Even, if I'm thrown into the deep end
I guarantee you that I will always ascend

My mama raised me to live decent
Showed me to follow Godly precepts
Anything below excellent, she taught me to reject
Expressing love was a daily subject

She taught me to believe in my heart
To hone and master my craft
In all my dealings, to play my part
Whatever I give out (positive or negative) is surely coming back

She said, be up and doing... Don't be lazy
Productivity is not synonymous to being busy
Let them see your work ethic and call you crazy
Just in a matter of time, they will call you amazing

She taught me to be careful with my words
'cause they have a big influence on my worth
Never compromise honesty
'cause it's worth more than any currency

She said, your attitude is like a ladder
It could take you up or down
No matter what life throws at you,
You were born to be a success, so stand your ground!

Why is it easier to spread the message of
fear and get the people terrified, petrified
Than it is to propagate the message of
love and get the people inspired, unified.

Is fear truly more powerful than love?
Does fear have a stronger grip than love?
Are we more receptive to fear than love?
Are we more fed with fear than love?
Is love the answer or is love overrated?

Or maybe I should just ask—
what really is Love?

Love is more than this "thing" that we feel
It is the commitment shown after
the rush of hormones has finally calmed
It's standing by the promises we've made
Love goes hand in hand with loyalty

Love is forgiveness,
letting past wrongs be totally gone
It is understanding, forbearance
Allowing ego to sit still and be calm
It is watching out for the good of others

Love is in listening and communicating
It is attentiveness and show of care
Love is selflessness
Love is responsibility
Above all, love is a beautiful thing.

Have you seen the products of a broken family?
It's not unusual to see a major or subtle effects on the kids
Like in the US, where a lot of fathers are locked in the penitentiary
The kids make their way to the streets,
Getting their first charge before age of seventeen
Become a father/mother before nineteen

When the fathers are gone,
the home become unstable
The mothers work like crazy
The kids carry the most burden
Dear fathers, at all cost
Ensure to stand by your family.

Taking a stroll down memory lane
Remembering beautiful souls who death has slain
****** — there's too many to count
There're those I thought left before their time
but who am I to determine the appropriate time

But this I know — it's a privilege to be alive
My deeds alone cannot keep my breath intact
To still be living is by God's grace in fact
So, while I'm here, it's a must I play my part
Because how we live each day really counts
Plus, to nobody is tomorrow guaranteed.

The human heart is undeniably
A very deep place
What you see appearing on the surface
Is not necessarily the same as what is hiding beneath

What you see on the surface of some is beautiful flowers
But beneath those are roaches and spiders
Or the other way around
Who really knows the true intentions of the heart?

Easier said than done
Easier to forget rights than wrongs
Easier to recieve than give
Easier to doubt than believe

Easier to give up than stand tall
Easier to despise than show love
Easier to imitate than be true to self
Easier to complain than be grateful

If you keep winning
Without learning anything new
You're probably too grown for that level
It's about time to level up

When it seems like you lost
But you learnt at least one tangible lesson
Then, it's not a total loss

Windchill on a wintry day is like rubbing salt into a wound
It makes eyes and nose water like a crying kid
Negative temperature puts your jacket to the test
The bones can tell when your jacket fails
Extreme cold could be quite unfriendly
Risk and danger it is to the homeless

I love the snowflakes as they descend from the sky
Oh, what a blessing from above
Pure, white, shiny and beautiful
Watching you fall is just astonishing

You have covered the land with your purity
I'm looking out the window, admiring your beauty
See how amazing you look on the trees
See all the houses with white roofs

A few lessons I have learnt from you
A number of people don't like your coldness
That's a reminder for me not to keep a cold attitude
The floors and roads become slippery
Tells me that it's important to thread life slowly and carefully
You come clean but we turn your beauty to something messy
Which means intentions could be misunderstood and mistreated

There are things you do that I'm not too pleased with
When you are around, it gets dark quite early
At 6pm, I'm already feeling sleepy
How about the stress of cleaning my car's windshield

All in all, I can't imagine a year without you
Good things often have their own challenges too
So, I will embrace all the blessings that come with you
And deal with the seemingly unpleasant ones too!

I love wordplay
But I don't loosely play with words
Just like cars that
take people from point A to B
helping them achieve their goals
but also have claimed many lives
Just like guns used for hunting
and recreation
but also have ended many lives
Words are that powerful
If used irresponsibly,
they can cause a lot of havoc

Isn't it amazing, how words can touch as if words has a flesh

Isn't it bright, how words can illuminate a dark time like a torch

Words uplift, words bring down
Words heal, words injures
Words express love, words show hatred
Words give life, words cause death
Words bring together, words seperates
Words make peace, words start fights
Words bless, words curse
Words make, words break
Words are dynamic and potent
Words are easily spoken and long-lasting
Choose and use them, carefully and wisely.

Words so powerful, It cuts deeper than a knife
Words so powerful, it can start a strife
Words so powerful, it can take a life
Words so powerful, it can spark a light
Words so powerful, it can birth a smile
Words so powerful, it separates a fool from the wise
Words so powerful, it can heal any wound
Words so powerful, it can destroy, maintain, improve or create
Words so powerful, it can bring together like a knit
Words so powerful, it's lifespan can be infinite
Words so powerful, if it falls, you can't take it back!

Thoughts dwelling in my mind like a foetus
waiting to be born into this world as a poem
To glisten before the eyes of the reader
And to linger in their minds even days after
I'll patiently wait for the words to mature
To be released in its purest form.

This world is in a mess
I refused to be depressed
Just too many happenings to digest
Oh my God, this is too much stress!

True people are rare as a Unicorn
Maybe beautiful souls are yet to be born
Or dead in the tomb
Are we corrupted from the womb?

Selfishness is the order of the day
We care less if it doesn't pay
All I see is mere pretence
Been a while, I heard a true sentence

I cry, we need a Messiah
I lie, we are the messiahs
A better world starts with me
And continues with you

We are "messiahs"

On that cross,
His sweat and blood were dripping
If I was in His shoes, I would be cursing
But He did the opposite, He was praying
"Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing"

The Son of God became sin
He died, sin died and was done with forever
The story didn't end with His death
3 days later, He was raised by the Father
And He ushered us into life eternal

We became heirs of the promises
Worthy branches of His Vine
Called to a life full of bliss
Glory to the risen King!

Had some quiet time to myself
To reminisce about the events of the year
Here is a summary
Challenges surfaced but grace prevailed
Doubts appeared but faith conquered
Trouble showed but peace overshadowed
Evil threatened but light reigned supreme
A lot of hurdles crossed
A lot of lessons learnt
Blessings felt and experienced
Indeed, it was a great year
The memories brought me to tears
Tears of joy and gratitude
Ready for the new year
With it's blessings of great magnitude

saved on my phone
The love button in my heart gets clicked
You're the only channel I'll ever subscribe to
My mind is pleased thinking about you
My heart beats healthier when I remember you
There is certainly something unique about you

You always had me rise like evaporation
When you left, I fell heavily like precipitation
You caused a change in my temperature
With you, I was warm as the summer
Without you,I am colder than the winter
