this year the imported ponies
are the ones to beat
as they've got more staying power
in their feet

long distance racing
suits their genetic makeup
over a mile they'll
keep firing up

our horses are sprinters
who can dash
but that style of racing
shall ne'er win the cash
I'm walking
I'm walking
out the door

cause my baby
don't love me anymore

he's been unfaithful
to little old me

running around town
acting fancy free

I'm walking
I'm walking
out the door

cause my baby
is rotten to the core

he'll regret
what he's done to me

he'll rue
his disloyalty

I'm walking
I'm walking
out the door

cause my baby
aint worth it anymore

I'll be better off
once I'm out the door

cause my baby
has done it too many times before
atop the apex
is a most precarious point
to be stationed

the slightest tremor
can topple down the tip's vantage
engineers know this

yet some will insist
on being seated trickily there
clinging to the edge

like inane humpty dumpty
setting himself well up for
an inglorious fall
In a poet's ink a birthing process starts*
Thoughts will sprout on the pages of creation
They can be written with any notation
These mere infants develop beating hearts
Growing to fully matured living kinds
Verses that which we'll remember in joy
They'll ever of our affections employ
Bringing their experiences to minds
Presence given by the words bestowed
Emotion's colours on reading a line
Out of imagination's depths begun
The many figures of speech nicely glowed
Each metaphor a child truly divine
*A reward seen within the risen sun
an incident took place
just yesterday
one met a troll
at the site's hostile bay
its verbalization was not
of pleasant greeting
some rather pointed
things said at the meeting

firstly it conveyed
the B---- term
on hearing that term
one did squirm
thence it proceeded
to tell one
in no uncertain terms
one should be turned
out to pasture
midst all the slugs
and worms

well its form of address
did of one not overly impress
and may one place on the record
one felt that one's
hot button got a press

trolling maybe amusing
for a troll
yet one didn't delight in its
unnecessary patrol

the trenchant troll
needs a fulltime occupation
which is more useful
to the writing population
so say voices who do well know
they're multiplying by the score
an exact total out of show
it's possible there's millions more*

they're multiplying by the score
every day numbers keep rising
it's possible there's millions more
these huge counts ever surprising

every day numbers keep rising
alias names being concealed
these huge counts ever surprising
genuine stats rarely revealed

alias names being concealed
under our radar they all slip
genuine stats rarely revealed
each one an unstated ship

under our radar they all slip
incognito account holders
each one an unstated ship
we're never privy to their folders

incognito account holders
an exact total out of show
we're never privy to their folders
*so say voices who do well know
Mr Abbott is backsliding
on his election promise
he told the electorate there
would be no new taxes
how gullible us voters were
to listen to his rhetoric
the right honorable treasurer
is going to slap
a nice little revenue raiser
on the taxpayers
the government
wants to bring
the books back
into the black
there's a shortfall
in the budget's bottom line
this is playing vigorously
on Mr Abbott's and Mr Hockey's minds
the numbers
for the budget
are all in
and the government
is out to top up
the treasury's
income tin
not feeling crash hot
body contorted
trembles on and off
mind fuzzy in stages
called my local drug dealer
we're meeting
in twenty five minutes

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

I arrive at the old brickyards
my dealer turns up
seeing his face
makes me feel good
he proceeds to tell me
this fix is top grade stuff
money negotiations
already done over the phone
now in receipt of a cap and a half
my dealer gets lost
he checks for cops

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

I've scored my fix
in a shabby storehouse
at the old brickyards
laid out in preparation
are my tools for administering the drug
needle spoon  lighter  water
my belt the tourniquet
the fix is cooked
done in short time
no time to waste

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

I look along my punctured arm
to find a suitable place
luck!
I've found an unused vein
no problems
the needle goes in
I unload the contents of the syringe
in just a few minutes
the effect of the drug can be felt

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

my mind goes into introspection
other forms of thought
consumed and cocooned
different consciousness
plains reached
levels beyond
I almost feel close to God
or am I God myself
the images merge in my distorted mind
euphoric sublime
this lot of smack
has sure smacked me
journey well affords the expense

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

after several hours
reality hits and returns
not feeling so sedate
can I cope with what gets thrown at me
need to be in control of things
not drug in control of me
smack has got me
under her weighty thumb

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

already planning next break in
no better a gas station robbery
job like that means more cash
it'll buy heaps more smack
my habit is a demanding *****
nagging on me all the time
I've got to feed it
it
it
it
habit
got me ****
hoping the cops
don't get a trace or whiff of me

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me
I wrote this poem after reading an article about a drug addict.
Thou hath not the hand of a Sonneteer
As this composition shall verily tell
Thou proffers a rhyme so unfit to sell
Of determination thy mind doth steer
Correct in meter all lines must be
The object is to complete this hard task
Then in a well lit passage thy can bask
Thy brain laboring to bring glory to thee
The end of the process is in full sight
Each word placed down with much exertion
Thou trudges forward to climb the high hill
Where there is an ebullient glowing light
All self doubt hath gone out on excursion
Thy best efforts done with an inept quill
One to make you smile...
Shane Linville has a propensity
to steal other poet's poetry
he claims them as his own property
which has an air of impropriety
using social media to let others know of his thievery
shall bring upon his name the mark of notoriety
there is not one once of decency
to Shane Linville's infamy
an array of angels
in the heavens did sing
of a divine coming
unto the Earth

the God child twas born
a savior
a king
for those who believe
in his being

with faith we turn
the pages of scripture
on Christmas day
and ruminate
on this glorious birthday
his brightness
eternally of splay

our heavenly king
our beacon of everlasting life
born of the Earth
in faith's continuous stream
oh praise to the Lord above
for his son Jesus
who bears the torch
of love's infinite gleam
A poem inspired by my poet friend Paul Butters.
of rank lofty
the superior lion

all followed him
twas his calling

a baton lifts
the conductor
holding influence
and here we'll have a magnificent view
off a moon in fullest array
in the vastness of the open skies
its luminous silver face
shall stream with torrential beams
throughout the night
it will sail over the black sea sky
on a voyage
of majesty
such a grand display
this lunar show
astounding the eyes
with its mystical glow
the stars shall dance
dance all night
in accord with the brimming
moonlight
wonder
shall dwell in the celestial plains
as the moon
on this night
shall regally rein
late in the afternoon
a storm hawk
sounded his prophetic tune
within his blood
an inkling of the weather
which would prevail
his clarion call
went o'er the landscape
from a vantage point
high in a gumtree
it reverberated
so liberally
inside the hour
on the hills
and in the steep ravines
gullies rushed
in fast moving streams
he knew the weather drill
he knew it well
when skies would
spill a raining
gill
his predictive powers
sensed moisture
being about
hence his calling
resounded
in an innate vein
now that the Covid Nineteen virus
is in our
sphere
we'll have to get used to it
circulating around
here

every year we'll need a vaccination
so our bodies will acquire immunity
from strains which are floating about

the virus can't be totally
eliminated
nor can it be
obviated

virologists world wide want it to be
contained
by slowing the transmission of which
its trained

Covid Nineteen is here to
stay
and it's not ever going
away
as the thronging wind blasted
leaves whirled through the yard
much havoc it's velocity
had instigated
advice given
two different views

one in disarray
what course to trace

might be better
to be guided
by my own instinct
On posting a most unflattering note
Was decided to scotch the pompous tote
He felt like tearing a she writer down
By plating some of his unneeded *****
Which had been greeted as nothing to skite
Were a constructive message put on page
She wouldn't of seen the flaming bonfire's rage
Why bring his conceited vantage to town
There then was a ceasing of his preaching
Riling her in an extent far reaching
Without thinking such stinging words he chose
On her indigestion they didn't sit well
All managed to be an affront's hell
Lodging deep within her insulted nose
Of fake love a woman won't accept, she requires a genuine intent
The true heart will obtain her rapport, lasting is its thatch of intent

Oft the so called chivalrous knight, rides into a woman's soul
Yet he has nowt to offer, within him there's implausible intent

A false illusion he portrays, this stage act is the one that he'll play
The mislead lady so distraught, on recognizing the ill of his intent

Bespeaking love's honor, can only be voiced by a gentleman
He'll always have a princess by his side, this be kosher in intent

A man who practices fraud, shall never abide in a lady's fondness
Of a duper's treachery, there is but the ides of ruinous intent
inside the surreptitious
facilities
they're conducting quite disturbing
activities

were the greater public to know
what was going on at these
places
they'd certainly be wearing
very worried
faces

keeping the people in
the pitch of
dark
being the custom of the chemical
and bio-weapons
lark

some nations are presently developing
a stockpile of
capacity
that maybe used on a population
with the intent of

we're all acquainted with these wonderful
individuals in our populations

WOMEN BELIEVING

THE IMPOSSIBLE

now to conclude with some athlete's names
they've participated in the Olympic Games
both of them world track and field competitors
Marjorie Jackson and Kathy Freeman female victors
Amid the restlessness of a blood enthused crowd
Stood two gladiatorial practitioners both battle proud
From the inner arena a barking summons rang out
Calling the combatants to engage in battle's bout

The blood lust crowd wanted sport without delay
No quarter was ceded in the gladiator's display

Slashing lashing swords flayed high then to the midriff
Shields clanged and clinked in alternate shift
The foot-work of battle was magnificent of flair
Both took the onslaught with a disdainful air

Around the arena walls went a deafening cloud
The performance of the gladiators intoxicated the crowd
While in the bowels of the arena lions and tigers roared
Battle fervour rose to the gladiators they who are adored

Striking like a lightning bolt the victor's sword kills
His opponents chest dies in blood's gushing spill
Enthused by the spectacle of blood the crowd cried for more
Other combatants offered themselves to the gladiatorial floor

Battle Gods gathered at the celestial fray
Sang songs of battle to the arena's clay
in the beauty of the bush
one's mind is at ease
in the rustle of the trees

the air takes one to a lovely space
where all one's hassles
are more rightfully placed

the waters of the creek
soothes one's bothered soul
as it contentedly babbles and rolls

the finches koels and corellas
renew one's heart
with the songs they impart

one feels utterly at peace
in the beauty of the bush
in the beauty of the bush
one's mind is at ease
in the rustle of the trees

the air takes one to a lovely space
where all one's hassles
are more rightfully placed

the waters of the creek
soothe one's feet and soul
as it contentedly babbles and rolls

the finches, koels and corellas
renew one's heart
with the songs they impart

one feels utterly at peace
in the beauty of the bush
the sweet fragrance
of honeysuckle
did waft in the air
twas a bouquet
of beauty
for the lovers
to share
they strolled
amid the scent
as eve drew near
they spoke of their love
which would ever endear
neath the moonlight's luster
they caressed
in the honeysuckle's
loveliness
the sweet fragrance of honeysuckle
did waft on the air
twas a bouquet of beauty
for the lovers to share
they strolled
amid the scent
as eve drew near
and spoke of their love
which would forever endear
neath the moonlight
they caressed
in the honeysuckle's
loveliness
in the still of night
when the stars are all ablaze
the elves and gnomes
come out to play

they scamper and scurry
all full of verve
as the sheep and cattle
take nightly preserve

old man moon chuckles
at these funny wee guys
skipping and dancing
in front of his eyes

on my pillow they do play
as the night slips slowly away
Verse 1

on the stock market floor lay losses galore
and in time they'd be redeemed
a price collapse saw the upward trend end
it would be a long haul pulling it out of the pall
ooh, ooh and in time they'd be redeemed
busted at the seams were all the investment schemes
putting paid to fortune's prosperity
the dream run had less future's equity
New York's exchange took a hammering

Chorus

ooh, troubled was the trading
ooh, troubled was the trading

Verse 2

as we watched the steep downward slide
the money men didn't feel like smiling
a wrecking bear had hit finances in the kitty
shocking became the fiscal outlook

Chorus

ooh, troubled was the trading
ooh, troubled was the trading

Verse 3

and the homeless dwellers in the slums
look in bins for something to eat
and they've no dosh to buy a passage out
and this is their unfair place in society
once the cream could be skimmed
yet nothing is left but life's grieving
on and on the losing streak goes
there's always a cycle of poverty
and troubled was the trading
resigned to fate's course of lows
the market floor held in distress
gloom beset the bright lights in dull tones
your redeeming breath can be inhaled
an injection of capital will aid
ghetto dwellers all in want
wealth is but for the few
monied folk posses the long bond
forgotten all the people in need
values riding on a share price
who is listening to the tune
it tells of crash and of boom
this we all know too well

Outro

and in time they'd be redeemed
if the Broncos are to win this Friday
night
the intensity of their play must be
right
they'll need full commitment in the
fight
half measures won't cut a victory's
light

the Storm never give an inch on the
field
that why they've held football's top
shield
they keep the pressure on and don't
yield
each member of the team up to the job's
wield

possession of the ball determining the
game
any player slackening off will bear
blame
the premiership's battle is there to
tame
so we'll see a dour contest that's not
lame

less than forty hours to go before the rivals
meet
where footy fans shall experience quite a
treat
the ref's whistle calling upon the vying
beat
there'll be fireworks and no team going into
retreat
Unfortunately the Broncos weren't successful in winning the preliminary final. The Storm defeated them,  30 points to nil.
the invasion of my house
started three days ago
the creatures who are invading
do bother so

they're only small
but there is so many of them
just this morning
I saw ten thousand of them

it seems like they quite like
invading my house
they're in every nook and cranny
in my house

I can't get them to leave
they just won't go
they're sticking around
and some have crawled onto my iced vo vo's

maybe the constant
hot spell of weather
has caused them to invade
that's why they prefer
to be in my tenement
which is a welcome place of shade

should the temperature decrease
in the days ahead
these little blighters
will take leave of my stead

but for now I'm saddled
with these invading bush ants
I'm just so happy
that none of them
have found their way
into my underpants
One to make you smile...
the muse has gone on walk about
and as a consequence of her actions
I have no words to freely spout

should she not return before ten
there is sure to be very few stanzas
spilling forth from my pen

how dare she desert my writing station
when she knows that I require
her to hang around for invocation
a most reliable birdie source
informed my good self
that the notorious pair
have guises aplenty on the shelf

on some days they'll employ
but a meager few
then on other days
they'll use a staggering slew

spotting the guises
is quite an interesting task
it's a matter of peeling off
the interchangeable mask

now let's go back to
the notorious pair
they both possess
a masquerading air

J aka Lionheart aka Tommy
are thespians of diversification
along with Violet aka DiamondM
who make up the operation

over nearly half a decade
birdie has observed their act
trotting out many guises
without an iota of tact
it's a drone, it's a drone
a drone, a drone, a drone
it's a drone, it's a drone
a drone, a drone, a drone

it's collecting info on me and you
it's checking out everything we do
it plies a spying eye
in all directions of the sky
why oh why oh why
does it need to pry on you and I

it's a drone, it's a drone
a drone, a drone, a drone
it's a drone, it's a drone
a drone, a drone, a drone

people are freaking out
knowing that a drone could be about
they can't relax at all
the surveillance does appall
it's truly quite queer
how the government do peer

it's a drone, it's drone
a drone, a drone, a drone
This poem is written, to the Cream lyric "I'm So Glad".

This poem is set to the Cream song "I'm So Glad".
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of the bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such jocund company:
I gazed-and gazed-but little thought
What wealth the show to me brought.

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon the inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
I was looking for love
looking for a long time
looking looking looking
for a long time
I found the love
I was looking for
he just happened
to be knocking
on my door
his job
as an investigator
bought him to my door
he asked
a few questions
about my stolen
garden gnome
which had unexpectedly
fled from the back of my home
we conferred
on the matter
of the robbery
and I could see in his eyes
that he was falling
for me
the direction
of our chat
changed rather rapidly
the air had
a feel
of sweet harmony
I found the love
I was looking for
he just happened
to be knocking
on my door
A little something to put a smile on your face....
I would have written a rhyme
but I had very little time
so I cut this rhyme short
as a rhyme takes time to court

at some future time
when I'm not pushed for time
I'll write a longer rhyme
which shall be so sublime
now you see him
now you don't
he's a regular
jack in the box

his head pops up
then pops down
keeping tabs on him
is the hardest job around

the next time
I see him
I'll catch him on the toe
and I'll not let him go

he's secreting
himself in the box now
if he doesn't pop up
we'll be having a row
please excuse the gross lingo in this write
but using it will add some genuine bite
last night Jack's freezer called on our town
leaving a big frost blanket well behind
its chilliness stayed fixed to my rind
the temperature was minus of degrees
there came a feeling cold in toes and knees
everything most certainly zeroed down
holy crap them winter ides aren't too good
they shivered through my old frames wood
three more months of a bitter frigid brace
summer's warmth has departed these parts
which means I'll be up for Jacko's white starts
climes such as his are so hard to face
E'er Jade doth stride around the location
Oft showing her striking covetous glare
Some folks have been on the end of her stare
She's an expert at this vocation
On any given day her eyes cast their shade
Deep of green much greener than pasture land
Unmistakable the look of her brand
One may have sighted her verdant parade
She is possessed of a jealous focus
Desirous tendencies in her makeup
At this moment she is looking around
Her keen scope may well be trained on us
E'er she stays her course and ne'er gives up
Her peepers always scouting on the ground
how often
the jade
appears
some wear it
as a spear
this color
we know well
it rarely if ever
is covered
by a shell
there it is
rearing its head again
a covetous tinge
to its eye

the lyrics wander through
his confused mind
yet the meaning of them
he couldn't find

all the words
so strangely arranged
as if forming a thought
process really deranged

we listen to what he
conveys in the disjointed song
the composition is so
alien of rhythmic tong

he talks about the end
and about a beautiful friend
he makes reference to
an ancient snake
whilst the music drones
with a resonant quake

drama builds
as the tune plays
father
I want to **** you
mother
I want
I want
what does he want to do
screaming in language
so askew

the trip he took
on psychedelic LSD
might but give us a blue bus
insight to the drug's creativity
it is great
to be well away
from those jousting women
all they ever do
is throw verbal bombs
at each other
that seems to be
their field of play
several nasty shots
were fired tonight
which wasn't
a very pretty scene
the ladies got into the boxing ring
which did disturb
some of the folk
a resolution to their feud
is looking
rather remote
a mediator
may need to be called in
someone
with Kissinger
negotiation skills
peace may then
be bought about
