Her Dressing Room
JaxSpade Nov 2018
Change your mind
That old clothing
Made for floors

You used to like that dress
It complemented your eyes

What you think about now
And how it changed color
Now it's too faded
And it's time to change

Your mind

It used to think about
What to wear

Shifting through the hangers
Behind the closet doors
Wishing you could still fit in
What you did before

He matched with everything
You ever wore
But now he's no longer
In your dresser drawers

When you changed your mind
He changed more
Some things you can never find
In a department store

Change your mind
What can you afford
What are you shopping for
Something you already had

The past
passed

After it dragged
And dragged

My body
Pulled by the rope of tomorrows

Pulled me through all kinds of towns
And different scenarios

The past
Passed

And everything that was...

Had

The future  had the last laugh
That began with my embryo

Ever since that first day
The past left me behind
After it tied me to tomorrow

And it dragged  me through the mud
Mangling my body
and spilling my blood
Breaking my bones
And carving out the marrow

The past
Passed

I had wondered
How long it'd last

It stayed

Until the passed

The scarecrow

            Played on the banjo
One of those golden songs

And the town crow'd
          Crowded like stars

A field of us

While the scarecrow
Played on his banjo

          Songs of love

The crowd rose
      Reaching above

As the strings plugged

                   Strumming

Songs of us

In the field of stars
On the island earth

The scarecrow
        Played a banjo

And the people
   Funked along

The scarecrow played
Picking
            At
                 The
                      Plugs

Scaring away

I never seen a girl wear it
                    Like thiz b#%!

It was like a green light
                     In my eyes
And I became the traffic
With mine

...We kissed

And all over my face
Was that green shidt

                 She left

My flesh a shade of moss

She was trying to be goth

But I took it all off
With my good mood
And bullocks

She wore green lipstick

     And I split those lips
     With some love
     And a long tongue

                       Vicious

I never seen a girl wear it
Like this b#%!

                   She was delicious
On the other side of the fence

And she sure is a whole lot greener
And well kempt

A little greenage

If I could just pretend to live
I could die inside my head

Because my body is just a host
For the soul of my ghost

On the other side
Living in someone else

I am the figment of my Gods creation
Inside his devils throat
There I am paddling

Through the darkness unfurled
Into the belly of the beast
Where I am swallowed

If I could just pretend
I'm somewhere else
If I could just lie to myself

I could pretend I'm in heaven
As a Holy ghost

As the perfection of a man
Hidden from the worst

If I could solve in my imagination
And proper my education
Perhaps I could learn some appreciation

I could embrace the succ
And decipher a new interpretation

And just pretend
I'm good for someone

I could die in their arms

The minutes passed
through the windows draft
I felt the breeze pass
across my face
Into my path

60 of seconds
60 of minutes
Sick to my stomach
As hours diminished

An anvil crashed
On my cerebral cortex
And I vomited a vortex
Of months in accordance
With another year

The pattern
Each way I move my steps
Retrace where the last one went
A circle-less circle
Following my lead
Following me to repeat
The same thing over again

I asleep I awake
The sun replays the same day
Adding to my age

The pattern
The same me
In different scenarios scattered
And nothing of it matters
To my current being

Material items accumulate
Even though the only thing
I take
is my soul

Bound to a heaven
Or punished to a hell
I'm painted into my patterns
Desire to free will

Walking through His story
He molded a man
Unworthy of His glory

To follow a pattern
Of matters
in space time and matter

A circle-less circle of manners
Repeated in gestures for each culture
Of his habits

The minutes passed
Then the day grasped
The ends faceless mask

When the recognition of pattern
Proves our geometrical figure
To the sum of Master
Sinner

We will then begin to learn
What was asked
And why we kept repeating
The same disasters
In every act of our

I guess I'll dye

They tried to understand their historical graphs
While the sheeps get slaughtered
And children are taught our

I heard a man say
We are living in futility
Each of us owned by talents
And abilities
Behind the flesh of a mask
Our hearts beat separately
Together yet differently
We survive the good

Nothings really matters
As matters are gathered
Their futile in the bed of our death
Yet what is our path
Following time
With the sun and moons ryhme
We spin on the earth in a skeletons

Control minds
We contemplate
Reason in four separate seasons
Completing the days into years

For the sunrise
To crawl out
From yesterday

I can hear the town
Cries
Mumbling about
What passed away

Counting down the days
Like the calendar
Has something to say

About how long
will ever
Live another
Sunrise made

I've been waiting
On the moon sky
Watching in phase

Under the starlight
In my mind
As I gaze

I've been waiting for
The same time
I take

Chasing the clocks
Arms
As far
As they reach

Waiting
On a time-line
While the hours
Speed

I see a checkered
Flag
On the horizon
Waving at me

Going 100 miles an hour
I slowed down
And waited
On the track
Of the humans race

For the end to come

When I shined

In the city
It finds time
To plenty

It takes no pity
When it steals
Your pennies

It lies
In the cheats

It cheats in the lies

Eyes repeat
What it needs
To survive

In the streets

Crime eats
It devours greed
At the speed
Lust bleeds

I see it creep
And speak through teeth

In the cities
In every state
It breeds politicians
And news fake

Crime
In the deepest state of mind
In the city
In your lives

It climbs at a rate
Too high to take
When we find
It's committed
By the ones we've paid

Crime

She walked with a melody
  And looked back

Mmm... the harmony

Her eyes
  My hands

And the radio in the background
Playing
Smooth jazz

The summer heat
        Would sweat
        And melt two hearts

In the beats brass
Curves would
           Smack

And She
Would ask

   For more

Smooth jazz
Played
As our bodies
Wrapped in braids

                    Amore

A groove
  A sound

           Of two lovers
In a tune they found

Dancing and singing
        Enjoying laughs
The way she moved
When she walked past

I just had to have

              That
Smooth Jazz

And those eyes that kiss mine back

      Mmm... The brass
When the horns blast
And the finished past

We lay there together
In a world that's ours
Two lovers sharing scars

So we just turn up the volume
To drown out the problems
Then kick back
         And relax

With a little smooth jazz
Some curves and hands
You and I
Could be our own band

We'll have our own razzmatazz
Extravagance and coolness
Others don't have

The way she moved
I didn't know what to do

But grab

After a slap
She kissed me back
And love was daft

As the radio played in the background

Inside
All these gears keep turning
Ticking toward the warning
Alarm
And yet I find
I was awake the whole time
Staring into a space
That conquered my mind
The room wasn't spinning
It was my eyes
They were so focused on quitting
Life
Yet I find
Myself crawling
However I wanted to climb
But I'm on the floor of falling
Hardly alive
I don't want to die
But I just might give it a try
Yet I find
Myself stalling
Hoping for a different calling
Than falling on a knife
The sky is so cold
And the mirror just told
My soul a lie
And as the second hand
Whispered to the minutes
How he wished the hours would die
I heard the chime

Staring at her figure

Burning away

Every ember I trace
Is a warm embrace
Crackling and popping
In the cool night air
Soothing my face

My cold cold hands
Need each flame
As each one waltzes
Across my pupils

Watching
In a daze

The fire caught my gaze
And whispered stay
Add another timber
Don't let her fade

Her warm embrace
Captured my eyes
While the flames danced
Into the night

Across the ballroom floor
They wrestle with warmth
Arm and arm
Burning hearts

That warm embrace
Of desire
Caught my eyes

Kneeling at the cross
My thoughts came across
All the battles I lost

I thought about my wisdom
And how it lacked the actions
Of a Christian

And how much my sins have cost
With none paid off

I asked the Savior into my heart
So he could pay
What I don't got

I prayed to God
That he would listen
So I could follow his mission
And submit everything I was missing

What was I missing

I searched my soul
And studied harder than before
Until I found out it was myself

I wasn't giving
My all

Taking up the cross
And carrying it along
No matter how far
The pain or scars

There is a heavenly
Reward

If you can obtain the faith
Of a Lord

So great

He gave his life
So you could have yours

Kneeling at the cross
I thanked the Big Boss
For sacrificing himself

For the world

I asked for help
Because I can't do this by myself

And I prayed for you as well
Because I want you to reside in heaven
Not hell

If you just believe
You can. Trust and see

The racist cop
The racist white
The racist facts

How do you overcome the past
When it falls into your lap
And the division
Doesn't equal what you add

You allow time
To heal the error
Add love and a plan to get better
Together
If our families matter
More than the color
Of our flesh

The race is human
And we need each other
To battle the evil
Which attacks

The loving black
The loving cop
The loving white
With the power of forgiveness
Can win this
Regardless of the enemy
Trying to destroy the Unity
True Patriots have

Fight back
White & Black
Are a Force

When we're together
Watching each others back
Like we were
Before the media told us

We should hate each other
Because Hilary Lost

Who is my God
What do I want more of

To survive

Whether I
Toil or spin
Or leave my mouth dry

More money
Decides

Or is it my God
That replenish supply

Which keeps me alive
Whom should I depend on
When demands come by

Where lies my thirst
For whom will quench my life

Which one will leave me dying
If I don't

She read my poem
But she wasn't impressed by the tone
She expected Shakespeare

But I'm not the one

I have no bliss
For a woman to wish
To be my own

She read how I write
And I guess she don't like
What I got going on

She expected Bukowski
Not a poet this lousy

I should've gave up
But it was they way she aroused me
That kept me writing profoundly

Yet I'm still left lonely

The price I paid
Was the cost I lost
Because she expected Robert Frost

She read my poem
But it was only me

She got

The opening leaves
And flowering trees
Introduce a new Spring

And all the grew seeds
Planted water beads
In the dew morning

Dawn of the day
Sunshine and rays
The violet so ultra
My skin changes shades

And as our Winter coats Fall
Like the Autumn leaves

The changing of seasons
Exchange their peace

I keep falling

Falling
              Down

I keep
        tumbling
                down

My feet are froggin' out

Hoppin' around
And I keep falling
Falling down

I
  keep
          going
                down
                         the
                              spiral

Hoping to reach
The smallest paradise
                  Fooling around
Groovin' to the sounds of
                              Howling

The moon calling me out
Before morning
I keep falling out of conscience

I'm on a pond with frog legs
But I am no prince

A kiss could change me

I keep falling

             Fallen
                         down

To the bottom of all this

And when I look up
                    It's so tall
                   All around me

And when I look down
I keep going down
                 The spiral

Looking for help
But no one is coming

                Now

I'm a tree frog
Hoping around the forest

And I keep falling
I keep falling out of conscience

I keep tumbling down
And my feet are froggin' out
Hopping along the waters

I'm no prince
Or a knight
In shining armor

I'm just a man
Or a frog

Falling down
The spiral

******* on my lie
I fooled her eyes
And like a lollipop
She licked the sides

Slurping up my slys
I hid the surprise
Of deception
And
She licked it all night

Everything she wanted to hear
I said
She kept eating out of my hand
So I fed

Lie after lie
And I painted her eyes

So the only thing she could see

Were mine

Popsicle Stick

I found my death
On a popsicle stick
The ******* melted the lick

In the middle of throat
The cold froze my lips
That wooden handle
Was found on the floor of my wish

My brain froze
And my tags toe'd
My body's bagged gift

Ever since I became an adult
I was a kid
Born into a womb
The world would spin

Ice cream
But no one heard
What my voice did
I found my death
It was born in my last breath

I screamed
As the cold dripped
Everything I was looking for
Vanished

On a hot summer street
A melted popsicle
Puddled around stick

That wooden handle
Was the last thing I did
