Mortal and fleeting
Luyanda Sep 9
I looked around
and realized how vibrant memories
don’t align the way they used to,
and that I too
will someday be just a memory—
a passing moment in time,
mortal and fleeting

The crux of it all
Luyanda Sep 8
She didn’t wanna be herself anymore
She didn’t wanna be anything
She barely felt like life was worth living
She barely felt like anything at all

Afraid
Luyanda Sep 8
I want to chase you,
but I am afraid.

I have been out in the cold so long—
if I go, I am afraid
I will never be warm again.
Luyanda Sep 7
I stood there
alone,
as I was before you—
and now,
after you.

Hallowheart
Luyanda Sep 7
Loneliness intertwined with her veins,
settled in her bones and made a home.
It caressed her cheek,
held her hand,
and whispered the words
she longed to hear
from another long gone:

“Hallowheart,
I will never leave you.
I will always—
always be with you.”

Despair and dread swelled in her heart,
but she clutched its hand regardless,
finding comfort in its words.

“You promise?”

“I promise.”

belonging
Luyanda Sep 4
Suddenly, I am overcome
by a feeling of belonging.
It is here—
the life I always wanted.
It wasn’t for nothing,
because good things do happen,
and they happen to me too.

mountain
Luyanda Sep 4
Loving you was like a mountain,
and I cannot move mountains.
All I can do is keep moving forward
until I can hardly see the peak anymore,
but it’s still there.
It’s part of my path now.
I could go back,
and it would still be there.
And you will always be there
