This love of ours is on fire,
This flame that can burn right to all our desires.

This burning causes my heart to ache when we are apart.
This love on fire burns down all these walls we’ve built to keep others out,

Watching you take your deep breaths,
As this body of yours fades away.
I never thought I’d see you take your last breaths in this way.
But as I sit here with you, seeing your face filled with so much peace,
I’ll never regret a second that I spent with you like these.  
You are the mother I have loved and fought for till the end,
Most of all, you’re not just my mother but also my best friend.
God’s holding you right now, just lift your arms up high.
He’ll cradle you like a newborn baby in the glorious heaven on high.  
It’s there where you’ll see angels and all our loved ones who’ve passed, whom we’ve loved so dear.
But Momma, please, when you leave, go on without any fear.
You’re going to get your wings soon and be healed inside and out.
It will be a glorious homecoming; I’m almost certain they will shout.  
We love you and will miss you dearly every single day,
But Momma, please don’t worry, we’re going to be okay.
So as I’m watching you take your last breaths, ever soft and slow,
I know your pain is leaving this body, a vessel in store for its new home.  
I can’t promise there won’t be tears; Lord knows I’m going to cry.
But you know I get it honest from you, each tear that falls on by.
Relieved and oh so peaceful, Jesus will take you in His arms.
Don’t be scared, sweet Momma, you’re going to be taken care of; now go and rejoice in His loving arms.

To the days when Daddy
Was gone on a trip,
It was just us three,
With you manning the ship.
  
You were so strong then,
And you’re still strong today.
I just can’t imagine
How it will feel when you go away.

Hospital room,
Listening to you,
So calm and content.  
Then Bubba beside me,
Snoring just like when we were kids,

Back in the day when
Daddy would travel.
It was just us three,
Ready for battle.

Now as I sit here
And see just us three,  
Thinking that soon
It will be me and just Lee.

Your twin babies and you
Always would share,
I’d get embarrassed—
Why did I care?  

You were so proud
To have two special kids.
Now that I have my own,
I see why you did.

Thank you for teaching me
And guiding me through.
Thank you, dear Momma,
For being there for the birth of my two. 
 
You helped bring my babies
Into this world years ago,
Something you were so proud of—
It sure made you glow.

I know heaven is waiting
With gates open wide,
There you’ll find Daddy,
Waiting for his sweet bride.  
You’ll see Papal, or your daddy,
I should say,
And even Uncle Stevie
Oh, what a joyous day.

It’s okay, Momma,
We’ll hold Grandma near,
And your sweet Dolly Wiley—
We’ll love her, don’t fear.  

I’m ready to see you
No longer in pain.
I’m sad for you to leave us,
But what a wonderful woman heaven will gain.

Have you ever looked at the clouds and seen them sweetly lie,
The way they dance and spin about in their beautiful display?
The colors, sometimes vibrant, mixed with different hues,
This beautiful collection often makes me think of you.
When I look up above where the clouds take form,
It shows me how something so plain can be out of the norm.
Like the shapes they take on, letting your imagination fly,
Oh, what beauty I see when I look to the sky!
The clouds above remind me of you, my love, when I look into your eyes—
Your eyes, so beautifully captivating, drawing me in.
They show the different ways you feel; I'm so glad you let me look within.
