Armed to provoke me

But I stood my ground
As you crept closely
Ready to retaliate
An adversary, ignorant of my faith

Your attempt to attack
Will fall short in our midst
For an army stands behind me
Pledging allegiance as goodness persists

I know the toothless women
Who crumple on the streets
The rain bleeds through their cardboard,
The cold drips through their feet

I know the dying children
With anaesthetic arms
The angels crowd around them
With time that burns their palms

I've hugged the brainwashed gangsters
With money drenched in blood
I've heard their broken weeping
While digging up the mud

I've seen the starving faces
Of the tired girls at home
The broken, hectic psyches
That eat them to the bone

I know the burning poets
With a desperate thirst for life
The need for finding soulmates
That pierces like a knife

There's weary public servants
Who risk their lives for good
And prove compassion every day
Yet stay misunderstood

Human love is buried
Beneath the plastic weight
Of angry allegations
And a world that feeds off hate

These people may be messy,
But they're beautiful and real
With hidden dreams and secrets
And ability to feel

We have a place to run to
With lights of peach and gold
Where all the weight is lifted
And all our tales are told

We live in total freedom
So safe beneath the moon
And though it seems ambitious
Our dreams will save us soon
The night brings comfort to those who need it most

At first I didn’t know if I was just daft or
What
Every poem I read sounded exactly the same
Tone
And I realized that
Of course they did
I’ve only ever been me while reading them

You see me in most young teens
I'm the thing haunting their dreams,
But not all is not what it seems,

I'm just like any other,
I even have a brother,

Guess what my name is,
What let me answer it for you,

I'm depression and my brother anxiety,
We walk throughout society,

Embodied within everyone and well,
Our job is to make life a living hell,

The beauty of it all,
You can seek help
But we remain,

To haunt you once again
Whether shine or rain.

We’re gonna be there
So grip your bear tonight.
This poem is from the perspective of Depression. I really hope those affected with this mental health issue seek the help and become better people from that.
Have a good day.

I will be there when your voice quivers
I will be there when your body shivers

I will be there when you learn to love
and when you learn to hate
I will be there when you contemplate
and dream of all the things you could create

I will be there when you feel weak
and meek
and the sadness makes you weep

I will be there after every fruitless endeavor
and make you think quicker
and make you feel clever
so that your light shines bright forever

I will be there every step of the way
through every night
and every blight
until your last fading light

If you don’t write it,
It won’t come.
That spark of madness
Devoid of need for the tongue.
If you don’t write it,
It won’t come.
That hidden power in your tone
To bring you visions into the world,
A form of alchemy that pales to none.
If you don’t write it,
It won’t come.
That jewel in your belly that glows brightly
That seeks to find you day and nightly.
If you don’t write it,
It won’t come.
The spark that you find,
The visions you define,
The power you cannot hide.
If you write it,
It will come.

We have our problems
Yeah I know
There are some places
We need to grow
But all I want
Wherever I go

Is you right there
Beside me
