Even superheroes fail

it's cold and nobody
cares.

the ice has grown through my skin
into my stomach,
its sharp knives chopping
and slicing what love i had left.

i'm cold and nobody
cares.

if my skin turns to stone
under the weight of all my sins,
so be it.
it is better than melting into the palms
of someone i don't need.

it's cold and nobody
cares.

i wear a heavy coat to heat up
my insecurities,
a hat to hide beneath
the stitching of the fabric.

i'm cold and nobody
cares.

i read your poems and wonder
who exactly you're talking about
when you say
"i love you."
could it be me?
yeah,
right.

it's cold and nobody
cares.

except for
me.

I can go on and on
From "Sorry's"
To "Thank you's"
And a lot in between

Lips sealed and tongue tied
I let everything unsaid

Not knowing
that though
my heart
can never be silent,

*It can never be heard either

***** to stay sad
when people
expect you to be merry

This day
and the coming days
Gotta fake it

You're a wolf in sheep's clothing
That I saw break itself apart just so it could join the flock.
You lived with the sheep long enough that your stench faded,
Inhaled their lifestyle until it became yours.
Then the real wolves came, wearing their own skin,
Entered the flock and began to feast upon the sheep.
You sat, injured and deformed, wearing fluffy, white wool
Over your grey fur.
They came for you, and you pounced.
Your self-blunted teeth split their skulls open,
And your claws tore flesh like the sheep tore blades of grass.
They came for you, but now they are yours.
You ate the wolves' flesh and licked clean their blood;
Your sheep's clothing stained red with wolf.
XI
May I remind you
That you cannot fall in love
While you are still falling
<~>
You can be lost, but still be seen by those who love you.
Your feet say keep running
But how long can you run
From
Yourself
