Stereotypes
 Apr 2020 Perry
Sushmita
for her,
you can't ride a motorbike,
you can't work all night,
you can't have short hair,
you can't wear a short dress,
you can't drink or smoke,
you can't own a business,

for him,
you can't paint your nails,
you can't pierce your ears,
you can't have anything pink,
you can't play with dolls,
you can't cry,
you can't be a house-husband,

for me,
I can do anything I want.
All we need is courage to break these stereotypes.

She was a vibrant rose
And he was a  beautiful tulip

but the rose had thorns
piercing deeply into my skin
Her words and actions broke me to pieces

while the blood gushed
the tulip wrapped his arms
healing the wound from a waterfall of blood

both were beautiful but one was deadly

It doesn’t matter
how many that
quits on you
as long as you
don’t quit on
yourself

The moon taught me
to get up
even when all
I was surrounded by
seemed dark
It just depends
On how you see it

I woke to a soft morning light
filtered through my pink curtains
and the neighbor’s heater vibrating in my ear
And through my window
saw snowflakes carefree dancing
in a radiant and romantic rapeseed field
Warmed by the scent of brewing coffee
and lovely thoughts of you
This magical sea of yellow
adorned by tiny lacy flurries
Let me forget the freezings that I’ve felt
and the dimness that I’ve seen
