To let go of what could have been

I'll work on accepting

First thing I should accept

It is a victory for me

At some point in my history

However distantly
Whatever your reasons be
You sometimes think about me
And I call that a victory

The blurry becomes clear
The power of writing poetry
Almost immortality
As much as any human could be

There is no pill
For
Draining will
After using every bit of skill
Still
Uphill
To some distant peak
I may or may not ever reach
And that’s me thinking optimistically
The logical part of me
Can clearly see
I am looking foolishly
Begging for attention from somebody
Who clearly isn’t interested in me
And this I need to force myself to see
So I can search for something I can achieve

I been through some ****
Soul crushing, unbelievable
“How the hell did you get through it?”
Type ****
But I did get through
Past and over
You won’t see or hear me
Use it as a sob story
Or a crutch
Or a “this is why I **** up so much”
I **** up plenty
Surely do
But each **** up is something new
Not because of damage to
My ego or psyche over what I’ve been through
All that made me stronger
Evolved courageous
Unstoppable baddass is me
No crying about what should have been
Or didn’t happen
Or how much better it used to be
It’s possible to go through lots of ****
And still wind up happy

I cannot hear what you don’t say
Silence is not your typical way
Could be black or white
But you choose gray
It’s perfectly ok
That you don’t want to play
You have your reasons
Valid and true
If I ain’t your flavor
I hope you find what you savor
I pray you have in your crew
Someone delicious to you

I wish I had it in me
To be great
And to shine
And create something memorable
On purpose
And to know it
The creation of something memorable
Recognized
By memorable people
And what that feels like
But I don’t have it in me
The ability to bear the weight
Of being great

Why would you notice me?

Do we care about the people we hate
More than we care for those
We love?
We seem to pay them more
Attention
Particularly when we can find a
Group
To hate with
And commence the circle ****
Of insults
That get increasingly crass
Or the stories
Increasingly daft
Before you know it
The one you hate
Is eating babies.
Or pretending to have them
And you don’t know
What your loved one
Ate for breakfast

Racial tension and injustice
Answered by the internet
With hundreds of memes
Of old white guys
Teaching young black guys
How to tie ties
Well now
That makes everything all right
It’s not like they’re  really
Sending the message
Black kids have no father
Or social grace
And some white guy needs to
Step in to replace

Words released into the void
Once aimless pearls
Strung together
To be found
By the lucky
Beach comber
Finding precious gems
And abandoned gold
Upon crowded shores
Of people looking in the other direction

You fell for an illusion
The man he wanted to be
At the moment
You see
Because he was temporarily lonely
And even though he didn't feel
All the things he said was real
The illusion was so true
For you
You're hopelessly committed
To someone you never knew

The space between
The reasonable
And my insecurity
It seems pretty obvious
He is avoiding me
But maybe it’s normal
To get so busy
To not find a few minutes
Within almost a week
To see what I’m up to
Or even peek
But maybe it’s my insecurity
Baggage carried around by me
I feel it’s not too much to expect
Lack of neglect
But hey, no harm, no foul
Good for him
He must have a life that is busy and full
Or more likely has another girl
And it’s kind of my own fault innit?

But maybe not to me
I might have imagined it all
Because I wanted it to be

Watching insanity permeate
Through society
Quicker than ever before possibly
We are at a tipping point
Maybe
But that’s probably
What they always say
Since they had speech
But I cannot help but believe
At this time, and this whole scene
We gotta take back who we really be
And say it with such fervency
There is NO MORE
Questionability
Of who America really be
Ya see?
These ***** are misrepresenting we
And I don’t know how to fix
Angry people
Scary

I aim to be
His mental ******* machine
Tickle his brain
Relieve some of his pain
Catch his hope in his chest
Fill up his lungs with his next fresh breath
I want him to see himself through my eyes
Sometimes
And feel his own  effect with his beautiful vibe
Maybe he is too ******* himself
Doesn’t feel worthy of **** near worship
Or maybe it’s annoying
For real, who would want that ****?  
All these “maybes”
To hide the fact
The reason is me
Not accepting what will never be
Ownership of what I cannot achieve
Might be what’s most healthy
But pretending he’s  not there
And I don’t see
How beautiful he be
Does not feel like freedom
To me

I thought writing poetry was personal

Just mine

But now I see it’s
Really got nothing to do with me
It’s the reader who feels it
That makes it poetry

There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon you." Now... I been sayin' that **** for years. And if you ever heard it, that meant your ***. You'd be dead right now. I never gave much thought to what it meant. I just thought it was a cold-blooded thing to say to a ******* before I popped a cap in his ***. But I saw some **** this mornin' made me think twice. See, now I'm thinking: maybe it means you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here... he's the shepherd protecting my righteous *** in the valley of darkness. Or it could mean you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. And I'd like that. But that **** ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak.
