For once
         I am
               truly
Standing
         on the
               sands of time
In the shadows that
        come casting down
                Where Joseph's ,
Jacob's and Moses's memory is bound

The air is
            warm
                as humidity allows
           buried in salt
and sand the bones are endowed

Dare to breathe
           the eternal breath
                cast down
in perpetual death

Walk as one
         in cryptic thought
The allusional truths
         the secrets sought

One is moved
         by the power
               and awe
The things I considered
         from
                all that I saw
Depression is not dimness—
it is burning too bright,
a flare that rips open the silence
of an otherwise endless night.

You shine, not softly,
but like a star straining
against the weight of its own fire,
a brilliance so fierce
it begins to devour itself.

The world sees only the glitter,
not the exhaustion behind it,
not the marrow turned to fuel,
not the ache of carrying light
meant for galaxies.

And then—
a sudden quiet.
No fading, no warning,
just absence.
A blink,
a hollow in the sky where you once were,
the darkness swallowing your name.
Notes written in
the clavicle of the soul /
unknown to most,
spoken softly over a sunset.
Scattered across
the city /
these words
murmur the truth /
the lilac confession
of kisses. . .
how can I say it?

i am just as fearful /
a ***** staring
up at the barrel of a gun /
eyes wide, tail tucked
if I tell you,
would you run?

words spill /
like the water running
down this stream.
oh, what bright eyes /
you have!
you’re a fox like me.

more than fearful /
gaze averted,
aloof alliteration.
i nuzzle you /
kiss you lilac /
a curious fondness
of these/three words.
[ redacted ]

sunrise, all soft /
like a curtain of sorbet.
watching your ears
perk up,
i notice how far
the fence is.
wait! you’re over there /
you nod and look my way.

just jump over,
I suggest.
A thought /
autumn in your heart /
you write your own
lilac confession
and slip through,
curling up next to me.

next to me /
i sense your fear
like the hunter
stalking in the dark /
I must confess,
we are one in the same / and
I will hold your heart gently.

we’re safe here.
the hunter has passed /
reading these words in the
maroon and ember of fall /
to each other.

With my husband was
       ME  N  U
He earned we spent,
I cooked  we ate,
I looked after the household chores,
He took care of all the bills and repairs,
I took care of the children,
He took care of their maintenance,
He treated me with kindness and equity,
I respected and never went above him,
To hurt his male ego.
If he was the head,
I was the neck,
If something needed to be done,
I didn't shout or nagged,
I used a soft approach with feminine charm,
It always worked.
We had our ups and downs,
But who doesn't?

Phoenix

Rising from the ashes of our love.

You spread your wings and fly,
 Soaring into eternity,
while I dissolve
into ash below you.

The Phoenix consumes all it touches.

It is the price of immortality.

And only she will remember,
how brightly I burned for her.
