to be real
in a false
world

is like wearing
a corset made
of your own
bones

your heart
weakly beating
beneath your
armour

it pulses red
fist shaped
and ready
to fight

the creatures
that lurk
like spectres
in the dark
corners of
your mind

it's not up
to you if
you win
this fight

only you
try, you
try, you
try

The Concrete Poet
If you are
indeed
in touch
with life
and you need
a smile?

Stop.
Stop for
a moment
and genuinely
watch
a
squirrel run.

I
guarantee
a smile
will
envelop
your face.

All that
it takes is,
genuine
absorption.

Last Poem
 Jun 2019 Emily
Pagan Paul
It will be written long,
when Nature takes her own
and quenches life's flame,
when all the sadness
has been noted and versed,
packaged as final words,
having ******* with regret
or discourse with nostalgia.
The taming of the mortal coil breeds
the Last Poem.

declan morrow
blessed be the agony
of love unrequited.

blessed be clutches of wildfire
that swept
through this forest.

for after its flames were tamed,
grace
planted a bed of wildflowers
in its center,
wildflowers of every color:

bright yellows,
hopeful lavenders,
piercing reds.

blessed be the agony,
blessed be the wildfire, the wildflowers.
for it made me kneel down
and pray.
for you,
for me,
for us,
i've gathered a bouquet.

To me you're the ocean
The deep blue that lures me in
The mysterious unknown that keeps me afloat
I want to drown in you
But be in the shallow
I want to give myself to you
But keep my heart hollow.

In reality, you're just chlorine

I’ll put your love into a box
One where only I have the key
When asked, “How do you open the box?”
I’ll smile and say, “It’s only for me”

Bee
moonlight lover
 May 2019 Emily
Bee
she was the moon
radiating the night sky
and dancing among the stars

you were the darkness
the shadow that waxed and waned
through the phases of her life

she grew to believe
that your presence
is what made her whole

but like the full moon
she shone brightest
without you

Lydia
what do you want from me?
I don’t even know where to begin
I don’t know which direction I’m in
It’s too messy in my head,
unlike my room
they always want and I have nothing to give
can’t you see I’m searching for a reason to live?
I’m still looking in the mirror to see where I’m at
It’s harder to see when it’s dark
But there’s beauty in the pain, like a masterpiece of art
I told you I’m a nightmare and you’re living in a dream
