My face - it is natural
With a map of lines
Of life well lived
With plenty of wine
My body gave birth
To a gorgeous boy
It is soft & forgiving
There to enjoy
My ***** a pillow
To rest a head
(They get lost in my armpits
when I lie down in bed!)

I'd rather wear wellies
And dance in the rain
Than crippling heels
That cause nothing but pain
With the war paint of singles
Applied to my face
Concealing my feelings
My beauty misplaced
This is not me
These trappings of youth
A sheep in lambs clothing
It's just so uncouth

I am me
I am real
I will not pretend
Nor will I conceal
All of these things
That make up the girl
Who still kicks up her heels
And twists & twirls
Whose mind is a buzz
With words & rhymes
So I shall wait for a lover
Who's worthy of mine
I'm in my 40s & when I found myself single again a disturbingly large number of women told me I shouldn't go out without make up on & should always 'dress to impress' even if I was just doing the school run or going to the supermarket! This is my response to that!!
If we love someone,
We express it,
If we hate someone,
Then we say it,

But you chose silence,
To destroy me slowly,
Your silence has kept me on a string,
The string of uncertainty,

I'm not sure what this silence means,
Do you still love me?
Or you hate me now?

If I walk away from you,
I'll be thinking of coming back,
And If I walk towards you,
Maybe I'll make a mistake,

You have left me alone on this string,
Anyhow I'm destroyed, destroyed of uncertainty ....

I believe that uncertainty is a destroying feeling,
For you Sister, in my heart
A place there will always be.
True, a very special part
As you mean so much to me.

All the moments that we share
Deep in my heart I treasure,
Just how much for you I care
Is beyond any measure.

You, Sister, are just the best
You make all our lives richer.
Indeed I feel truly blessed
To have you for my Sister.
This is not a love poem
Or an infatuation poem
This is a mad respect poem
Not wanting to own or dissect poem
But a poem of true appreciation
For present and future enlightenment
