Strobe
where is the beacon
that illuminating light of realization
that says we're living in a world
which is telling of our civilization

the news casts relay
all of the bad events happening
on every inch
of our planet's clay

we're shocked and dumbfounded
by what we see and hear
these horrid occurrences
bring to this world more than one tear

will there ever be a time
when we as citizens of Earth
shall live in harmony's
peaceful rebirth

war and conflicts
in nations close and far
ever the leaders of tyranny
armed and ready to spar

natural disasters ongoing
earthquakes floods and droughts
populations by the score
feel these most terrible of touts

outbreaks of diseases and viruses
seemingly all of them on the rise
Ebola currently affecting
the African continent with demise

our planet is full of worry and woe
of these articles there's a never ending show
news travels fast around the globe
and little of it tells of a bright strobe
Otis told me about this cool
brand new swanky dance hall place,
said it was full of pretty-lookers
with baby doll faces
not the sleazebag rough
******-types, the scary kind.
So I pulled on my best blue jeans,
scooped on a little dab of gel and
checked myself out in the mirror.
I thought, man you look swell,
somebody might say, you're fine
and with those thoughts,
I stepped out
headed on down to the party club,
hoping someone would notice me, too.

I walked on over to the servery,
to sample some dip and savories,
out of the corner of my eye
I saw a pretty little babe,
she sashayed across the dance hall,
to make herself known to me.
In an instant, there was electricity,
we got to talking about how nice,
it would be, to get together
more regularly.
I knew there and then,
we were going to be real close friends,
she oozed class and she had me rapt,
my heart beat climbed high,
like, I'd scored a drop dead gorgeous
piece of sugar pie.
I thought yeah!
She'd be the ideal girl for me.

And she would be,
if she could dance the Watusi
she'd be fine with me.
Well, I'm not one
to beat around the bush,
I cut to the quick,
so I sauntered right up to her
and in my smoothest Southern drawl
asked the lil' darling,
"Sweet Darling would you like
a cup of Chardonnay?"
And she, in the most playful way,
smiled coyly and replied,
"Why Mister, surely I would,
I can't resist a fine wine!"

As we sipped on the wine,
there was a warming glow
between us two, we were starting
to cog, like in sync watches.
I thought to myself, I can play
a part, in her every dream,
my lil' darling and I dancing,
to the beat of a lava stream.
We took to the dance hall floor,
expressing our close body simmer,
the Watusi sounds,
had us all a glimmer.

Then we pulled closer,
the gravity was electric,
a sacred feeling,
I could feel between my hips
and she,
she had a primordial fragrance,
I could smell beneath her
fashionable clothes.
Reasonableness was fading
quickly with the pace,
I held her face
and we fell
into another dimension.

A flow of passion ignited,
there was no containing,
the flare,
our lips burnt with an excited
and intoxicating fervor,
our skin to skin contact,
was like an ember.
Eros, had my sugar pie and I
in mind,
when he wrote the script,
to the sensual Watusi bind.

Pharaoh's Cool Crypt
the Egyptians of ancient times
worked in the sun for few dimes

they slavishly carted square blocks
to ***** temples and pyramid docks

as the sun streamed down
upon their heads
the workers in stone
wanted their sun god dead

they offered orisons
to Ra telling him he'd gone too far
by sending forth an over abundance
of hot solar bars

so the laborers of ancient Egypt
took refuge from Ra's heat
in the pharaoh's cool crypt

Flowers... (Pleiades Poem)
florid blooms adorning avenues and streets
floral petals unfolding to the sun's rays
fragrances sweet they prettily emanate
flourishes of splendid color so varied of hue

Flame Of Love
the flame of love
oft diminishes
and its warmth
disappears
a union
fused
with
affection
dissipates

the parties in the relationship
lose that loving feeling
a void remains
in their hearts
with a deep want
for the flame
to
re-ignite

someone...
somewhere...
is alone
without
a man or woman
at their side
waiting and hoping
for the warmth of love
to
again

Lovely Trance
let's take a chance
on romance
we'll dance
to its lovely trance

our hearts melting together
in a sorts of weather
twill be a pleasant tether
waltzing lightly as a feather

forever to embrace
we'll make a sweet interlace
twirling to romance's grace
how divine this precious brace

love's accord ours to stay
as we glide in its array
spangling stars in our bay
oh how fine our tryst display

let's take a chance

we'll dance

the creation of my verses
is quite simple
as soon as an idea pops
into my cranial cavity
I get my pen scribing
rather quickly
for if I think too long
before I commencing writing
the notion I have in mind
is sure to escape
once that pop
comes into being
I  immediately start composing
a piece of poetry

Con Man (Terzanelle Poem)
deception is the old fellow's name
he's an ace professional con man
this is his no good claim to fame

he's fab at handling the charisma pan
far too smooth is his presentation
he's an ace professional con man

he'll never get an honesty ovation
the old guy is tops at the odd slippery trick
far too smooth is his presentation

a keen eye can pick him real quick
his act is well honed and rehearsed

on the subject of fraud he's well versed

Less Than Chuffed
this morning I awoke with a stiff shoulder
which was in need of a light grease
in vain I tried to rotate my arm
a full three hundred and sixty degrees

when I got it in alignment
with my side there it did seize
and now my shoulder
is in a permanent kind of freeze

it really is such a terrible
state of affairs
when one's shoulder
won't show its usual wares

all day long I've sat nursing
my rigid rota cuff
and it could be said
that I'm less than chuffed
One to make you smile...

russets ides adorned
the fall branches
mellow were their tones
bespeaking of a rich vintage

warmest did come

the canvas in ruddy hues
autumn tones
did on a November wind

Ozone Layer
us humans haven't quite cleaned up
everyday we send nasty chemicals spiraling up
which invariably stuffs the ozone layer up

our polluting of this rim of protection
continually goes on we're not holding the pollutants in retention
which shows we're damaging its convention

there needs to be more
innovative ideas developed
to subdue the ***** air
                                     which we humans
                                     keep overly producing
                                     here and everywhere

so as the ultra violet streams
don't not become too extreme
they do irreparable harm
and give cause for alarm

we humans have an obligation
to our planet's ozone cover
by not sullying its protective sheath
with tons of polluting smother
16/09/2014 is International Day of the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

Mercy's Guiding Hand
no deliverance
twas aboard the train
the driver had lost
his senses and gone insane

the train sped along
at a velocity of speed
free wheeling
like a fast rolling bead

those on board
held tightly to their seats
for the train driver
twas in the grip of mad pleats

as the train neared
the descent of the mountainside
it quickly tumbled over
as a carnival ride

none did survive
the train driver's irrational trip
for they were in his
unbalanced guardianship

on that day salvation
did not abound
mercy's guiding hand
was nowhere to be found

Everlasting Love
they are a couple
who've loved long
their kind of love
is ever so strong

they've shared and cared
with hearts of devotion
they'll be forever entwined
in the deepest of adoration

their marriage has withstood
many a storm filled day
they've encountered sunny
dawns along the way

they are a couple
so well matched
their years together
so beautifully thatched

the birds in the trees
sing with an effulgent glee
they sing for dear Robert
and the sweet Dee

their song is a tune
of everlasting love
which God has gifted
to this pair of doves

Time
time governs you and me
treat it not irreverently
chance the unknown while you can
sands of time pause for no woman nor man
one and all quick sticks
the time piece it ticks it ticks
ditherers and dawdlers hear the alarm
wasted days do each of us irreversible harm
of the calendar year we are sure
though moments in time are pending trapdoors
make every venture your stock in trade
lest time render us uncertain and afraid
in reality agendas and rosters do vary
devilish time oft wickedly contrary
speed up Jack Jill sundials are on a roll
time is indiscriminate in exacting a costly toll
governor time is carefully deliberating
our pendulums remonstrating

Mirthful sunlit chimes spoke of fondness
Ever they'd enmesh in love's binding tress
Streams of joy did gurgle with much delight
Their hearts according in rapture's notes
Bright news resounded through these totes
They'd professed to each other love's tie
Twas a pairing which would ne'er fade or die
Heavens arrayed in spangling starlight
The twosome combined so divinely
A sweet syrup bliss ringing sublimely
Love's declaration pleasantly pealing
Throughout the continents both near and wide
The turtle doves love ever to reside
These gladdest tidings truly appealing

Spectre's Trace
he built an impervious wall
he built it high
he kept her out
his divide did stand
strong and stoic
ne'er would he
permit her access again
it acted as an insurance policy
not one brick in its structure

like a dense piece of steel
so well  it did fortify
with his barrier solidly in place
his heart was
so well encased
his blocking partition
screened out
her specter's trace
the weather is the Northern hemisphere
is too gelid for thee and me
here in the Southern hemisphere
we bask in a much warmer degree

twill not be traveling to climes
where there is snow and sleet
one shall be staying where
the prevailing conditions are sweet

up in the North regions
they sing those sombre refrains
about the chilliest of weather
which is windy of vein

down in the South regions
the sun streams all day long
that's why we chorus
the happiest of songs

the climate here suits us rather well
as this verse does so eloquently tell
so with that said we'll hasten outside
to take in the Southern sun's pride

we'll be thinking of our cousins
and friends in Northern lands
who will be sitting by hearth fires
warming their frozen hands

they'll be wishing they were
in a climate of sunny disposition
instead of being wholly stuck
in winter's gelid volition

Maralinga (Ghazal Poem)
servicemen ingested the wrath, leaching through unsuspecting bodies
in a time capsule it sat in idleness, waiting to affect their aged bodies

no safeguards were in place, the testing went on without accountability
the red dust of the outback irradiated, protective cladding not on bodies

years later cancers were reported, nuclear particles ratcheting up
damaging the organs and bones, in frail manner were their bodies

a mushroom cloud hung low, the aftermath of British testing
the servicemen but lab rats, no one had regard for these bodies

friendly fire came to Australia, back in the nineteen fifties
Maralinga a tragedy in the making, its dire fallout stayed in bodies
