In isolation
We still have the birds and the moon
Stars and sunshine
Trees sway in spring, summer begins
Homes chime of wind chimes, chores and children’s games
Unexpectedly life does that to you
In testing times
Together we come to fight a situation
And find solutions
We have music and good times to think of
in the safe confines of our homes
It’s easier to live with the imperfections within
Full throttle, let’s face the one outside
Flattening the curve
In solidarity, we stand
Lets spread the love, and bring some cheer
Keep calm and behold the lights within
Prayers to bring a safer tomorrow
Peace be upon everyone

Take away our hugs
Take away our greeting
Take away our gathering
Take away our meeting

Smiling was still
Acceptable
It will be ok
Giving hope for today

Now masking our face
With a fake guise
I will now have to learn
To smile with my eyes
I really hate this mask thing. It’s hiding my smile and everyone else’s. But it’s necessary. For now.

I’ve sobbed for hours,
Then for days,
Ache blurring lifeless gaze
Stolen breaths come incomplete
And, too quickly, are replaced.
I’ve sobbed from twilight until noon
Filling this entire room
Watching skin succumb to prune
Hair, molasses, ‘round my neck
Pirouettes to desperate croon.
I’ve sobbed through sunrise and sunset
Muddled orange and violet
Lighting crests of waves deflect
Fading as they intersect.
I sob for eras and for lives
Until none of them survive,
So what light exists beyond the depth
Can magnetize and resurrect,
And eyes can greet horizon new
Reflecting glowing golden hue
Desaturating retrospect
As currents sway to sovereign tune.

You wrap it in a paper dream
and label it with honesty

Your version of reality

Shouting out a twisted truth
supported by your
manufactured proof
absolving you
from the lies you tell.

Well

All roads lead to madness
and the unhinged swinging gate
where suspicion
screams
in accusation
and stains
the purity of love with hate.

Innocence stares
wide eyed and helpless
denied
as hope
dismayed
slowly fades.

The wrong creed
seals their fate
the right creed
in another place
this creed
preaches hate
for all
who show the other face.

Whose creed sans pitie'
whose face
whose proof
whose version of reality
whose heartless twisted truth

empowers the fist with righteousness
and holds the key to life and death?
