The carved words and pictures in the cave,
left by honored ancients bold and brave;
Speak of gods with powers from the sky,
placing glints of admiration in faithful eyes.

Abandoned in cryptic missives on the wall,
these sketches demonstrate the rise and fall;
Of civilizations long past throughout the years,
while portraying their daily hopes and fears.

People weren't really much different then,
from today's authors using a pencil or pen;
With lives which depict work, stress, and play,
through what artists' souls seek to convey.

Finding lost messages that teach us to grow,
from helpless children to those who know;
That ancestral stories stand firm and tall,
from clever carvings left upon these walls.

WALKING WITH GOD

God had gone
for a walk.

"Let the Universe..." He thought
"...take care of itself!"

He just wanted to walk.
Walk...like any human would.

And here was a world
He could be proud of.

It did Him good
to see it as a human could.

Grass covered
his naked toes.

The morning
bleating with lambs.

Blue sky as if
He were in a living painting.

Sunshine - golden.
Tangible...touchable.

All it was missing was
a cuckoo.

So, He added it
as an afterthought.

Because...
He - could.

And God saw
that it was good.

Met Him halfway
up a hill

walking my little dog
Ivor.

God and his creature
and his creature's creature.

"Howya!" I said.
"Howya!" said God.

"Woof!" said the dog.
"Woof!" mimicked God.

In another half an hour
I was due a heartattack.

The dog licking
my fallen face.

Wouldn't be discovered
for an hour or more.

The dog refusing to leave
the body.

God foresaw
all this of course.

"Ahhhh this is the kind of thing
that really ruins my day!

God moaned.

"And for which
I always get the blame!

God groaned.

"Go back now!"
the voice of God

echoed inside my head.

"Kiss your wife...
look into her eyes!"

And, so -
- I did.

I lived another 20 years after this.
My wife died soon all too soon.

I got knocked down by a car
in the end.

"So this is Heaven?"
I conjectured.

"Howya!" a voice I thought
I recognised.

"Howya!"
I said.

Mr Morningstar
It was a match dropped into an oil field
And so these flames depicted the hellfire that reigned inside of me.
A pure rage
Unbridled and ever growing
What volatile emotions unleashed while their warden was away.
A jailbreak of hatred enticed with frustration and fueled by confusion
A soul that once new peace
A heart that bloomed love
Now fields of brimstone wishing harm to those who destroyed the garden
Oath breakers, eyes void of soul. Liars the lot of them cast together with no sense of right or wrong
Yet wielding a hammer of “justice”
There is no balance to these scales
No punishment befitting this imaginary crime.
I pray you all be destroyed, in worse ways than you destroy those around you.
My hearts misses who I was.
My soul has forgotten peace.
And my mind is ever burning with the devils blue flames.
-Mr. Vaun Niklaus Morningstar.
My confusion keeps me awake at night and so sometimes I write.

NAUGHTY LOVERS

we nestle in
behind the tick of Time
stowaways in Eternity

Time thinks: "Now...
where did I put those two?"
we want to shout: "WE'RE BEHIND YOU!"

Time hears us giggle
puts us back in our place
"Naughty lovers!" Time chides us "Naughty lovers!"

Time scolds us
for stepping out of the day
wonders: "How do lovers do that?"

"Oh oh...they've gone again!"
we escape into
the bliss of a kiss

what is life
when love is like a knife
it can be so beautiful
but hurts more when it's dull
