in a hot bedroom
bonfires of desire heat up
to a fever pitch
leaves of copper
hung from the autumn branches
as past medallions
rain's pitter patter
plops on my weathered roof
with dampening drops
in this part of Oz
there is an ancient spinster
who pines for love
a powder of frost
covers the bush land's terrain
on this cold June day
innate in the embryo
is a universal note
of endless promise
our village churchyard
is resplendent in sunlight
this Monday morning
this morn azure blue
reigns o'er the northern tablelands
radiant is its hue
over the landscape
presided a sky of blue
so brilliant in rule
the blue of ocean
did meet with the blue of sky
on the horizon

was as if the two
hues of blue were the one shade
in that far off line
the luminous moon
journeys on a night passage
over star lit skies
the Lord shall provide
in our hour of greatest need
have faith in his word
government shuts down
people placed on unpaid leave
debacle now rules
the sky on this day
shows a wintry shade of grey
dismal its display
unto the earth's crust
soaking rains did pour down
quenching its dryness
the neighborhood cats
are partaking of kitty fun
they're getting it on
as day progressed
the signs of good rains grew less
bush skies were cloudless
out toward the west
last vestiges of day light
slowly reclined
pleated valley folds
stretched for miles unto
the far horizon
spring's first lovely kiss
twas an exciting new bliss
between the young hearts
donating persons
were regularly featured
on the front cover

those who had no funds
seldom did attain a post
to vanguard status

it might well be said
cash carry's so much gravitas
in fees of favour
minute dewdrops clung
onto the tall grass blades
earlier this morning
the sun's dazzling rays
highlight every piece of bush
in a bright burnish
the landscape bathed
in an indigo blue shading
on this sunny bright day
on a gentle breeze
fluffy dandelion seeds
did saunter around
along the shoreline
the lovers slowly walked
on that moonlit night
evening draws down
the last vestiges of light
sunken to the west
an ill did blow in
on the east's virulent wind
carrying a malady
spring's gorgeous colors
shall burst forth from their buds
into a gala show
a convoy of trucks
thundered down the main drag
of our small township
clouds smudged in grey
are floating over our town
out towards the hills
love is a bouquet
filled with the bloom's embrace
of scented flowers
this morn azure blue
reigns o'er the Northern Tablelands
radiant is its hue
war is a maddness
causing much too much saddness
let saneness prevail
atop the east hills
an outer edge of sun rays
were seen early this morn
in shallow waters
newly hatched fingerlings
swam with swishing tails
glimmering sunlight
danced o' er the lake's surface
in a glister's jig
midst the sparkling stars
sailed a luminous moon
chartering night seas
to impart your love
is akin to giving life
inhale its oxygen
with a ***** sear
the sun scorched the landscape
in fervent ardor
a carpet of light
lit the forest's arcane floor
in firefly flares
on this hot Monday
a person thirsts constantly
the throat dry of well
the narow river
slowly snaked a passage
through the wooded glen
elms in the front yard
have started to exhibit
autumn's amber hues
a faint pencil line
marks dusk's far off horizon
in day's curtain close
day draws to an end
a half crescent sun lies o'er
the western sky line
stars are appearing
in the expansive bush skies
each one twinkling bright
volleys of thunder
resound across the bush sky
this late Monday night
on a white wave curl
the surfer's arms balanced
to keep him upright
bright sunlight splinters
cut slender pathways down to
the vale's dim lit floor
