Knowing each other

from before, and not knowing --

but knowing life now.

I am a vulture
and time is my prey
If it flies, I fly

faster, if it's past
I devour it
in my mind

digesting the flesh
of my experiences
and wearing out my body

until my beak is too weak
and time escapes
to its final ending

Kalliope
He was somber for most of his life
Until one day, he simply said no-
He wanted to explore, to be as he is,
Not swallowing storms just to cope.

So he'll make the changes, and drive all the miles,
Blue eyes lighting up in the sun-
Feeling lighter with every breath,
His traveling soul on the run.

He’ll gather stories of a life well-lived,
Dark days fading into the past-
A history he once held way too tightly,
Now softened by joy at last.

Maybe he’ll sing after drinks at the bar,
Or trade tales with unguarded delight.
And though it’s all so wonderfully new-
You can tell by his face: It’s just right.
There's not a playbook on how life should be
Let go and follow your truth, life is better lived free

Confusion
 Aug 6 LL
Keegan
Each day, I awaken
as someone I do not recall
yesterday’s self dissolves
like salt in rainwater,
leaving only a faint outline
I cannot name.

I watch feelings and faces
rise and vanish,
a reel of strangers
moving through me
voices shifting in pitch,
hopes changing color,
beliefs melting into questions
before they find a shape.

My heart is a hall of mirrors
where nothing stays still,
reflections sliding past
before I can greet them.
I reach inward
but my hands pass through mist
whoever I was is already gone,
whoever I am is still becoming.

There is a deep confusion,
a constant turning
emotions swirl,
names and needs blur,
each new day a new mask
that fits just for a moment
before falling away.

How can I explain the ache
of never arriving
of always searching the crowd inside
for the one true face,
yet only finding
a thousand shifting shadows
dancing out of reach?

Poetry has given me the voice

to say it to the world —

"I am a living being too,

treat me well."

The world will lose all its light.

That girl in my dream
She has no face - it seems.
No, it's not like that.
Wearing a beautiful dress,
Neither is she faceless,
Nor is she voiceless.
But as soon as I wake up
Her face escapes the walls of my brain,
And her voice flows out like a flowing river,
Every second getting dimmer.
Yet I remember
How beautiful she is,
And how her voice lingers in my heart
Like a true piece of art.
It's like something I know,
But at the same time - don't know.
It happened in one of my dreams and as soon as I woke up , I forgot her face.

Getting off the bus

one man crosses and one waits --

Both are in balance.

Sometimes I walk on water.
Not high above it all-
Just right there at surface level.
Not deep enough to drown.
Not deep enough to swim.
Not high enough to fear falling in.

Sometimes I walk on water
And watch schools of fish
Playfully chase one another,
Not noticing me.

I feel curious sharks graze my feet,
Confused as to why they can’t reach their meal.
Some follow for hours,
Waiting for a taste
They won’t get-
Because right now,
I’m walking on water.
Sometimes I do this for hours, getting lost along the way
A woman pacing over the ocean, through the fog of a lonely day
