Go hold him** their voices sounded silent as in dream
I stood a dumb doll making no move to close in on him
he was there so near me only away an arm's length
but I held my ground frozen ****** of all my strength!

I watched him fall in slow motion transfixed in my place
a frantic appeal in his eyes a disaster looking at his face
if only I had taken one step restored him lost balance
how could I, I was not moving, stayed rooted there in trance!

Grab him they shouted but came their voices from far
a lullaby no wake up call traveling from distant most star
how could I move one step do something to keep him upright
by design I was the most helpless closest to disaster's site!

In that year long minute just one wish haunted my stupored mind
my ears would catch sounds of footsteps of the ones standing behind
someone would catch the falling man reach the site going ahead of me
there was no way would move my feet prevent happening of the calamity!
The 3 Laws of Disaster:

i. The person(s) standing closest to the site of disaster is the last/most unlikely one to offer any help.
ii. The ones lying farthest are usually the ones to reach the earliest.
iii. In fact, the person standing closest to the site of a disaster assumes himself to be a part of it hoping help would reach from those farther from him.
Contemporary.

Con
Temporary,and
that conned me into believing that it wasn't forever,it, never is,is it?
but we learn to survive though they drive the drivel right though the middle of our urban sprawl, and
we learn to crawl, then to walk,to talk Spangalese, then it's back to our knees and dribbling,oh please, don't tell me that.
Adverts that pervert me,prevent and circumvent my understanding of fair play,oh contemporary is today, of that there is no doubt.
I should make notes of this, tomorrow may come and I might miss what is contemporary ,but for today.
I should play the contemporary game, buy some airtime, gain some fame, but contemporary goes so fast just blink once or twice and it has passed,
I cast a line to secure more time but it's no use and so
I hang free and loose
swinging in the noose and wondering what it was all about.

When the night falls
I falter to the what ifs
and drift into our old familiar seas
Like in a dream
One in which I wish I wouldn't wake
and hope to shake for it's breaking me
I carry the weight of every embrace
Now left to waste in the empty space left in my heart
Where you've made your mark
Before our depart
Carving your name
With such a beautiful art
You are my star so far
I beg my mind to stop envisioning you
I implore it to but it wont
and I don't know how to deal with this dread
That lays beside me each night in bed
I couldn't stop the tears while writing this one...he's the one that got away.

He grabs me into a world that I have never known,
And shines a light into my darkness.
Exposing all my secrets,
The doorway to my soul no longer hidden.

Feelings rushing like a tidal wave,
I fear I will wash away with it.
Grab my hand and save me,
Our magnetic souls will keep us grounded.

Wrap yourself around me,
Like a butterfly’s cocoon.
I will breathe out as you breathe in,
So we can feel like one.

Never Had Me

Sometimes I write about you
But don't think too highly of yourself
You're just a book that's gathered dust
On the very highest shelf
Nothing is paid attention to
All the way at the top
It's neglected and ignored
Not important, I almost forgot
The space you take up
In the back of my mind
Is deteriorating by the second
You'll disappear with time
Sometimes I write about you
But it doesn't mean jack
I didn't lose you
You were something I never had
And you never had me either

Your birth was a storm of pain.
Red clouds
Roiling above a viscous sea.
Each surge
A bargain made with nature
For redemption, for release.

But I was never afraid.
I listened to you, your quiet calm,
Connecting, even then.
I breathed, perspired and rode
the rapids of my body,
Followed the pulse and rhythm of something unrestrained,
Released from deep within,
Urging me on.

There's a moment, when birthing
Like finding yourself alone, in a hot air balloon,
Rising higher and higher
Without the hope of return to solid ground.
You feel your insides gather, prepare for something new,
And it is new,
Indescribable, other, you feel like a creature from another world
And that's what you looked like too.
Little alien, yet so familiar
Eyes on each other
Daughter and mother.
This is an old one of mine, reposted, please forgive me the duplication, but my eldest daughter, Rowan, is unwell at the moment and I wanted to share this again.

This fat British fellow.
His much inflated ego, rolls across the grass masked ground.
Eternally on the level, never obese, just jolly rotund.
Always gets given a present, the noble order of the boot.
Out for rough and tumble, very thick skinned always full of hot air.
Jolly good sport, a **** good catch.
Goes up in a volley or down on the beach.
Amend his waist, change his shape, abuse him for rugger.
After the match, can be a right ***** ******.
Anyone for tennis, a game for two on the court.
Snooker or a maybe good game of pool,
Silly poet lady, she talks a load of *****,can't get enough of playing the fool.

A little nonsense for you x
Dream on, poet sweet,
I will hold your words inside
When we sleep, we'll meet.
Have been reading poems for hours...Classics interspersed with dozens from this site...feeling very inspired!  Poetry is wonderful.
